SYSLINUX 3.31-pre4 is release candidate
I have decided to promote SYSLINUX 3.31-pre4 to release candidate status. If it tests out OK, it will become 3.31 some time next week, probably. -hpa

Releasing a klibc-1.5
I'm thinking it's time to release klibc-1.5; however, before releasing klibc-1.4.31 as klibc-1.5, I wanted to give a call to see if there is anything that either really needs to be done, or any bug reports I've missed... -hpa

(no subject)
Hi, The bios is not able to boot from usb, but only from floppy. I want to boot an Ubuntu-installation from usb. The iso-file was moved with usb-creator to the usb-stick. I have got a boot-floppy, which starts an DamnSmallLinux usb-stick. But this bootfloppy doesn't start the Ubuntu-usb-stick. Which parameters in syslinux.cfg I must change to start Ubuntu-Linux? There are the following

Strange MEMDISK problem with XP Bootfloppy images
Hello all. I am pretty new to this list but I have looked through the archives and did not see any reference to this problem. I have an MS-DOS boot floppy image that I am trying to load using MEMDISK. The disk is simply a boot floppy made using XPSP2. I have tried it on 4 different machines, all Dells. PowerEdge 2650 Server, Latitude D610 Notebook, Optiplex GX280 Desktop and Optiplex GX520

PxeLinux menu.c32 chaining
Hello, many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

KEEPPXE/DOS
First off I love syslinux and it has worked flawless for us on the unix side of the realm. We're trying to use our ghost images within a dos netboot using syslinux. Unfortunatly we can only pass DHCP ip's to hosts that exhibit a vendor code 'like windows/pxe/and other os's do". Unfortunatly DOS does not, so we cannot request a second IP after the pxe process to map samba

syslinux 3.31 will not build on RHEL3
Hi, I've attempted to build 3.31 on RHEL3 but it fails since __DBL_MIN_EXP__ and __DBL_MAX_EXP__ used in com32/lib/math/strtod.c is undefined. I added defines with the values used on RHEL4 (derived from cpp -E -dM < /dev/null) and the build then completes. A quick test did not reveal any ill effects. Is there perhaps a better workaround for this? Another little nit I saw was that

make spotless failure in 3.31
When I build syslinux, I normally do make spotless make but this fails with syslinux-3.31 because of 4 files: ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.background.o.d ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.drawtxt.o.d ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.alphatbl.o.d ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.initvesa.o.d The .initvesa.o.d has some redhat specific path that does not exist on my system: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.1.1/include/stdarg.h If

ISOLINUX versions 3.36 and 3.53 can't boot VIA EPIA CL Motherboard, version 3.31 can
Hi, I'm using Kubuntu and have a problem with the ISOLINUX CDROM booter with versions used since (K)Ubuntu 7.04. The ISOLINUX booter versions 3.36 and 3.53 do not boot my motherboard. The version shipped with Ubuntu 7.04 is I believe ISOLINUX 3.31 but it displays for such a short time I could be wrong. I'm writing to this mail list in case the original Ubuntu bug report never made it

SYSLINUX 3.31 released
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.31. It is functionally identical to SYSLINUX 3.31-pre4. Changes in 3.31: * The simple menu system (menu.c32 and vesamenu.c32) now support loading more than one configuration file at a time, using MENU INCLUDE or by specifying multiple filenames. * The MENU COLOR statement can now control the shadowing mode. SYSLINUX 3.31-pre1 released
Test release; supports loading multiple configuration files at the same time (e.g. to deal with a common layout header) in the simple menu system. Test releases, as always, are at: ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ If you test one, please start with the latest release, since I don't always announce prereleases. -hpa

make spotless fails to remove 4 files: ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.background.o.d ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.drawtxt.o.d ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.alphatbl.o.d ./com32/lib/sys/vesa/.initvesa.o.d This breaks the build since those files require redhat header file locations that don't exist on my system. Now I issue make spotless find . -name '.*.d' -exec rm {} \; make and things work, but I

ONERROR not triggered in PXELINUX 3.31 when ramdisk missing
Hello, I tested some things, and found the following: when the kernel image file is present, but the initrd image is not, ONERROR is not called, and PXELINUX stays in the prompt forever ... Other error scenarios tested okay, a down/unresponding TFTP server can lead to 15-20 minutes delay until all tried filenames timeout out ... Just to let you know :) Andreas -- "The problem is not

Problem with Notepad ++
A little more thought into helping troubleshooting maybe take an ls -l and a properties screen shot in the middle of editing a file. It could be some setting in notepad++ that is interfering with itself. Another kernel vuln. 2.4 up to and including 2.4.29-pre3, 2.6 up to and including 2.6.10
Just a heads-up even though it''s probably not remotely sploitable:: Unprivileged local users can gain elevated (root) privileges. http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/386436/2005-01-04/2005-01-10/0 http://isec.pl/vulnerabilities/isec-0021-uselib.txt
