pxelinux+memdisk experience & problem..
hi:
i try to make some images for pxelinux+memdisk.
the version i try is 2.0.6 and 2.0.7pre5
for 2.88M floppy image, first i make a 1.44M boot floopy,
then use "winimage" to load the disk and transfer it to
2.88M format, then save the image. it seems a easy way to make
a 2.88M boot image.
for harddisk image, i use vmware to build a virtual machine
with 20M harddisk, make it boot

Bug-report: Booting DOS images from USB
Hi,
I'm doing a small hobby project writing some tools to put DOS boot images
and Linux rescue images on a USB stick.
For this I have partitioned my USB stick in 2 partitions, one 192MB
partition with a VFAT filesystem (for the normal use) and a second
partition with an ext3 filesystem.
My aim was to provide a graphical menu (grub) to access the different
images using memdisk. Since

I'm trying to boot Feature Tool 2.08 (free download from

Xen EFI boot how to?
I have a IBM System x3600 series server with UEFI.
I managed to compile the xen EFI (xen-4.2-unstable.efi).
The machine is currently running Ubuntu with grub2.
I can see a grubx64.efi in /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi
Where should I put the xen efi ?
I tried creating a efi/EFI/xen/xen-4.2-unstable.efi and added it as a boot option using efibootmgr.
All I get in that case is a blank screen.

blame-transfer protocol on PXE boot
hpa, etal,
pxelinux works great from a push of the reset button.
machine boots normally.
However, after i issue 'reboot' command, my box fails to find the tftp
server during reboot.
This looks to be happening before pxelinux has any chance to participate,
so it cannot be to blame.
Im seeking corroboration here before I go badgering the bios-provider

[Fedora-xen] Xen, Linux and EFI.
Hey,
There has been some discussion about EFI and SecureBoot and such.
Most of the time I get questions in the form of "How do I get Fedora 17
with Xen to do EFI", I am going to concentrate on Fedora, but I think
this applies to other distros too.
From my reading (I hadn't actually tried EFI yet), there are two ways
to bootup a system:
- Using grub2.efi. Grub2 does the EFI API

9.1 minimal ram requirements
Guys, I've heard about some absurd RAM requirements
for 9.1, has anybody tested it?

890FX AMD-Vi (IOMMU)
Hello,
I was hoping someone might be able to tell me why IOMMU does not seem to be found on my system. At the very least is there any way I can get more debug information in addition to adding iommu=verbose to the command line?

Guestfish errors (Running in VirtualBox)
Hi All,
I am trying to run guestfish inside an Ubuntu instance running in VirtualBox. I'm running into problems, and my first question, is this setup even possible?
I compiled and installed libguestfs-1.8.4.
Running libguestfs-test-tool fails with the following output.
Would appreciate any advice,

ACPI: Unable to find RSDP problem with centos 5.5 but not 5.3
Two more observations: (adding to my previous below email)
1) Centos 5.6 also showing the same ACPI errors as in CentOS 5.5
2)BIOS-E820 map has a difference in the first line: (0000000000010000
instead of 0000000000000000)

video issue - Intel Atom based motherboard D2500HN
Hi all,
I recently bought a Intel D2500HN motherboard with Intel GMA 3600 video
card.
I want to install FreeBSD 9-Release on it via PXE, but after booting the
system, it seems that video card driver doesn't work properly.
Have a look at this picture:

I've tried the

but unfortunately it doesn't help.

More on Problems with PXELinux and ramdisk not loading
Had to changed the Subject header because the mailing list software thought the previous one ("so old bootloader" ...) was suspicious.
Just a backgrounder and a little more info I've gathered:

memdisk load failure on HP DL360g9
Hi all,
I have observed a problem where, under legacy BIOS booting mode on the
DL360g9, memdisk fails to execute. The same mechanism works fine on the
DL360g8. The system displays the below on the console and ceases to
respond and must be power cycled. Updating the firmware didn't help.
There didn't appear to be any similar issues on the mailing list unless I
missed them.

Hm... it is odd that 03dda0f1 etc. didn't fix this.
Since this is extremely likely to be dependent on the memory map, this
