Any workaround for ThinkPad memdisk?
Hi, I saw the Nov. 2006 message on Memdisk having a problem with ThinkPads. I also saw the comment in the memdisk code enabling and disabling A20. I've got a ThinkPad x61t that memdisk is not loading disk images on. The symptom is that it gets as far as saying "Loading boot sector... booting..." Then image partially runs - FreeDOS prints out its kernel message and it's

Booting problem with memdisk + Thinkpad + USB
Hi, I encountered a booting problem with memdisk 2.83, USB and IBM Thinkpad T61, apparently the same issue as described here: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2008-April/009850.html The boot process always stops after "Loading boot sector... booting...". With debug tracers enabled, the last few output lines are: Loading boot sector... FR<p>Dbooting...

Laptop+SDMMC+Extlinux+Memdisk+Floppy images=headaches
Hello syslinuxers I'm stuck with a scientific problem which gives me headaches: I have a laptop (Gateway MX3410) which has a SD memory card reader. Recently an interesting thought crossed my mind: why don't I setup a 2GB SD card as a harddrive and put some rescue tools on it. So I dug on the net and I came across the idea of using memdisk to boot floppy images without the need of a

problem booting msdos with memdisk
I have the same problem. I can not boot a floppy disk. Once I did it but no longer I can do this. I think there is some problem in the new versions of PXELinux. -----Original Message----- From: syslinux-bounces at zytor.com [mailto:syslinux-bounces at zytor.com] On Behalf Of Quinn Plattel Sent: Thursday, September 28, 2006 7:04 PM To: syslinux at zytor.com Subject: Re: [syslinux] problem booting

Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
We have tried compiling the binaries our self and using the pre-compiled in the syslinux tar ball as well. It just locks up with the text we provided. The problem is booting from CD, booting from USB works. I suspect the problem is in isolinux.bin. The CD only fails on this one machine. It works on everything else we tried. 4.06 worked without any issue on this same machine. Parted Magic has been

chainload back pxelinux from Grub4DOS?
Dear everyone, I have a simple and silly question. I'm using pxelinux in a small LAN - I'm using it to boot a few universal profiles based on Linux and DOS. I have a simple DOS-based "screensaver" (winter background theme with snow falling down) that I'd like to hook up as a default profile (say after 5 minutes timeout) into the PXElinux boot menu. That works - the

Linux SYSLINUX vs SYSLINUX.EXE
To all or anyone: I have a very strange problem when using syslinux, and lnx-bbc. Perhaps somebody can provide some insight into Syslinux as it relates to what I'm trying to do. At Peerless, we use LNX-BBC to build a bootable USB thumbdrive. We added a script to init.d in the ram disk to execute one our scripts during LNX-BBC boot from the USB thumb drive. I have seen an apparent

Create ThinkPad R61i laptop page
Hi, I just purchased a new ThinkPad R61i since my R40 died. I previously ran CentOS 4 on my old one, but have loaded CentOS 5 on the new one. I'd like to add whatever I can regarding my hardware. I followed the directions for adding a laptop page, but I was never promoted to enter any information after choosing the laptop template. I did login with my username first as well. The page would

Proposed Wiki Edit - /HowTos/Laptops/IBM/Thinkpad-T43
Hi all; I just installed CentOS 5.6 on my IBM ThinkPad T43 and would like to add my experiences such far. The laptop I have is a different model than the previous editor's laptop (notably, it has an ATI Mobility Radeon X300, which required special drivers from elrepo, as opposed to the Intel graphics chip in the previous editor's laptop) and I think this bears mentioning in addition to

CentOS 5 on a Thinkpad T60 laptop
Hello, I'm considering buying a second-hand Thinkpad T60 (with 2 GB RAM), as a secondary laptop in order to run CentOS 5 on the field. My main focus is therefore to have something robust, reliable and above all well compatible with CentOS. Hibernate / suspend feature are important to me, because that's the main issue I have with CentOS on other laptops. I have found the following

isolinux on a pendrive from disk 1
Hi I just grabbed an 8gig thumb drive, took disk 1 centos 4 i386, copied the isolinux directory files to my thumbdrive, then ran syslinux -sf /dev/sdc1 on the device plugged it into my laptop and it does not boot. Is there a step(s) I am missing to get a bootable thumbdrive with centos? Thanks, Jerry
