tftp-hpa bug on aliased interface and recent kernels.
So as of recent kernels, this change helps: http://git.kernel.org/?p=network/tftp/tftp-hpa.git;a=commitdiff;h=c6d2c36b1a2b1986cab7aebb72d120fa118bdfeb But there is still a flaw. Notably, if tftpd is running with AF_UNSPEC (as it will if ipv6 support is desired), myrecvfrom will fail to setsockopt to get the data back on the first pass. I'd guess the least disruptive change to get to be

winbind, ads, win2k3, trusted domains, user mapping
I have been ready everything I can regarding this setup but am having a problem that I am unsure of. I am unable to authenticate any user despite the following commands working: %> getent passwd <username> %> wbinfo -u %> wbinfo -g With the getent passwd I am able to see all of my UID/GID being mapped via winbdind to the rid of the domain user account. This command fails: %>

[tftp-hpa] [BUG] Bad src address on replies from aliased interfaces
Hi, we're running tftp-hpa on a machine which will have to accept packets on an aliased IP (for service redundancy and fallback). The server is reachable using the alias, but replies using the primary IP of the interface, which provokes a timeout on the client. The workaround is to run tftp stand-alone and to explicitly specify the alias IP on the command-line -- however this is not very

AD Authentication help please?
I am having a problem which with much help from this list I have gotten 90% complete. I am attempting to create a samba server which will authenticate users as a Domain member server using active directory. The question I have is how can I map a specific container which is not an OU but a CN in the active directory? Any help is appreciated. -- Jason Gerfen "My girlfriend threated to

Can't get hpa-tftpd working on Slackware 9.1
Hi, I have a question on tftpd on Slackware - I know this is an embedded Linux forum, but I think it still must be the appropriate place to ask. I have hpa-tftpd V0.40 on Slackware 9.1. No matter what I do, I can't get files transferred to the tftp server. I just get timeouts - no messages in /var/log/messages or in /var/log/syslog - just dealthly silence. This is the configuration line

leaving ports open for tftp
hey guys, I have a really silly question for you! I just built a cobbler server that I am using to bare metal some boxes. But I am a bit n00b and need to figure out which ports to open in iptables. Here's a start: xinetd 2031 root 8u IPv4 94306 UDP *:tftp in.tftpd 9203 root cwd DIR 253,0 4096 588097 /tftpboot

tftp trouble
I am trying to tftp from a cisco router on my lan, but it is not working. All I see are these errors in the log. I can "tftp localhost" without a problem as well. Any suggestions on what I can check next? I don't see too much troubleshooting available search via google. Thanks. windows share vs. linux share access
Hello again, I am seeing something I never thought I would see. I can open a dos prompt on a windows machine and map a drive to the samba server using the ADS authentication and read/write from the share etc. My problem is if I try to mount the samba share from a linux client I receive errors. Is there anything special about linux commands such as: %> mount -t smbfs -o username=USERNAME

tftp-hpa loads but stalls
Hello, I am attempting pxelinux via dhcpd/tftpd. If I use the system default tftpd daemon, then pxelinux loads but then complains about the tsize option. I've downloaded tftp-hpa-0.34, compiled and installed. I also edited inetd.conf according to README.security and then reloaded inetd. /tftpboot directory and all files and directories have nobody:nobody for permissions with at least read

Unexpected TFTP Traffic
I am doing yet another variation on diskless clients using Red Hat 9, tftp-hpa 0.34, and pxelinux. The client's Ethernet card is Intel 1000/100/10. My clients are booting OK, except that some new traffic has been occurring. Here is what gets logged on the server: Feb 25 00:34:20 localhost dhcpd: DHCPACK on 192.168.1.101 to 00:07:e9:0f:e9:d3 via eth0 Feb 25 08:34:20 localhost

Samba/AD/Winbbind OU vs. CN?
I have encountered a problem so I am posting this question to both the technical list as well as the normal user list for a solution. When I initially joined the samba box to the Win2k domain as a member server I followed the Samba 3 HOWTO and specified the OU in the Active Directory. After speaking with our boss this is not the correct OU for the users we need to authenticate. My question

Okay guys, This is separate from my last few messages. Along with those attempts, I decided to migrate from pxelinux.0 to gpxelinux.0 in my existing setup. Admittedly I haven't tried previous gpxelinux.0's but I am willing to if someone thinks it would be useful. Everything works as expected with pxelinux.0 of the same version.
