Pxelinux/memdisk with Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy
Just for the record, I want to let the list know that I succeeded in
booting a modified Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy from
http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/
I started with a Win98 Bootfloppy from http://www.tobs.uku.co.uk.
Then I made a disk image from this, using dd.exe from cygwin.
Then I converted this disk image from 1.44MB to 2.88MB with winimage.

Hello
I have create a bootdisk with isolinux. These cd load an initial ramdisk
(75MB) as rootfs, start the init process and some service (e.g. network,
inetd) and gives me a valid loginshell for working (recover the system
from a backup).
Now i found, that some of my machines cannot boot from cdrom (the
controller doesn't support this).
Q: Is it possible to create a floppy bootdisk, that

ghost network bootdisk connecting to samba server
Hello,
This situation is not strictly samba, but it is related. If people think
it's off topic please respond privately. I've got a redhat9 samba server
running samba 2.2.7 on to which i'd like to store some ghost images that
i ghost from network machines. I'm using ghost 7.5 and i'm having
problems getting the disks to connect to the server. The two cards are:

booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo,
I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work
completely.
Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works
too.
But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with
the file "extract.com", and that step fails.
Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem?
Viele Gruesse!

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
Hi,
I've got the same Problem. Not with WinMe but Win 98SE. But what I figured
out is,
that it doesn't realy apply to the Command.com rather to the Way the
BootImage was created.
It took me a long time to get my Hands on a Image with 2.8MB that's working.
Since creating one
my self, was allways failling. I downloaded the Bootutils 4.3 from 3com and
used the Imageedit tools.
With these

syslinux PXE boot version upgrade, network no longer working
My ?default? was just a sample to prevent further tl;dr :)
Right, by 2014 I meant 6.03. I didn?t notice in the docs this was a known issue. If keeppxe is a bug with 6.03, that?s likely my issue. Do I drop back to 6.02 or X? Which version?
Thanks,
David

Painfully slow writes in MS-DOS
Hey folks,
I was having a problem at work with Samba 2.2.3a (SuSE 8.0) as well as a Redhat machine I know nothing about and an HP Workstation station I know nothing about.
Each had painfully slow writes from dos clients (for using Norton Ghost). I tried many machines, many nics, and even played with different hubs. All caused problems. I even tried VM-Ware to VM-Ware.
I have Samba 2.2.4 at

Does CentOS has problems with Norton Ghost 2003 images?
Hello all
We have two very important workstations dedicated to tasks of
development and investigation. At the moment we have installed a dual
boot platform with CentOS 4.0 and Windows XP Proffessional SP2. In
order to do backups of these machines we need to create an image with
Norton Ghost 2003.
We have worked with Ghost during several years with different
platforms (Red Hat, White Box Linux,

You could try a batch file with
NETDOM /Domain:MYDOMAIN /user:adminuser /password:apassword MEMBER
MYCOMPUTER /JOINDOMAIN
Then
NETDOM /Domain:MYDOMAIN MEMBER MYCOMPUTER /JOINDOMAIN
search microsoft.com for comand line join domain for more info.

Re: WinME command.com
Hi..
Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into
any bootable image and its really giving me problems....
I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and
the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me
command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME..
Also try using umbpci.sys and lowdma.sys for managing

Samba pdc, Norton Ghost enterprise edition and joining the domain?
Hi List.
We have a Samba 3.0pre21 PDC set up here on our prim. fileserver. We use
Windows 2000 SP2 on our PC clients. We install clients with system images
from disk and than install applications from one central machine running
Norton Ghost EE.
Ghost has the functionality not only to install the software from the
"console" on the ghost server, but it is also able to make the

I would suggest trying Debian's "experimental" binaries (which include
potentially-relevant patches for keeppxe), including all its "bios" lib*.c32
files (beware not to mix with the efi

Thanks Ady. I have to stick with stable vs. experimental but I
appreciate the Debian suggestion.
I don't mean to troll anyone, but... how is 6.03 considered stable if
it does not correctly support keeppxe? I have to go all the way back
to 4.xx for this to be supported? Wow. I still couldn't find it in
the docs online where it states keeppxe doesn't work. I have some
