Questions re PXELINUX
I have been using PXELINUX for a while and appreciate all you guys are doing!
I have a couple of questions re PXELINUX:
1. I am experiencing problems with the LOCALBOOT statement on an IBM x3650. IBM mentions the following:
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5084755
I am using PXELINUX 4.04. Is this problem still attributed to some bug in PXELINUX? Right now I

Version 3.35 problems with Broadcom BCM5780 chipset
I have used the SYSLINUX 3.35 successfully to boot up vesamenu.c32
as well as menu.c32 on an HP Intel PC (Intel 965 chipset) and a few
other types of PCs.
But when I use those very same SYSLINUX menus on an AMD Opteron server
(IBM x326m), it is capable of loading up vesamenu.c32 and menu.c32
and displaying a list of menu items. But as soon as I select any item
whatsoever in the menu list, the

Sluggish server with big array
Hi!
I am experiencing strange behavior with my new CentOS 6.3
installation (system up to date). I have a big 11 TB EXT4 array mounted
on /home/data. The server is a Tyan 2U (TA26-B3992-E) with Dual Opteron
2216, one cpu has 4 Gigs RAM and the other has 8 Gigs (so 12 Gigs
total). The server uses 8 x Seagate 2TB SAS hard disks (7200 RPM) and
all the disks are grouped together to form 1

[PATCH 0/4] [AMD IOMMU] Enable PCI passthru for HVM guest
Hi,
The following 4 patches enable direct device assignment (PCI passthru)
for HVM guest
on AMD IOMMU platforms. Please apply them against C/S 16491 as the named
order.
To enable AMD IOMMU, please add "enable_amd_iommu" as xen boot
parameter.
1-cleanup.patch: code cleanup, bug fix, minor enhancements to existing
amd-iommu codes.
2-passthru-amd.patch: passthru support, modifications to

sem: negative parameter variances
Dear Spencer and Prof. Fox,
Thank you for your replies. I'll very appreciate, if you have any ideas concerning the problem described below.
First, I'd like to describe the model in brief.
In general I consider a model with three equations.
First one is for annual GRP growth - in general it looks like:
1) GRP growth per capita = G(investment, migration, initial GRP per

xcalls - mpstat vs dtrace
HI,
T5220, S10U4 + patches
mdb -k
> ::memstat
While above is working (takes some time, ideally ::memstat -n 4 to use 4 threads could be useful) mpstat 1 shows:
CPU minf mjf xcal intr ithr csw icsw migr smtx srw syscl usr sys wt idl
48 0 0 1922112 9 0 0 8 0 0 0 15254 6 94 0 0
So about 2mln xcalls per second.
Let''s check with dtrace:

syslinux 4.02 hangs at "boot:"
Hi all,
I have a machine that won't boot syslinux 4.02 but will boot syslinux
3.53. We've installed syslinux 4.02 on a number of machines but only
this one has a problem.
The problem is that the machine hangs entirely after printing "boot:" on
the tty. The stanza being booted in /boot/extlinux.conf is:
label xe
# XenServer
kernel mboot.c32
append /boot/xen.gz

Hwo to disable the polling function of mac_srs
In crossbow, each mac_srs has a kernel thread called "mac_rx_srs_poll_ring"
to poll the hardware and crossbow will wakeup this thread to poll packets
from the hardware automatically. Does crossbow provide any method to disable
the polling mechanism, for example disabling the this kernel thread?
Thanks

PXELINUX booting delays with dual Ethernet ports
We're using PXELINUX for bootstrapping the network install our Linux cluster
nodes. We just got some new IBM 326m dual-Opteron servers with Broadcom
NetXtreme BCM5780 dual-Gigabit Ethernet ports.
These dual-Ethernet servers work in an annoying way with PXELINUX when we
configure for booting from the local hard disk as the PXE-client downloads
this file from the DHCP/TFTP server:

How to configure read-only access during a migration?

Find the simplest way to

B) Do the above while allowing a master_user to access mail on behalf
of real users. (I've got master_user access

The amazing smartctl -a /dev/hda
I finally fixed my drive error problem. This has been going on quite a
while. I've posted before with no success on getting this fixed.
I was getting these errors.

SeekComplete Error }
Dec 4 04:03:10 bikesn4x4s kernel: hda: dma_intr: error=0x84 {

how to debug context switching and mutex contentions?
I''m looking for a suggestion on a good way to hunt down the source of
high context switching and mutex contentions...
Is dtrace the way to go now, or should I stick with something like lockstat?

gzip compression throttles system?
I just had a quick play with gzip compression on a filesystem and the
result was the machine grinding to a halt while copying some large
(.wav) files to it from another filesystem in the same pool.
The system became very unresponsive, taking several seconds to echo
keystrokes. The box is a maxed out AMD QuadFX, so it should have plenty
of grunt for this.
Comments?

Lattice Plot formatting problem/s
Hi
I am having difficulty getting the right format for a lattice plot I am
trying to produce.
Here is a pic of the plot as I get it now

and here is the code I am using:
