SYSLINUX 3.50-pre16 released ... RELEASE CANDIDATE
Hi all, I have finally gotten SYSLINUX 3.50 what it feels like feature-complete for release, or something pretty close to it. As a consequence, I am declaring 3.50-pre16 a release candidate. Here is what's news since 3.36: Changes in 3.50: * New keywords allow the type of file to be specified in the configuration file. * It is now supported to load a different

SYSLINUX 3.50 released
Well, SYSLINUX 3.50 has been in development since September of last year (it was originally a branch off 3.31), and the diff against 3.36 is almost 15,000 lines. I doubt it's going to be bug free, but prereleases can only get you so far with respect to testing. Thus, it's time to push the button and getting this thing out into the world. I hereby announce SYSLINUX 3.50. Special thanks

SYSLINUX 3.50-pre14 pushed out; adds INCLUDE support
It really turned out not to be all that hard to do, after all. I definitely feel a bit silly, but there you have it. Please test this out as 3.50 really is way overdue to get out the door. -hpa

Why does a W2K (pro) client do more than it is asked to do?
Desperate to find out why connecting to a samba share(on an AIX server) from W2K is so slow, I tried connecting to the same share from a Linux box, using smbclient: smbclient \\\\aixserver\\sharedir$ -U lynn The results were amazing. The connection was so MUCH FASTER then connecting from a W2K (pro) workstation: \\aixserver\sharedir$ (in the Start|Run edit box) When I examined the samba log

SYSLINUX-3.52-pre5: XP BOOTSEC.BIN Bug
I just encountered my only bug w/ the ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combination from 3.52-pre5. Updated a *working* CD project w/ the new ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combo just last week. Booting my preferred Linux distro (Slax-6) from my custom CDs work perfectly, however when I updated a CD project that includes BartPE/WinPE, BartPE fails to boot w/ 'CDBoot can not boot CD: error 4" msg. syslinux raid mode
I noticed syslinux-3.50 implements some 'raid mode' (-r option), which should be used to boot the next device. But there is nothing about it in the documentation. Would you please describe what does it do? I assume it's something different than chainloading a boot loader from different disk/partition, right? Thank you Tomas M

read.table -unexpected truncation of rows
Hello, Are there any 'unallowed' (meta)characters that can cause R to parse a file incorrectly when using read.table? --Dawn Here the background if it's needed: I'm new to R, but have done some Perl. I'm trying to read in a data.frame from a file using * as a record separator. data <- read.table("all_genomes.data",header=T,sep="*") This has

Should SEV-ES #VC use IST? (Re: [PATCH] Allow RDTSC and RDTSCP from userspace)

With the removal of IST shifting I wonder what you would suggest on how to best implement an NMI-safe IST handler with nesting support. My current plan is to implement an IST handler which switches itself off the IST stack as soon as possible, freeing it for

Equivalent to Solaris Zones?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I just wondered if there was an equivalent to Solaris Zones available for Linux. Is Java insecure ?
Hi Everyone I am considering learning Java. There have been well publicized Java security incidents recently that make me not want to learn it. However it's in Centos and I trust Centos, are the concerns in the media blown out of proportion ? -Patrick

isolinux bug?
Hello, very usefull software you did with Syslinux. I want to thank you a lot for it. But that is not the only reason I am writing you :) In fact I got a little problem with isolinux, but I cannot say it is isolinux's fault. The problem occurs when I try to boot an isolinux cd with Bochs ( http://bochs.sourceforge.net , the latest version supports eltorito cd booting). As soon as the kernel

Berkeley DB with Dovecot
I have a friend who is preparing to set up a small Postfix/Dovecot mail system. There are only approximately 25 users. He wants to use Berkeley DB in a similar fashion to the way Postfix does. I told him I do not believe Dovecot supports that. I could not find any documentation relating to it. 1) Does Dovecot support Berkeley DB? 2) Are their any plans to incorporate that feature into Dovecot?

Doesn't "runtime suspend" mean an individual device is suspended while the rest of the system remains active? If so, maybe it would be more direct to say "PCI devices not bound to a driver cannot be runtime

SMB gurus: please help - I am desperate.
I apologize up front for re-posting this, but I need to find a solution to this problem. I have been having hard time to believe that there isn't one person among the SMB gurus that doesn't know how a W2K client connects to an SMB server. So, if you happen to know even the slightest hint to this baffling problem, I would be forever grateful. OK. Here goes (original subject line was:

checkUsage from codetools shows errors when function uses functions from loaded packages
Dear list members, I frequently program small scripts and wrap them into functions to be able to check them with checkUsage. In case these functions (loaded via source or copy pasted to the R console) use functions from other packages, I get this error: no visible global function definition for ?xxxxxxx? For example: test = function() { require(plotrix) color.legend() }

[LLVMdev] How to lower the intrinsic function 'llvm.objectsize'?
Thanks for your reply. I'm attempting to expand KLEE to support this intrinsic function. That's why I need to handle this myself. According to the reply, the correct implementation should first find the definition of the object and then determine the size of the object. BTW, can I just refer to the implementation in InstCombineCalls.cpp. On Wed, Nov 5, 2014 at 2:24 PM, Matt Arsenault
