pxelinux localboot enhancement
pxelinux, when given a localboot=... option, will try to boot next bios device itself. The problem is it takes next BIOS device by BIOS order of enumeration. That has no connection with the boot order defined in BIOS. Since a user cannot control BIOS enumeration but can control the boot order, there is no way one can force a desired next device for local boot with pxelinux. In general, you

How to add option dhcp-class-identifier "PXEClient"; with ISH DHCPD v3
hi, a little question regarding pxe-stuff. I need the boot menu known from Intel PXE PDK so I need to run pxe service on redhat 8.0 with dhcpd 3 I run pxe and dhcpd on the same server. So the dhcpd server should give an extra parameter to pxe-clients. On Redhat 7.3 with dhcpd v2 this was done with the option: option dhcp-class-identifier "PXEClient"; On dhcpd v3 this option is

Importing data into R
Hello. I have been working with GeoDA, and have created a spatial weights file for my data. I am now looking to use R to run regressions on this data. However, I don't know and can't figure out how to get my data into R to run these regressions. I have the data in many formats, from a .dbf file to an Excel spreadsheet, but I'm not sure how to go about importing it into R. Could

syslinux.efi and vendor-class-identifier
We've been successfully installing Linux using pxelinux to bootstrap our Linux (CentOS) installs for many years, but we are about to take delivery of hardware that doesn't have legacy BIOS boot support for internal drives - so I'm making my first foray into the world of EFI - and can _almost_ get it all to work, but hit an issue that I'm not sure how to 'fix' ...

Default PXE boot timeout
Hello all, I have a NFSroot'ed a couple of OS platforms so that servers can have the option (web access) to: a. boot off a CentOS NFS root over the network b. or LOCAL hardrive (FreeBSD). A Simple script controls this so that if user selects NFS root - - /etc/dhcpd.conf will be updated to include the filename "pxelinux.0" parameter and it will find its configuration file based

Booting a non linux application via pxe
Hello I have an application running on top of the ORK (Open Ravenscar Kernel). The file format of the executable is elf: $ file /var/tftp/hello.vmic7750 /var/tftp/hello.vmic7750: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, not stripped I wonder if I can use pxelinux for booting the kernel via network on the target machine. The target machine support PXE. I

Has anyone any insight as to why RedHat Enterprise Level 5 is broken as far as PXE booting is concerned.
Hi ALL Has anyone any insight as to why RedHat Enterprise Level 5 is broken as far as PXE booting is concerned. Is there a Protocol communication problem ???????? Are there alternative tftp-severs that work for the RHEL5.. It seems: the PXE CLIENT when booting cannot access files in the "pxelinux.cfg" dir RHEL4 works just fine !! ( kernel 2.6.9-22.EL) with

PXE problem after CentOS reboot
Dear folks, We are installing a large diskless cluster using CentOS 5.1. The hardware is pretty new - Supermicro X7DWT boards with Harpertown CPUs. Unfortunately we have some PXE-related problems described by the following scenario: 1) Set up DHCP, TFTP and NFS on a server, prepare PXE kernel and initrd - fine. 2) Start up the node using PXE for the first time - fine. 3) Reboot the node - PXE

PXE Boot Menu with iSCSI and AOE!
Dear developer, I am working on a project for my graduate work (diploma), which includes iSCSI and AOE booting. I made some menus using pxelinux and things are working fine with linux, but I have a small problem with windows system which require direct iscsi or aoe access. I have dhcpd.conf setup that it to each first dhcp request handles out pxelinux.0, then I can chooose from that menu which OS

pxe weirdness
I know that this is not a pxelinux/syslinux question (yet), but I am having a weird issue with a HP ML370. It is using HP UNDI PXE 2.1 (build 082) v 3.1.15 I successfully get an IP address from my DHCP server, but the machine fails when it attempts to make it's TFTP connection with: "PXE-E32 - TFTP Open timeout" It never gets the pxelinux.0 file. The odd thing I noticed was

Passing option-209 to PXE client w/ ISC DHCPD V2
Does anyone remember if there is a way to coerce the ISC DHCPD version 2 (2.0pl5) to send options to a PXE client that does not explicitly request them. I can do this in version 3 of DHCPD via the vendor-option-space mechanism, but this is not available in version 2 of the server (the version my network switch uses). I want to be able to specify the PXE filename via option 209 (plus option 208

error when samba-tool domain classicupgrade
When you try to upgrade on a test stand, an error occurs. I do not understand that you need to add ldap, or improve migration script? Before that I tried to version 4.1.7, but the error was the sam root at dc1:~/smb_old# samba --version Version 4.2.2-SerNet-Ubuntu-7.trusty I also modified the file --- ./upgrade.py 2014-10-01 00:00:00.000000000 +0600 +++

[pxelinux] fix for Realtek PXE implementation
I found (and fixed) a problem with my realtek onboard 8139 controller. dhcpd server sends filename "pxelinux.0" but realtek requests "pxelinux.0\377" (i.e. the octal character 377 is appended), resulting in a file not found during the tftpd phase. I fixed this by adding a mapping to tftpd: # strip ending garbage from filenames (Realtek PXE bug) r ^([[:graph:]]*)(.+)$ \1

3.6.23-25.el6_7 and 4.2.10 and "Domain Admins" are/not Admins?
hi all I have two different Samba versions as PDC and BDC and depending on which one is "domain master" users which are domain admins are not recognized as such. Everything seems normal with 3.6.23-25.el6_7 as "domain master" but when I configure them so 4.2.10 is the master then I login to Win7 fine but Windows tells me that the user is not an Admin and I need to supply
