truncated files on write with tftpd-hpa
I've been seeing a problem lately that I thought I'd run by this list to see if it's familiar to anyone. We've been running tftpd from tftp-hpa (at first version 0.29, but recently version 0.34) on DigitalUNIX 4.0F, serving files off of an NFS filesystem (from a very busy server). The daemon is started as: /noc/bin/tftpd -v -p -l -m /noc/etc/tftp.filename-translations \

tftpd-hpa wrong data
I believe I have encountered a problem with tftpd-hpa very similar to the problem described in the following link: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2003-May/001955.html We were running tftpd-hpa version 0.29 on RedHat 8.0 (on an older Dell desktop), and upgraded to tftpd-hpa version 0.42 when the problem was discovered; however, we are seeing the same thing after the upgrade. The TFTP

[CentOS 5] tftp-server, unable to create new files (even with "-c" option)
Hi all, I'm trying to setup a TFTP server to serve as repository for the config of all my Cisco network devices. As per the the tftpd man, I've added the "-c" option into the /etc/ xinetd.d/tftp (as follows) but I still cannot get write access (unless the file is already present). [root at chl1 ~]# cd /etc/xinetd.d [root at chl1 xinetd.d]# cat tftp # default: off #

Logging from cron
Hello, I've just spent several hours going over several Google searches trying to find a way to configure rsync to log into a file named "/var/log/rsync.log". So far, every instance where I've found someone asking about rsync logging remained unanswered (which is kind of weird in itself). As far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to setup rsync as a daemon process so

HDT & DMI updates
Thanks for pointing this out. Applied in 3b3bc3675519e1530adab27480196eb3f1a458bc Note that I've been adding some code in that branch to support the tftp WRQ from libupload when running with lpxelinux. 2015-09-02 12:18 GMT+02:00 Gene Cumm <gene.cumm at gmail.com>: > On Fri, Aug 14, 2015 at 4:41 AM, Erwan Velu via Syslinux > <syslinux at zytor.com> wrote: > > Hi

tftp times out
tftp keeps timing out when I try to transfer files. I intend to use tftp with G4U to clone a standard workstation. I am testing it between two Dell poweredge servers running CentOS 4.3. "chkconfig --list |grep tftp" shows tftp up and running on both boxes. When connected "tftp>status" shows it is talking to the other box "tptp>trace" shows "sent WRQ

Add option to TFTP client to ignore ':' in file name (re-submit)
Re-submitted for 0.44. b.t.w. I notice that the new 0.44 'R' option is not documented in the tftp man page. ----------------------------------------- I have encountered a situation where I would like to use tftp-hpa to retrieve a file that resides within an absolute path containing a ':' character. Ala, "tftp foobar -c get C:2/tftpdir/myfile". Since the tftp client

Samba/Winbind GID/IDs not the same using AD RID
Hello everyone, I recent upgraded to wheezy debian and the syntax of the smb.conf changed when i moved up versions. It took about a week but i think i am almost there. I got my systems to join the WIn2008 domain and can authenticate and login on linux now with my AD users. Now I just need to figure out how to change my SID and GID of my users and groups. On some systems they are the same and

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information
I would like to get in contact with users/consultants who are or have worked with the Cisco phones and Asterisk to trade information. Cisco has reluctantly made SIP available on their phones and most of the information on voip-info and other wiki's appears to be reverse engineered. There is a wealth of information out there which is terrific. I have a client with about 40 phones

Compiling OpenSSH with OpenSSL-fips 0.9.8o on Windows
My office is currently using WRQ Reflections as it was FIPS compliant. But this option is an expense that we'd like to get rid of if possible. Putty is not an option for us since it uses it's own OpenSSL libs and we need it FIPS enabled. I've been able to build OpenSSL 0.9.8o and enable the fipcanister.lib and create the openssl executables and libraries. I've been able to find

Add option to TFTP client to ignore ':' in file name
I have encountered a situation where I would like to use tftp-hpa to retrieve a file that resides within an absolute path containing a ':' character. Ala, "tftp foobar -c get C:2/tftpdir/myfile". Since the tftp client automatically converts the host:file syntax, I get an error "tftp: C: Unknown host". I made a chage to the tftp client code to add a literal mode (-l),

Making remote access to qemu://session easier?
This is frustrating: $ export LIBVIRT_DEFAULT_URI=qemu+ssh://remotehost/session $ virsh list error: failed to connect to the hypervisor error: no valid connection error: Operation not supported: Connecting to session instance without socket path is not supported by the ssh connection driver Has there been any thought given to making this easier? Runtime linking in Wine
Hi all, Does Wine support application configuration files (.confg)? Or is there a better solution for my problem? I'm attempting to deploy a third-party application in a Linux server environment. Without X, winetricks and vcredist.exe won't execute successfully, even with the quiet option (/q). So I'm attempting to deploy with msvcr80.dll and Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest in the
