yum install nagios, adding dag repository
Hi,
I'm running an Opteron 64 bit server, and in an effort to re-join it to my
nagios monitoring, I have tried the install nagios via Yum.
When I type:
yum install nagios, or nagios-nrpe, or nagios-plugins, I get:
"Nothing to do". as output.
In wanting to add the DAG repository to my machine, the documentation i've
come across seems vague.
Can someone advise me on either of

It took me a while, but I found this in my yum.conf file:

can't "yum install mplayer" : no libmpcdec.so.3 available
Just upgraded to 5.4 yesterday morning. (Kudos to those who did that!)
That's probably irrelevant to this problem:
"yum install mplayer" fails. Here's what happens:

additional yum repos for 4.3
Hi;
On my Fedora Systems [/etc/yum.repos.d] I have the following repos:
dag.repo
dries.repo
fedora-extras.repo
fedora.repo
fedora-updates.repo
freshrpms.repo
livna.repo
Two questions:
1) Where can I get a .repo file (with centos url's of course) for the
baseic stuff like updates and extras.
1b) Can I use redhat repos?
2) What about the other guys, livna, dag, dries, freshrpms.

playing mp3's
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
My main system is Fedora. To get mp3's working I added freshrpms to my
yum.conf file. This allowed me to install xmms-mp3.
Should I add freshrpms to CentOS?
I searched google and didn't find much on this topic. If there is
another way to get mp3's and other multimedia working I would like to know.

xmms-mp3
Hi,
I have a (stupid?) problem getting xmms-mp3 added to a CentOS 3.1 desktop:
'xmms' is the distro one, and 'xmms-mp3' comes from Dag Wieers (I used to
use freshrpms on redhat 9, but for some reason freshrpms doesn't do rhel3).
Any ideas?

perl dependency problems in dag's repo
Hi
I know this might not be the right list.
There are some dependency problems with perl packages in dag's repo.
This is not the first perl package which doesn't install because of this
kind of dependency.
Any idea?

Oracle instantclient on CentOS 4.4 with DBD::Oracle
Does anyone have experience on installing the Oracle instantclient and
DBD::Oracle on CentOS 4.4.
I have been having several issues with getting the RPMs from Oracle's site
working with DBD::Oracle. I can get the oracle instant client to install
without issue. But I cannot compile/install DBD::Oracle using cpan or
cpan2rpm.
I found http://freshrpms.net/docs/oracle/ which has a nosrc rpm

Re: [users] CentOS 4.2 dag repo problem.
Hello,
It would be nice if we could get a full list of packages which have a wrong
sha1 checksum. I don't have the bandwidth for a full mirror of all of Dag's
rpms and i also don't have shell access to such a mirror. So a small
request for a mirror admin:
The following checks the files repodata/*.xml.gz against the sha1 sums in
repomd.xml and checks the RPMS/*.rpm files against

Graphical frontend for gphoto2? (Handling photo cameras in XFCE)
Hi,
I'm using CentOS 5.1 with the latest XFCE-4.4 desktop. I try to stick as
much as possible to the UNIX tools philosophy, one app per task. For
viewing images, I installed GQView. But right now, I wonder what I could
probably use for handling photo imports from digital cameras. GThumb
tends to be very unmodular, e. g. drawing in many GNOME dependencies,
and besides that, I already have

Still Cannot Install rimage in R-1.7.1 (RH 9.0) Even With fftw Installed
I'm still having problems installing rimage - the installation can't
find the fftw headers. As suggested, I installed the fftw rpm (for RH 9
from freshrpms). It installed without any errors or warnings. Yet I get
exactly the same error message - it can't find the fftw headers.
What do I have to do to get the headers?

Puppetd stops when the puppermaster doesn't answer
Hi,
Since upgrading from 0.24 to 0.25, I''ve seen repeatedly puppetd clients
just stop when they''re unable to reach the puppetmaster for a while.
With the normal logging level, they just seem to stop without writing
anything in their log.
I''ve seen this with 0.25.1rc1, rc2 and final, which are all of the
0.25.x I''ve tried (always with the same version on

MySQL auth issues?
Hi,
Since my last email about RHEL4 problems on x86_64, I've kept trying to
figure out what the problem might be, and just ran into a reply to an old
email I sent to the list, which I had missed. It suggests that the issue
might be in the MySQL authentication that I'm using.
Here is a more detailed log entry, with auto debugging on :
