dovecot and imap session forwarding
Hi, I was trying to install a qmail-ldap cluster. I have successfully setup dovecot to authenticate against ldap directory. But what I need is to enable imap session forwarding for qmail-ldap. For example when a user connects to a imapserver if the real mailhost of this user is different than the one that is connected so session is forwarded to real mailhost. Normally we can do that with

Footprint - kickstart management tool
Hi, I'm planning to create a new tool to simplify creation and management of kickstart-files (as well as automate some of the tasks that come with automated installation). If you know of another mailinglist that fits this subject, or you know of similar projects (because I can imagine there are countless implementations inside companies) please let me know. I'm just in the design

Network installation from CD
Hi, In a corporate environment we are not allowed to use DHCP/PXE for doing network installations. This means we have to look for other solutions. Our solution is to use an ISO image (mounted via a KVM solution) to kick off the network installation. A big problem currently is that the order of the network interfaces is arbitrary (depends on the order of the drivers loaded) and is not

Disable clear screen
Hi, Is it possible to disable the clear screen when loading syslinux ? Since the IBM BIOS on xSeries systems shows the MAC address of the onboard NICs, I would like to have them on screen when people do a kickstart fro mthe prompt using eg: ksdevice=<MAC address> I personally think that the clear screen is unwanted in most cases since people can add that to the boot message (ctrl-L) if

Added Download page to wiki
Hi, I have added a Download page to the wiki. Feel free to improve it (but please do not make it more complex than it already is :-)) I would prefer to make it even more simple, but hate to have the architecture-selection done by DirectoryIndex. Also the link behind each architecture looks awful and may scare people away. It would be much better to have a single link that automatically

Re: Scheduler Parameters
Hi All, I have emailed the message below to Arnaud, but it got failed. I will need to have get set scheduling parameters (including timeslice, ratelimit, weight, cap for Xen) thru C# libvirt bindings. is there any plan to have those wrappers soon? CentOS 3.9
Hi, Red Hat started releasing security advisories and update packages that are part of RHEL3 U9. Still, on RHN there are no RHEL3 U9 ISO images released yet. As usual, CentOS will make available CentOS 3.9 when it is deemed ready. So there is no need to ask when it is going to be released :) Kind regards, -- dag wieers, dag at wieers.com, http://dag.wieers.com/ -- [all I want is a warm

Returned mail: see transcript for details (fwd)
Every post I do to this mailinglist is followed by a bounce message from "centos.5.warren at recursor.net". I have no clue why this is being send to me, afaics some IP address is being blacklisted but I am not related to it. Am I the only one who gets this and can we remove this person from the mailinglist ? Kind regards, -- dag wieers, dag at wieers.com, http://dag.wieers.com/

Getting asciidoc
I need to install asciidoc on my build machine. There is a version for CentOS-5 available at dags rpm site. I have a repository configured for dag like so: [dag] name=Dag Wieers RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise Linux #Also see URL http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/ baseurl=http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el$releasever/en/$basearch/dag gpgkey=http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/RPM-GPG-KEY.dag.txt

CentOS mailing list probe message (fwd)
With the latest message I send to the CentOS list I got this strange 'probe' message. The included bounce example has nothing to do with my email-adres, but rather with someone subscribed to the list. So it seems that somehow the mailinglist manager is sending bounces to the wrong email-adres. Or I do not understand the 'probe' message (and the included bounce message) at all.

rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at main.c(451)
Wayne, others, Using the same version on server and client, I still got this error. This was still based on last night's CVS (HEAD-20050314-1745GMT) and I am certain both side's versions are identical. :) ... source/sudosh-1.4.7-1.rf.src.rpm 98373 100% 536.69kB/s 0:00:00 (798, 99.9% of 244497) Invalid packet at end of run [sender] rsync error: protocol incompatibility

CentOS Events on wiki menu
Hi, Is it possible to rename the CentOS Events tab to simply Events ? The other tabs do not include CentOS either. For a published article today I required a desktop screenshot. However on 1024x768 with a non-fullscreen browser at wiki.centos.org, the number of tabs required me to make the browser-width larger than I liked it to be. Renaming "CentOS Events" to "Events"

Connecting CentOS to IPSEC VPN (Checkpoint FW1)
Hi, Does anyone have experience using IPSEC on CentOS in order to connect to vendor IPSEC-based VPN products (specifically Checkpoint FW1) ? Is the included IPSEC implementation sufficient, or do people have to rely on OpenSWAN or FreeSWAN ? I'd be testing tomorrow and I'm interested with experiences others have had and things to look out for. Thanks in advance, -- dag wieers, dag

RHEL havoc tool
Hi, I'm looking for a tool that breaks a working system (in one or more ways) with the sole purpose to fix it again. The aim would be to use this tool for several debugging techniques sessions in our local LUG. When I was invited to speak at a local LUG I was wondering what was the best way to demonstrate some of the tools (and more importantly) the way to tackle a problem. And nothing

Reorganising general CentOS FAQ
Hi guys, I would like to reorganise the general CentOS FAQ. It now has 20 questions about a lot of different things that can be structure much better. I would like to add some questions, but lacking any structure... I would like to make a distinction between the following subjects: - General questions about the CentOS project Answers about what the project is about, why the project

Mailinglist moderation
Hi, I think the time (150 messages and counting) has come to ask someone of the CentOS team to start moderating this list. I don't mind people discussing whatever topic they like, but not at the expense of the mailinglist and its members. I don't think the topic really doesn't matter in these discussions, and if done in private they would stand for long anyway. I would propose

Dovecot using authsasld
Hi, Trying to simplify the postfix/dovecot/saslauthd setup with less than 10 users, I was looking for some way to NOT duplicate the username/password setup. Currently I need to use a seperate file for dovecot as I do for saslauthd. (One is a simple shadow-alike file, the other the sasldb) I know that postfix 2.3 can use dovecot directly for sasl authentication, and that would be a neat

NTP and hardware clock
Hi, I had the following problem today. Because of a misconfigured network switch one system suddenly didn't have any network. After a reboot (with the network still unavailable) NTPD refused to start. Most likely because the initial ntpdate failed to work. I find this troubling, because when the network was restored, NTPD could have resumed working (like I'd expect from a true

Last character of the boot prompt gone missing ?
Hi, I think I found a problem with syslinux where if you have an entry in the syslinux config file (eg. linux) and you type some additional parameters on the boot-prompt (eg. noacpi) the last character of the prompt is cut off (and missing from /proc/cmdline). This does not seem to happen for the append line in the config file, only for additional parameters on the boot prompt. (I guess it
