Comments sought on the graphical menu infrastructure
Hi all,
I would really appreciate feedback on the graphical menu system and its
infrastructure. It's not really clear to me that it's what people want;
it seems to me that it makes more sense than gfxboot, for example (C
rather than pseudo-Forth), but I can understand people would disagree.
Anyway, the more feedback I get the easier it will be to pick a
direction and a priority for

Menus, choices and optional parameters
Hi all,
I'm in need of creating a simple menu where two options must be available:
1) (default) Boot from local harddrive
2) start installation
2) option should display a simple text disclaimer and if agreed it then
would ask for a number from 32 to 254 which is then appended to one of
commandline parameters.
I have quite a lot of experience with [sys|pxe|iso]linux and some

Not a surprise, it's been a while on that one - and I'm not actually
positive I wrote it against the most current thing available then. (I

Re: SYSLINUX Digest, Vol 33, menu.c32 chaining
Hello,
many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

SYSLINUX 3.74 released
Well, here it is. This is a historic Syslinux release -- it's the first
one in 15 years in which the majority of the work was not done by
myself; mostly because of the *huge* effort Erwan and Pierre have put in
on HDT.
I also want to give a special thank you to my new(ish) employer, Intel
Corporation, for letting me continue to work on Syslinux. :)
From here, onward and upward. I

SYSLINUX 3.30-pre5 released: graphical menu should now be fully functional
Hi all,
I have released SYSLINUX 3.30-pre5. This is the first version in which
I think we can consider the graphical menu feature-complete.
I would really appreciate any and all feedback on this particular test
release. Also, if you find a machine on which the graphical menu
*doesn't* work, I would appreciate knowing:
1. does it correctly fall back to the text menu?
2. what is

SYSLINUX 3.62 released
Hello all,
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.62. This is almost identical to
3.62-pre16, with a small number of changes to the Makefiles and
documentation.
The focus of this release has largely been removing build-in
limitations as much as possible. Quite a bit of work has gone into
it.
I'd like to specially thank my employer, rPath Inc.; I've spent a lot
of time on this I wouldn't

SYSLINUX 3.20 released
Hi all,
I have officially released SYSLINUX 3.20:
Changes in 3.20:
* EXTLINUX: New options --install (-i) and --update (-U), to
make it clear if a boot loader should be installed or
updated. For now, defaults to --install for compatibility;
a future version will require one of these options.
* New library functions to load and place files in

SYSLINUX 3.31 released
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.31. It is functionally identical to
SYSLINUX 3.31-pre4.
Changes in 3.31:
* The simple menu system (menu.c32 and vesamenu.c32) now
support loading more than one configuration file at a time,
using MENU INCLUDE or by specifying multiple filenames.
* The MENU COLOR statement can now control the shadowing mode.

hanging pxelinux.0 and menu.c32 on Dell 1850
Hello all.
I've got this weird problem. If I try to boot a simple menu using
syslinux's (v 3.09) pxelinux.0 and menu.c32 -files my Dell 1850 loses
the keyboard / hangs straight after loading menu.c32. The machine has to
be powered off completely.
I did some research and got it working by using menu.c32 v3.09 and
pxelinux.0 v3.07 -combo.
It seems that from version 3.08 on something has

Opinion wanted on F-key help in the simple menu system
Hi all,
3.40 is getting close to feature complete, with the one thing I really
want to add is support for F-key help in the simple menu system.
However, I'm not 100% sure how I want to do it. This may seem trivial,
but it actually matters.
One option is to have the F-key help clear the screen and display text,
similar to the way it would work at the plain boot prompt.
Another option is

SYSLINUX 3.70 released
Hello everyone,
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.70, which is the first version which
includes gPXE for support of non-TFTP network scripts, as well as a
large number of other enhancments. gPXE support is still somewhat
experimental - in particular it still doesn't support chaining other NBPs.
Very special thanks to:

ONTIMEOUT LOCALBOOT -1 and menu.c32 -- Solution: "ONTIMEOUT .localboot -1" works!
Hi,
I just found this post:
http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2005-September/005814.html
ONTIMEOUT was broken in menu.c32, and you fixed it. But the fix broke support for LABEL references in ONTIMEOUT.
I changed my "ONTIMEOUT local" to "ONTIMEOUT .localboot -1" and it works!
Anoying is that I tried ONTIMEOUT LOCALBOOT -1 before. This failed, but after having a look at the

Switching throught menus - Crash
Hi!
I use CCBasic, from Conrad, and if I klick at the Menu-Bar, and move the
Mouse to the next menu, the app crashes. That is happening on my Debian
Unstable with Wine 10-20-2001 and 11-08-2001...
Any idea?
And: Anyone knows if there a Linux Version of Conrad C-Control BASIC
Software?
Thanx, Martin!
