smbldap-tools and phpldapadmin
All,
I suspect this is OT, or a solution may have been posted. Either way, I beg your
indulgence.
While I've used Samba for quite a few years, I recently took a stab at using it in an
organization I volunteer at to create a PDC, in conjunction with openldap. The good
news is it works, for the most part, after some set-up struggles. I have a couple of
remaining issues, but let me take them

Mapping Attributes While Using Winbind?
I'm working on testing out using winbind in our environment for user info and authentication. Our 2K8 R2 AD DS set up has all of the rfc2307 attributes populated for objects that need to appear on the Unix machines and everything is working splendidly. One thing I'd like to know is, we have some instances where users' AD accounts are not the same as their unix id's (matching them

VGA Capture
Hey lists,
This is somewhat OT, but just a little.
I want to capture live (5 fps?) 1024x768 VGA and make mpeg or something I can
stream over the net.
The application is this: Developer meetings and conferences. "all" speakers
bring their laptops and hook up to the 1024x768 projector. I want to broadcast
that over the net. (I may point a web cam at the presenter too and have

floppy image issues
Hi!
sorry for the top post.
I have had some troubles in the past trying to make equipment to
boot a floppy with MS-DOS that also used ms networking to access
the network.
Particularly the Gateway GSX 500 cannot have the onboard NIC with
PXE enabled, as it eats about 92k of highmemory, which in turn
makes impossible to start Windows XP setup due to low memory.
On that particular machine I had

PCMCIA card
Hello,
Are there any T1/E1 PCMCIA cards available on the market supported by
zaptel drivers and asterisk ?
I need to make some demos at my clients with asterisk and it's a pain to
move around with a midi-tower computer just for that.
Thanks,
Calin.

How to make an initrd for xen
Hi
How do I make an initrd for xen.
I''m trying to boot rhel3 in fc4, and it keeps getting stuck at
Freeing unused kernel memory.
I''ve created the device files, but it still doesn''t boot up. I''m
pretty sure that the solution lies in makeing an initrd file.
Currently my xenU kernel is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4xen0. Can someone please
tell me how to do this?

basic question on how to compile 2.4 xen
Hi
Can someone help me figure out a way to compile a 2.4 kernel in a 2.6
system. Basically it keeps failing because it needs the genksyms
package, which is provided in the modutils package from redhat, but
obviously this isn''t presetn on the 2.6 kernel.
I was wondering how the xen maintainers go about compiling their 2.4
kernel and 2.6 kernel. Do you do it on different systems then

Samba clients disconnect periodically
I am using Samba 3.0.10 with Red hat (4.5) as samba fileserver. It is
very basic setup with Ldap setup.
All of our desktop (Windows and MAC) clients (>250) simultaneously
started dropping their connections to our Samba fileserver. Since then,
I have tested with RHEL5 and SuSE with Samba 3.0.23c, 24 and 25. None
the latested fix this problem.
So I downgraded to samba 3.0.10 and it works

A HowTo guide?
I've very new to this... what I want to achieve, is to have my clients
network boot - and then be presented with a menu, allowing them *well,
me* to choose what to do.
Maybe, boot from the main hard disk, or boot a disk image from a samba
share, or maybe even boot a CD image, instead of having the actual CD in
the drive.
Also, I would want to be able to change this menu, without actually

SAMBA ADS to NIS mapping
I am working in an environment with an HP-UX NIS that my Red Hat ES 4.x
system is using for Unix access controls.
My Red Hat system is serving as an NFS server for the HP-UX users who also
could be Windows users coming from a Windows Server 2003 active directory.
I have tested some configurations of SAMBA using winbind, but I don't get
the results I want. What happens when using winbind

VGA Capture
i am a bit confused to what you want...do you mean you want a scan converter?
you can plug a vga out of the laptops to the scan converter, take another vga from the scan converter to a projector, and a svhs or composite out from the scan
converter to the encoding machine
you can buy them for about 200 USD or less
or do i misunderstand your question?

[LLVMdev] Alternate instruction sequences
I was wondering, is there any way to express in the IR that an
instruction/instruction sequence/basic
block/region/function/module/whatever is an alternate version of
another? e.g. let's keep things simple and say that I have an
instruction I. An optimization pass reads it and could be able to
produce one or more functionally-equivalent instructions I1, ..., In

Q: passing DHCP options to the booted linux-kernel?
Hello everybody!
I'm using pxelinux to boot my kernel. I'd like to pass the DHCP values to the
kernel (router, ip-address, ...) so that the kernel can use it without having
to obtain a new lease.
I've searched the mailing list and the net and found the DHCP option to
specify other configfiles, but I couldn't find out how to make pxelinux pass
the dhcp values to the kernel
