AW: Unable to open configuration file "/etc/smb.conf" (or whereve r i specify)
Hi, it looks like you have something really messed up on your system. The size of the file is 1243 bytes (from strace) but 0 bytes are being read. If you had no permission to read the strace would have looked like this: open("/etc/samba/smb.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) A quick look at the source code reveals: /etc/samba/smb.conf is opened in file_load

Samba server in a failover environment
Hello, Samba Gurus ..... I have a Samba server running on a pair of SUN servers (server-a and server-b). The samba shares are NFS mounted from a third SUN server (server-c). I installed Samba 2.2.7a on the paired SUN servers under /usr/local/samba (Samba 2.2.7a is locally installed on server-a and server-b, since /usr/local/samba is local on the rootdisk.) The failover environment works like

PXE Linux (Simple Menu) freeze after pressing 23 times return
Yes it sounds silly, but its true. I made a menu with some submenu with the simple menu system. After pressing 23 times return to get into the submenu or back to the mainmenu it freeze. I think this is a bug of syslinux. I tried it on 3 different PC/Servers always the same effect. Here is my default and one of my submenu files: default: #Projekt PXE-Boot von Franz Lang www.franz-lang.com

Samba 3.0 won't join Samba-TNG domain
Hi, I posted this problem before in more detail (http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=104756899022766&w=2) but received no response. At the current state of Smaba 3.0 and Samba-TNG these two seem to be incomaptible. Samba 3.0 can't join a TNG controlled domain. I think this should affect a lot of installations as TNG as a controller and "stable" as file/printserver seem

AW: Unable to open configuration file "/etc/smb.conf"
Try these two: bash> which testparam should tell you which testparam is being started. Is it where you expect it to be? bash> strace /full/path/testparam Gives you information on all system calls called from within testparam. It will give quite a bit of output and somewhere near the end you will find something like: open("/usr/lib/smb.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = ... This would

security = problems
Is there a way to have users of the samba server, but not add them by smbpasswd -a <UserID>? I want the samba server to be a domain member and the users to only authentic from the PDC. These are the steps that I have attempted: Users are in both the Windows domain and the UNIX NIS account 1. smbpasswd -j <Domain> -r PDC -U <admin> Joined the Domain 2. edited the

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out. The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate each of your

klibc issues on armhf (not Debian/armel)
Hi, we?re currently seeing trouble with klibc on several architectures, cf. http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/klibc/2012-May/003277.html and armhf is being one of them, when using klibc to compile mksh-static with it. I can look into it (asked zumbi for build-deps in a sid chroot on harris already), but not 100% sure I?ll find it, so more eyes on klibc would not be unwelcome ;-) maks, does klibc

Solved an solution: Pop 3 SSL login dos not work any longer
Hi! Logging in with the same use I tested already before, I now get this message in the debug log written by dovecot: pop3-login: Warning: Auth process not responding, delayed sending initial response (greeting): user=<> The SSL negotiation did complete. But then there went something wrong with the user authentification. As ist did work already before, I guess, it is not the clients
