isolinux on a pendrive from disk 1
Hi
I just grabbed an 8gig thumb drive, took disk 1 centos 4 i386,
copied the isolinux directory files to my thumbdrive, then ran syslinux
-sf /dev/sdc1
on the device plugged it into my laptop and it does not boot.
Is there a step(s) I am missing to get a bootable thumbdrive with centos?
Thanks,
Jerry

Mount LVM
Hi guys,
sorry if this is trivial, but I have been googling a couple days and
already compromised a test disk trying to figure this out, so I thought
it is time to ask for some advice. I have a disk that comes from a clean
and working CentOS4.2 install, and I am trying to use an external usb to
ide converter to mount it on another workstation with CentOS4.2. I am
trying this to better

EL9/udev generates wrong device nodes/symlinks with HPE Smart Array controller
Hi,
I see some strange and dangerous things happening on a HPE server with HPE
Smart Array controller where EL9 ends up with wrong device nodes/symlinks

(I didn't touch anything here but at 08:09 some symlinks were changed)

sdc3 / lvm
and the system cannot boot - hangs forever.

Multiboot pendrive with GPT - a tricky solution which could improve syslinux behavior
Hello!
I'm posting some experiences with GRUB0/1 + sys/extlinux + MBR/GPT in a
pendrive with 15 partitions. This could be helpful improving
sys/extlinux.
I did make a bootable pendrive with 14 distros using a GPT partition
table and a tricky solution to let sys/extlinux boot from every
partition chainloaded from GRUB (GRUB0 or GRUB1).
Having a MBR schema, sys/extlinux can't be

F18: Create a USB install of CentOS 6 from iso
Hi all,
On a F18, I installed livecd-tools-18.15-1
I downloaded CenOS6.x minimal .iso and with livecd-iso-to-disk the
resulting USB is never bootable: the computer doesnt boot on it. Tested
on many computers.
The fact is I succeded to install CentOS on a Netbook (no CD/DVD tray),
but I dont remember how I invoked livecd-iso-to-disk.
I tried with many combinations (/dev/sdc is the USB

multipath
I have inherited a system set up with multipath, which is not something I
have seen before so I could use some advice
The system is a Dell R420 with 2 LSI SAS2008 HBAs, 4 internal disks, and a
MD3200 storage array attached via SAS cables. Oh and CentOS 6
lsblk shows the following:

CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
Hi Niki,
md127 apparently only uses 81.95GB per disk. Maybe one of the partitions has the wrong size. What's the output of lsblk?

Michael

USB Pendrive automounting
My USB Pendrive gets mounted everytime I put it on the USB port (/dev/sda on
/media/usbdisk). This behaviour is the desired.
Now I want the OS to automaticaly include the mount option
iocharset=iso8859-1 everytime it mounts it.
Is there a way to tell haldaemon (or other software) do this, instead of
hand-editing /etc/fstab ?

USB pendrive with IsoHybrid don't boot on MacBook Pro (EFI)
I'm developing my own Linux-kernel OS

live ISO using IsoHybrid. Point is, it doesn't work on my MacBook Pro
(Quad-core, 2.66GHz, 8GB), only on BIOS-based PCs. rEFInd show a new
"Legacy OS" entry for the pendrive, but after some seconds it shows
the "Not found Operating System -- Insert boot disk and press any

Finally I solved it.
First of all, I had to set the USB drive as a `Managed partition' from the
router web GUI. Secondly, its right address was `//192.168.1.2/Shared' and not
