Question about .bs and .bss style bootsectors.
Hello Recently I've been happily experimenting with syslinux, replacing grub and my old bootmanager. All works beautifully, but I have one question - in case of .bss bootsectors - what exactly and under what circumstances is patched in ? With syslinux used as main bootmanager - bootsectors from xp64, xp32 and [pre-syslinux] msdos 7.1 (98se) work perfectly fine when chainloaded natively as

mounting an nfs4 file system as v4.0 in CentOS 7.4?
CentOS 7.4 client mounting a CentOS 7.4 server filesystem over nfs4. nfs seems to be much slower since the upgrade to 7.4, so I thought it might be nice to mount the directory as v4.0 rather than the new default of v4.1 to see if it makes a difference. The release notes state, without an example: "You can retain the original behavior by specifying 0 as the minor version" nfs(5)

syslinux bootsector info?
Mr Anvin, is there a specific loading address used with the Syslinux bootsector (to load ldlinux.sys)? like msdos 0x70, freedos 0x60 we're trying to have a SYS program that can create bootsector for other OS's than FreeDOS only. not much luck though :( this way I'm trying to avoid the use of syslinux.exe/com (need the diskspace that it would save by not including this program) I

samba3.0.10
Hi Jerry/Samba Team I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10 installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server. My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers are using Samba to mount from. Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8 server they are

Syslinux Bootsector
Hi! Facing a strange problem about not being able to access the floppy drive after booting from a rescue-floppy with 2.2.x kernel on an asus p4te mainboard, i searched the net and found a bug in the bootsector of the 2.2.x kernels. Before control is redirected to the kernel, the floppy drive is shut down in a way, that freezes the FD-Controller on recent mainboards (like the ASUS P4T-E). The

Stuck with FFT
Dear all, Before I can get into serious Fourier analysis of Radon time-series I am practising with 24hour and 24.8hour sinusoids to assist with my interpretation of signals ittributed to tidal input to Radon time series. I am stuck. I have tried researching this to no avail. I am awating a book that should describe fourier transforms in detail and another one that should discuss the R

syslinux write intended bootsector to bootsectorfile support?
HPA, is it possible to add a parameter/argument to syslinux.com/syslinux.exe to specify a file? currently it's something like SYSLINUX A: I'd like the following also to be possible: SYSLINUX A: A:\SYSLINUX.BIN It still copies LDLINUX.BIN to A:, but writes the generated bootsector intended for drive A: to a 512byte user-specified file Perhaps to allow both at the same time even SYSLINUX

SYSLINUX 3.11-pre3 -- release candidate
This is a minor tweak on 3.11-pre2. If nothing new comes up, I will release this as 3.11 probably early next week. -hpa

syslinux -> Windows 2008R2
Hello, I'm trying to use a current Syslinux setup, that is working well for service linux based distros, to serve up recent Windows server installs. As I'm new here I'm reluctant to make any changes to the environment unless I've exhausted the current options. We are running Syslinux 3.71 on a Gentoo server and all the DHCP and tftpd are "working as they should". What

Syslinux + USB + PE 2.0
I am having the darnedest of times trying to get my WinPE to work off the syslinux loader. I used to use isolinux, and my isolinux config would just invoke the etfsboot.com file which i had renamed to loader.bin, and everything would work just fine off a cd. But now I'm trying to transfer all of my cd functionality to thumbdrives. With Syslinux, i have my syslinux.cfg file calling loader.bin

As a test I encoded some frames (wideband, with quality set to 8),

PXE -> tftp -> WinPE vs NForce 4
Hi The setup, as in the subject, is supposed to boot a Winpe to install xp to a clean PC. I use the Ramdisk method (ie PXELinux pases the setup on to the M$ pxe loader and and boots WinPE) It works perfectly with evry other chipset, but Nvidias NForce 4. (tested 15 different) With NF4 it loads up well but the M$ PnP routine detects the Network management bus wrong (nvidia specific approach to

mdiskchk and WinPE
Greetings, all... Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've set up a Linux PXE host with a menu choice to install Windows. This option boots a WinPE image, which then uses \\net use... to mount the appropriate ISO image. Works fine. However, I would like to pass the iso name and directory into WinPE from the menu via append= arguments. Thus, I can set up a separate menu option

Most efficient way of pxe booting windows pe
Hi guys, We are using syslinux (memdisk) and gpxe already for a while. Also got a working winpe boot method by means of pxe. Which basicly is a dd of an 'recovery partition' where winpe.wim is on. That method isn't really the most efficient way, cause its loaded into memory twice. We are going to do a major windows 7 deployment soon and i'm looking for the most efficient way of

Oh I overlooked that one.. Thanks Darren! Btw, I was wondering if anyone has tried using the echo canceller function of speex with other codec like g.711?
