Booting UDF?
Greetings,
I wonder whether there are any plans to build udflinux or the likes.
I've searched through the mailing list, finding out that should I create
a mixed ISO9660/UDF filesystem.
Unfortunately, that is not an option if I want to use a significant
feature of UDF filesystem, which is writing. Making a mixed ISO9660/UDF,
using mkisofs -udf, will (to my best knowledge) not allow me to

isolinux and serial console
Hi,
I'm trying to get isolinux work with serial console; however, I fail.
My means of testing is qemu -serial stdio -cdrom the.iso; when I use bootoption
'console=ttyS0', the linux kernel has no problems writing to serial and the
serial output does appear in the terminal I've run qemu from, so I believe qemu
is working alright in this regard.
I've also had it working with

CentOS-5 Need Help With Serial Ports
I have been struggling with setting up two serial ports on an HP/Compaq
D512S (Intel P4) under CentOS-5. I am not at all sure why these things
were not auto-configured when I initially installed the CentOS system from
CDs but they were not.
I have found various resources on the web and from them uncovered the
setserial utility. What I need from somebody is guidance on how to use
this utility to

Error on DomU with xencons=ttyS
Hi all,
I have a question on /etc/inittab for DomU booted with xencons parameter.
I saw the following error messages when I appended xencons=ttyS to DomU
boot option.

COPILOT Glucose Meter COM problem
I am a 62 year old beginner in Ubuntu. Thanks for any help, guidance, suggestions on this problem!
I have used commands like the following to be certain that I have an active com port:
dmesg | grep ttyS
rm com1
ln -s /dev/ttyS0 com1
So I suspect the solution lies somewhere in WINE.
If all else fails I will get a USB to SERIAL converter cable and try that.

Serial terminal issues
I can't seem to get my serial terminal to work with my new system.
I had a serial terminal connected to my old system that worked great and copied /boot.config, /boot/loader.conf and /etc/ttys settings over from it.
The new system has a Gigabyte GA970A-UD3 board with just a serial header on the board. I bought a serial connector backplate in an electronics store and connected it to the

Reading from serial port
Hello,
I've got RFID card reader plugged in serial port.
cat /dev/ttyS0 ...gives me ID of the card I'm using => that's OK
As soon as I open the port with win32 appication via wine... I get no data from reader. Even cat /dev/ttyS0 does not work anymore afterwards.
I thinks it's because as soon as application opens it via wine some tty flags change:

Centos 7 | Rebind ctrl + alt + f# keystroke to application
Hello,
I am new to Centos and this mailing list.
I have an application (IntelliJ IDEA) which uses the ctrl+alt+f# key
combinations to provide shortcuts. The keystrokes are bind to the ttys
virtual consoles. Is there anyway to rebind the keystrokes to the
application?
I tried the following solution (xorg.conf edit) but my PC freezes during
boot process. I had to rollback the xorg.conf changes

Serial port problem and strange solution (Fujitsu MCU development under wine)
Hi to everyone, this is my first post to the list.
I'm developing an application for a Fujitsu MCU (90364 series) using
Fujitsu Softune6 Workbench in linux under wine.
Everithing works well exept for the firmware serial uploader.
It starts and sends some commands to the MCU but hangs with a timeout
error (obviously I've correctly simlinked and chmodded the appropriate
ttyS*).

FreeBSD 4.x
On FreeBSD 4.x with HAVE_LOGIN_CAP defined the OpenSSH daemon doesn't properly follow standards.
As stated in man 5 login.conf and the process followed by /usr/bin/login,
"The ttys.allow and ttys.deny entries contain a comma-separated list of
tty devices (without the /dev/ prefix) that a user in a class may use to
access the system, and/or a list of ttygroups (See getttyent(3)

RE: [PATCH] - make qemu serial summagraphics settings a bitmore fluid
Ben-
I like the idea but I don''t understand how this patch can work:
1) You never put a name into `serial_devices[]'' for the summa port.
The loop in `main'' that initializes the serial devices only calls
`qemu_chr_open'' if there''s a string name in `serial_devices''. How did
you get this to work?
2) Minor point, I don''t see the need

[PATCH] Paravirt framebuffer use xvc as console [4/5]
This is the patch from Amos Waterland for the xenconsole to
use /dev/xvc0 instead of taking over ttys. I''ve fixed a few places
which needed to check for XVC mode in addition to serial mode. Also,
until LANANA responds with an official minor, I''ve adjusted it to use
char 250/187 (in the experimental range) as opposed to 204/187.
(Should be identical to this patch from last

Hi people.
I'm trying to config a:
MGE ELISE PREMIUM 1200
NT 02 Serial Nr. 92HE04008
With its serial cable into /dev/ttyS0.
I had configured ups.conf, with no luck.
Here is my ups.conf:

port = /dev/ttyS0
desc = "UPS"
The permissions into /dev/ttyS?:

Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH
Hello xen-users !
I am coming for help concerning the just released 4.0 version. Install has
worked rather well on my Debian Lenny. I have just had a few bugs for which
I have found the answer looking around on this list.
I have created a Debian Lenny domU which boots up just fine. The only
problem is that I am unable to get a console prompt when using "xm console
nameofdomU". I do see

working config for xen which would transfer a serial interface
Hello
Can anyone share a known working config for xen which would
transfer a serial interface ( add-on card preferably, mine uses
e880-e887 : 0000:03:05.0 / ec00-ec07 : 0000:03:05.0 ) to a DomU ?
I've been trying with the stock packages from Centos 5.5 ( fully
updated) and also with gitco's 3.4.3 but after 2 days of googling and
testing we still fail to access the serial

domU consoles
Hi
I have a couple of questions:
1. How do I exist from a domU console back to dom0 console (after
issuing xm console [domU])?
2. How do I setup a dom0/domU in order to get a tty login?
TIA

[PATCH] xen/hvc: Fix polling mode to work with kdb/kgdb
Fix the polling section of the hvc driver to use the global "last_hvc"
variable, rather than the ttys.
With this change debugging a xen dom0 kernel is possible via the
following kernel parameter:
kgdboc=hvc0

ctrl-c doesn''t work in domU consoles
Hey,
I''ve installed Xen 3.0 on a freshly installed Debian Sarge. dom0 is
working nicely (kernel 2.6.12.6-xen0). Then I created a domU, again with
Debian Sarge, booting Xen''s vmlinuz-2.6.12-xenU. Unfortunately ctrl-c
does not work in the domU''s console, neither if I create the domU
with "xm create -c ..." nor if I attach to it later. It doesn''t matter

Single user mode behaviour with serial console in 7.0RC2
Hi,
I have built a FreeBSD 7.0RC2 system to use both the serial and video
consoles.
I find that when I drop into single user mode (shutdown now) on the terminal
connected to the box itself I do not see the single user mode prompt on the
serial console terminal.
Likewise, when I drop to single user mode on the serial console I do not see
the single user prompt on the terminal connected to
