Fwd: Different behavior of net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range between RHEL-5 and RHEL-6
Forwarding just in case anyone is familiar with this on CentOS, thanks!
--
Hello,
Just found that net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range has different behavior
between RHEL releases: until v6 although you have multiple source IPs
you can only use a fixed number of local ports, seems that
"ip_local_port_range" is a global configuration or limitation. On RHEL-6
kernel (testing with 2.6.32-279)

tftp-hpa to boot aix
i am using tftp-hpa 0.32 to transfer boot image files of an aix 5.2
system. packets begin to go across the network and then they stop at
about 4200 packets. when i boot from aix bootp server 15227 packets are
transfered.
i have tried with both xinetd and standalone modes with many different
options. i am not sure why it is failing to transfer the entire image.
are there certain options with

Proposals for UDP information transport over the metagraph
While working on SPTPS UDP relaying I realized that there is one issue
I didn't account for, which is that the sending node only knows the
PMTU to the first relay node. It doesn't know the PMTU of the entire
relay path beyond the first hop, because the relay nodes don't provide
their own PMTU information over the metaprotocol.
Now, in the legacy protocol this is not really an issue,

Indirect routing issue?
Hi there,
I am experiencing an annoying but not critical issue with (I think)
tinc's internal routing. My setup is this:
HostA (local. ConnectTo = HostC)
HostB (geographically close. ConnectTo = HostC)
HostC (far away. ConnectTo = nothing)
Without tinc, pings from HostA to HostB take around 10ms, and from
HostA/B to HostC around 200ms.
With tinc, pings from HostA to HostB take nearly

PMTU = 1518 over local network at 1500 MTU
Hi all,
I have two nodes, connected to a switch, using Tinc 1.1 from git.
They connect each other with sptps, and to other nodes in the Internet
with old protocol because they have Tinc 1.0.
There is no problem with remote nodes, but between my 2 local nodes,
they see 1518 PMTU. But local network is 1500 MTU !!! So nodes can ping
each other but larger data does not go.

PMTU Discovery Question
Hi Guus,
while checking the source code, I stumbled upon PMTU Discovery.
I've got a question regarding the process of sending/receiving PMTU packets.
As I understand, the packet flow is like this:
1 .Tinc creates a packet with a specific payload length to send it as an
PMTU probe.
(The data part is just some random bytes.)
2. This packet gets compressed and sent

I have no experience with Ubuntu, but I find it hard to believe it would

connectivity issues
Hi Guus and List,
Since the CVE-2013-1428 was announced, I followed the recommendation to
update my windows machines to tinc1.1pre7.
I've had connectivity issues since upgrading. I've done some debugging
but I can't figure out when or why its happening.
All machines on the network are running Windows 7 or Windows 2008R2
Enterprise server and tinc 1.1pre7.
I've got one master

tftp with pxelinux.0 from syslinux 4.10-pre17
Hello everybody,
setting up a netboot server for a really huge network I decided to go with
what will be syslinux 4.10 to get support for http transfers.
The setup works on my notebook, booting another notebook directly connected.
However it fails with a more complex setup: A virtual machine on the
second notebook bridged to the ethernet device does not boot, systems from
other networks with a

Error during decryption of meta key
Hi,
I've got a relatively simple tinc setup.
I've got two "servers" that are on the public internet that act as
routers for three "clients" that are behind NATs.
Those servers are called aaaaa and bbbbb the clients are xxxxx, yyyyy and zzzzz
Unfortunatly the servers have problems accepting a connection from the clients

Intel 82557-based Integrated Ethernet PCI (10/100)
HI zytor,
I hope you can help me. I have above network chipset on a Mitsubishi
im-2000 mobo. I don't see an actual chip on the mobo w/ this ID so I
suspect it embedded in the mobo BIOS or in one of the 3 Intel chips. I
am attempting to use LTSP to boot a workstation w/ above NIC chipset. It
has imbedded boot to net software (Intel Landesk service agt v.99b) using
PXE. I can't get it

Does not auto boot after time out
I am having difficulty trying to figure out how to get a computer to
boot from it's local disk automatically after the pxe menu times out.
I installed syslinux-3.11-4 with yum onto CentOS 5.5
It boots to the local disk if I select Local from the menu and press
enter but it never times out and boots localy.
The AUTOBOOT message doesn't appear either.
