PXE booting BartPE ISO file to Eee Pc
So I've been playing with this for hours and still unable to get everything
working properly. In short I'm trying to boot an ISO image created by BartPE
over pxelinux. When I attempt to do this it goes directly to a blank screen
that just has a blinking cursor. Here's what my setup looks like:
pebuilder.iso - the ISO file created from BartPE using WinXP SP2 CD as
source but with

Incompatibility using pxelinux 3.80 or later and setupldr.exe from windows XP 32 bits
Hello
I'm working on my RIS server; I got a problem when I use pxelinux.0 to
load setupldr.exe from windows XP 32bits (both home and corporate)
Here is how I configure a working server, then how to modify it to
reproduce the bug:
=========================
I suppose you got
-a dhcp server configured to load pxelinux.0 to client computer.
-a working tftp server (mine is tftpd-hpa, with a rule

pxelinux and startrom.com
Hello all,
I'm having difficulty getting pxelinux to chain
load Microsoft's startrom.com. startrom.com starts
up, but upon pressing F12 i get an immediate "TFTP
Download failed". Any thoughts?
Thanx
Barry

pxelinux and startrom.com
Greetings Luis,
I saw a thread about Startrom.com and startrom.o that had your name
attached...
I was wondering if you had a moment to comment on an issue that I have.
I have a Linux server that is our corporate PXE server. It is set up in
a logical folder structure so that a host can be pointed to boot a
variety of different OS's (DOS, Linux loaders, Windows PE). Here is in
my dilemma,

Incompatibility using pxelinux 3.81 or later and setupldr.exe from windows XP 32 bits
I did 2 zip files containing each:
- a working tftp-root with syslinux 3.75
- a not working tftp-root wit syslinux 3.81
They have ben build and tested using the instructions given in my first
message.
The bug appears starting syslinux 3.81, NOT 3.80 (I tried too many versions)
The zip files are available here:

Different tftp directories
We use pxelinux and tfp-ha for windows installation together with winpe 2005 under linux.
It works and we are happy.
But we have one problem because we want to add one more image for xp pro x64 too.
Since there is already a ntdetect.com, NTLDR and winnt.sif in the /tftpboot root directory we can't
add the 64 bit ones.
It's no problem to use different startrom.0 files since I can specify

alternate tftp server
i just discovered the alternate ftp server syntax for pxelinux in the
changelog today. this interests me as I would like to use pxelinux on
a linux box to give a config file which tells pxelinux to fetch the
windows 2003 bootloader program (actually startrom.n12 from windows
2003) from the windows box.
IE:
label windows
kernel 192.168.1.2::startrom.0

How to load *.nbi directly with pxelinux / syslinux
Hi all,
I need a hint how to load *nbi images directly with gpxe /pxelinux etc.
I have some networkboot images available only as *.nbi, loaded by a
startrom.0 with "kernel startrom.0" and then a *.lst for the menue of
the nbi images.
The *nbi images and the startrom.0 is closed source and I have found no
solution to unpack and patch them.
I need to boot the images directly without the

PXELINUX directory problem
I'm trying to boot multiple ISO files with pxelinux. Booting a single
ISO file works, but if I put them in different sub directories it no
longer works.
I'm using the windows2003 sp1 trick to load my iso's (bartpe, winpe,
erd commander, etc)
pxelinux.0 gives me a menu:
PROMPT 1
DEFAULT hdd
TIMEOUT 100
DISPLAY PXE.MSG
LABEL hdd
LOCALBOOT 0
LABEL bartpe

PxeLinux menu.c32 chaining
Hello,
many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

Dmesg log for 2.6.31-rc8 kernel been built on F12 (rawhide) vs log for same kernel been built on F11 and installed on F12
Previous 2.6.31-rc8 kernel was built on F11 and installed with modules on F12.
Current kernel has been built on F12 (2.6.31-0.204.rc9.fc12.x86_64) and installed
on F12 before loading under Xen 3.4.1.
Dmesg log looks similar to Michael Yuong''s ''rc7.git4'' kernel for F12.

PXE Linux boot to F12 automatically
HI There,
Firstly a bit about me.
I am a bit of an old school PXE user from the Kingdom of Gates. I have also spent years in the Linux playground.
While I have never been a programmer I am fairly competent in scripting languages, both on windows and Linux.
My occupation is "System Builder" I build operating System images and discs (not the OS itself). So I actually customize OS's.

Large files timeout
I am trying to download a 200MB ISO file and each time I attempt to do
so it will timeout after around 30 MB. I've used both a Microsoft and a
FreeBSD tftp client with the same results. When PXE booting a pc and
letting it download the ISO it either hangs halfway through or the ISO
appears to be corrupted when trying to boot to it from ramdisk. I am
looking for suggestions on how to

Which version shall i choose ?
Hi all,
I need some suggestions or hints which syslinux version I shall use.
The main focus will be on PXE boot.
I have to upgrade due to (expected) performance problems (tftp), so I
will swich to HTTP boot !
existing system:
- syslinux version 4.05 (tftp only)
- used modules : pxelinux.0, memdisk, vesamenuc32, patched startrom.0
- I boot .nbi , .iso, .ima and sometimes files (clonezilla etc.)

Tomboy on F12 to Gnote on Centos
I'm trying to convert my Tomboy notes from an old F12 system to Gnote
on this CentOS 6 system.
What I have found buy googling so far:
- Tomboy notes used to be stored in $HOME/.tomboy
- Some Tomboy upgrade moved them to $HOME/.local/share/.tomboy
- Gnote stores its notes in $HOME/.local/share/gnote
- Gnote has a Tomboy note converter add-in
My Tomboy notes are in /home/steve/.tomboy so I had

Ctl+Alt+F12
I am migrating from Mandriva to Centos (currently running dual boot). One
thing I miss on Centos is being able to switch to Console 12 and see system
messages in real time. My IPCop firewall has this turned on as well. Is
this a setting I can change, or a program I can add, or is it not available?
