.spl files
I am not certain that this is the right place to post this, but maybe some kind soul can point me in the right direction if not. And I apologize if this is the wrong spot...The reason I posted here is that I recall running across a syslinux changlog that said "..added support for reading .spl..." files. I want to customize the suse boot up splash screens (for a CD install). I have been

bootsplash in initramfs and isolinux
Howdy, I use isolinux very successfully to boot a CD on which I have a kernel with an initramfs compiled in that holds the bootsplash as well as an external initrd with a boot script. the CD boots fine and everything works the way it should. My problem is actually when I try to boot the same kernel and initrd from the HD of a machine (easy way to boot the CD without altering the BIOS). For

bootsplash: splash=silent always boots as splash=verbose
Hi there, I am trying to migrate from using syslinux with the gfxboot patch to using vesamenu.c32 which is a much simpler solution for my needs. The only problem I am having is that when I attempt to use the "splash=silent" kernel parameter it always boots as though I had entered "splash=verbose". By which I mean that the vga mode is correct, and the verbose graphics are

Can''t boot converted SLES11SP2/OES11 domU
I have a physical SLES11SP2/OES11 system that I''ve converted to a domU. It''s boots ok as an HVM, but when I try to boot as a PV it gets stuck. I have the kernel-xen packages installed and confident the menu.lst is correct. If I look at xm console for the VM I get the output below: Any ideas? boot kernel via function key
Hello, I setup pxelinux, a bootsplash and a help screen (F1). Now i would like that F2 boots the default kernel. It is possible to assign F2 to boot a kernel? I did not found this topic in the syslinux.doc. How cann i tell pmmtolss16 to assign i to a specific color? I tried something like: pmmtolss16 #ff0000=2 < foo.pmm > bar.lss but this did not work. regards Philipp --

isolinux problem: recent kernel versions vs. old hardware
Hi, recent isolinux versions work fine with current linux kernels on current hardware. But on older hardware there isn't a bootsplash visible at all - like if there isn't a CD in the tray. :( Sadly the older isolinux versions don't work with current kernels (giving me an empty /proc/cmdline for example when using kernel 2.6.23), otherwise I'd just use an old isolinux version of

vesamenu.c32 retain image
Hello. vesamenu.c32 can currently display a PNG image along the menu. But when the kernel is started, the image is lost. LILO supports bmp-retain option, where the bitmap graphic is retained when control is passed to the loaded kernel image; i.e., the screen is not blanked to alphanumeric mode before starting the kernel. Is it possible for vesamenu.c32 (or syslinux in general) to support

Display images
Hi! First of all, sorry for my english. I have one problem. I'm creating a server to install PC's with PXE (dhcpd, tftp, nfs, etc...). And, at the syslinux moment, the image (splash.lss/logo.16/...) is not displayed, but the text into boot.msg works ok (colors and background ok). I copied files from Knoppix, Fedora and others... But it's the same: No image, but text and colors ok.

Display file problem with PXELINUX
Hi All, I am having trouble with pxelinux display file not calling the correct name to retrieve the graphic image. I guess the filename length is determained the first time ^X is used, and doesnt re-size the field name on next call. For example when cycling through F1 - F2 - F3 the f1 image displays fine, and its the longer name f2 & f3 just display the text and no image, output from

Network stops responding after some time
Hi there, I''m using the Suse Enterprise 10 RC2 along with Xen 3.0.2 on X86-64 and I''m experiencing a problem with the network. I boot into the Xen kernel and everything works just fine. I can browse the net etc. However after a while the network stops responding completely. I am not sure what causes this to happen or what triggers it. After a few hours, the network just stops

Proper way to boot memtest86
Hello list, any try the new memtest86 v3.2 with isolinux 3.11 cd and pxeboot? How is the proper way to chainload memtest86 I was tried: label memtest kernel memtest.bin but, nothing happens just a weird hang (my older versions of memtest hangs too). Anyway chainloading in a floppy image with memdisk on CD or pxeboot was fine but if I use memory to emulate a floppy I was not using this memory

Changing isolinux/splash.jpg on custom ISO
Hi all, I know I've done this in the past, but I can't seem to get it working today... I want to roll my own ISO and use custom splash.jpg. If I roll the ISO with the stock splash.jpg, it works. When I save my own 800x600 .jpg as splash.jpg though, I get a black screen. I made sure the permissions and ownership was the same. Is there a special way that the JPG has to be

ansi2sys and patch for ansieditor
I send to the list the perl script to make the inverse of sys2ansi.pl and convert any ansi file to syslinux format. I recommend jave editor to deal with ascii arts and ascii fonts www.jave.de and for painting colours over the ascii file, the ansieditor from http://www.win.ua.ac.be/~wschrep/ansied/ with the patch attached for import and export to syslinux directly and for colour paint mode to

pxelinux and DISPLAY
I've begun tinkering with syslinux v3 and have uncovered an anomoly with the DISPLAY file when called by pxelinux.0. If I have: DISPLAY boot.msg With an "^Xsplash.lss\n" in the file boot.msg (exactly: 18 73 70 6C 61 73 68 2E 6C 73 73 0A) file, it will fail to load the rle image. USB bootable (using syslinux)
Hello! I just started using Linux and I like the possibilities it offers. I'm using Suse Linux (no MS Windows installed at all). I also discovered that syslinux is capable of making a USB pendrive bootable (with graphic menus). This is very nice. Since I'm a Windows user (up until now), I have some questions: 1 - I already downloaded syslinux 3.82 How do I install it on my pen drive

translate formula into R code
Hello, I am trying to implement the following formula using for loops and vectors. I am sure you can use some fancy R code to solve this but I would like to keep it simple and stick to for and vector/array if that is possible. TP = 200; RL = 50; TPR1 = TP - RL; TPR2 = TP + RL; PPO = 0; LSS = 0.1; counter = 1; for(i in res) { # Even if(counter %% 2 == 1) { ls = abs((sum(LSS)* TP)) /

translate formula into R code
Cc'd back to the list... always use reply-all. You say res should have been LSS but LSS is a scalar so the for loop will only run once. What does a successful output look like for a sample input? How do you (we) know when success has been achieved? In fact, what is the formula you want to implement? If your code below is the definition of your "formula" then we are left with no
