Chaining from PXELinux to some other boot loader
Hi I am using PXELinux to boot BartPE and some other application and it works fine. There are some other Boot application which I am using 3COM MBAUTIL PXE.mnu and floppy images. I have problem chaining from pxelinux.0 to 3com pxe.0 (pxe.mnu). Consider: BIOS->(DHCP-TFTP)->pxelinux.0 works fine. BIOS->(DHCP-TFTP)->3COM pxe.mnu works fine, the menu appears and I can choose a floppy

memdisk: DOS as a PreOS
Hello! Is it possible to load a virtual DOS Floppy with memdisk to do a few things (e.g. scan for viruses, copy a hard disk image from the network to the local disk) and continue booting from the local hard disk without a reboot? Cheers Alex

problem booting msdos with memdisk
I have the same problem. I can not boot a floppy disk. Once I did it but no longer I can do this. I think there is some problem in the new versions of PXELinux. -----Original Message----- From: syslinux-bounces at zytor.com [mailto:syslinux-bounces at zytor.com] On Behalf Of Quinn Plattel Sent: Thursday, September 28, 2006 7:04 PM To: syslinux at zytor.com Subject: Re: [syslinux] problem booting

PXE menu file problem
Hi everybody Attached you will find a file pxe.mnu (encoded with mime). It is PXE menu file created by 3COM MBA IMGEdit.exe tool. It is very strange since: 1) When I point DHCP bootfile to this file it loads with no problem and the menu is displayed. 2) When I point DHCP bootfile to pxelinux.0 and in pxelinux.cfg I put the command "KERNEL pxe.mnu" then system hangs. I wonder why this

PBOOT and BpPatch on PXELinux
Hi In MBA Utilities there are two usefull utilites name PBOOT.exe and BPPATCH.exe which helps booting to local in a DOS floppy image and also patching a text file (like a batch file) by different DHCP options (like ip, server, boot filename) and .... They are not working under MemDisk although I have specified keeppxe. Do you know any solution? Behrad

Pxelinux/memdisk with XP "MS-DOS" boot disk
I'm trying to use this universal DOS TCP/IP boot disk available here: http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/ It requires an MS-DOS formatted disk created by Windows XP. It works great as a floppy but doesn't boot at all with memdisk. The problem can be simplified down to just the XP boot disk. If you make an MS-DOS startup disk with XP on a floppy, dd the floppy to an image

Help Memdisk + Pxelinux hangs
Hello, I am a *nix newbie I am trying to boot a DOS boot disk using PXE (to Ghost on windows images). We have an existing PXE server which successfully serves out PXElinux and Fedora builds based on that but my floppy disk image with memdisk isn't working I have tried a few different floppy images which people have posted as ones that work for them but I doubt the disk is the problem

pxelinux+memdisk experience & problem..
hi: i try to make some images for pxelinux+memdisk. the version i try is 2.0.6 and 2.0.7pre5 for 2.88M floppy image, first i make a 1.44M boot floopy, then use "winimage" to load the disk and transfer it to 2.88M format, then save the image. it seems a easy way to make a 2.88M boot image. for harddisk image, i use vmware to build a virtual machine with 20M harddisk, make it boot

Thanks for pxelinux & memdisk
This message is from Luis F. Correia, who unfortunately could not post it himself to the list.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Hi! I would like to thank you, H. Peter Anvin for creating this wonderful set of tools. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of proper examples in the docs. Syslinux and affiliates would certainly improve

pxeLinux on an Intel SE7501WV2 with 82546EB
All: I have recently discovered pxeLinux/memdisk and have been using them without alot of pain in a somewhat unconventional setup.. Win2k DHCP server and tftpd32 on WinXP. Don't throw rocks at me - you use what you've got. Anyways, thanks to HPA for a great tool. I am running into an odd little problem now for which I was wondering if there might be some remedy. On a particular

Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Hello. We've been using a very old version of SYS-/PXELINUX, 3.36, going by the proven "if it works, don't break it" philosophy. We us it mostly to load floppy disk images to kick off OS installations. Unfortunately we've recently had some PXE menu problems (USB keyboard stopped working) for a certain Fujitsu PC model, and decided to upgrade to the latest version, i e 3.84.

alternatives to memdisk for use with pxelinux?
First off, Thank you for pxelinux. It works as expected and for my needs it is a most useful project. I apologize in advance for posting this question as it is in part off topic, but I have searched extensively with little results. Are there any alternatives to memdisk for use with pxelinux for booting troublesome floppy images with such applications that fail to use INT 15h, AX=E820h. Having

Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Good day again Daniel, So the first thing I did was to remove the >NUL for your XMSDSK line and put a PAUSE after it in AUTOEXEC.BAT. That way, I could see the error message: *** XMS RAMdisk v1.9I (FU - 08/98): XMS get free mem error. Then I noticed that if you run AUTOEXEC.BAT manually from the DOS CLI, XMSDSK actually succeeds! So that led to a new test: Duplicate the XMSDSK line. ...

PXElinux & memdisk
I am trying to acheve pxe booting of a image of barts boot disk (www.nu2.nu). I have managed to get LTSP booting via pxelinux, so I know my dhcp/tftp servers are ok. However when I try to boot memdisk with either a stock suselinux boot image file (taken from SuSE 9.1) or my dos disk (created by dd if=/dev/fd0 of=/imagefile) I get output like MEMDISK 2.08 command line : BOOT_IMAGE=memdisk

Loading Xen with PXELinux
Hi All: I found this old message on the web archives. I've gotten Xen working with PXELinux, albeit with something of a hack. The basic chain is: 1. pxelinux 2. memdisk 3. FAT16 floppy image 4. grub installed on floppy image 5. xen.gz and vmlinuz on floppy image While this seems pretty simple, the key bits were to use: 1. FAT16 (not ext2, etc) for the floppy image 2. use the 'raw'

memdisk issues with 3com cards
I'm using pxelinux in an interesting way, to load DOS boot disk images from a win2k RIS (Remote installation Service) to do various functions. Soem of the disk images are used for flashing the BIOS on pcs, but a specific few are set aside for booting MSDOS with MS lanman so that ghost can be run to load images to/from the lan. I've got 6 different disk images setup and the all work
