MAX_DEBUG_LEVEL for 2.0.10a?
Hi @all, in which version MAX_DEBUG_LEVEL in local.h and debug.h is available (not in 2.2.8a and not in 2.0.10a)? I want to get smaller binaries for the router system fli4l (router on a floppy) with reducing the amount of debugging informations. I have to use on of the above versions due last security fixes. I would prefere 2.0.10a, because it is smaller as 2.2.8a and has functionality enough for

Making Syslinux boot with missing keyboard, but not disabled keyboard.
Hello together, first thanks a lot for your work. It's quite useful on some projects. I encouraged myself to ask you a question: Think I've seen Syslinux booting fli4l on Systems without keyboard, where "keyboard option" has been set to "not installed" in the Bios. There are lot of boards around, e.g. with award bios like those 486 UMC based on UMC 8881/8886, without

Syslinux fails with floppy emulation
I am trying to use syslinux on a floppy image to create a bootable CD. When I boot (on a number of computers) I only get "Boot error", using the image file on a floppy works. I realize the correct way to do this is using isolinux with no emulation but but I need to do this with syslinux :( I've looked into it and older versions of syslinux dont have this problem. From my research

memdisk and floppy images on 4801
Im trying to boot memtest86 via pxelinux, memdisk, I found this advice on http://forum.x86-secret.com/viewtopic.php?t=2906 folks are making the image match a floppy size by one of the following: dd if=memtest86+-1.xx.bin of=memtest.img bs=360k count=1 conv=sync or dd bs=360k count=1 conv=sync if=memtest86+-1.xx.bin|gzip > memtest.gz I did the former, it did suppress the warning/errors I saw

Hi @all, sorry for the repost but there was no answer and this is very important for me and the users of fli4l. > Hi, > > at first sorry for my bad english... > > I'm working on a little samba package for a routing projekt: > > www.fli4l.de > > This is a router, which runs from a single floppy. Memdisk and USB Floppy
I just wanted to chime in and mention that I'm running into the problem with getting a "Non-system disk..." error on a system using a USB floppy when the floppy is not attached when I try to boot the system over the network using memdisk to boot a floppy image. Its actually fairly important to be able to do this, as the architecture of the hardware that I'm working with utilizes

Can't boot NT floppy
Hi, Thanks a lot for your exceptional work.... I guess many people dealing with bootable CD's just could'nt do anything without isolinux... However I've got a small problem. In fact the problem is maybe due to my BIOS (Phoenix on an HP Vectra VL800), and maybe due to isolinux / memdisk, I don't know. Generally speaking, take any floppy, format it under Win2K, copy from your hard

colon in syslinux.cfg leads to "Unknown keyword"
hi, sorry for bothering the list but since I didn't find anything in the documentation or archives I would be grateful for your help. For a customized USB installer (based on redhat anaconda) I wanted to pass an kernel parameter which contains a colon. This leads twice to the error message "Unknown keyword in syslinux.cfg." Quoting the append string using ' or "

Xen Security Advisory 133 (CVE-2015-3456) - Privilege escalation via emulated floppy disk drive
xen-4.4.2-2, available from the virt6-testing repository, includes the fix for this issue. Note that Xen actually does attempt to disable the floppy disk for HVM domains by default, but due to a bug in qemu, the floppy disk only partially disabled; enough functionality to exploit this bug remains. This should be available from the normal xen4 repositories sometime this afternoon. -George

Getting GELI Keys from Floppy
Hello, i want to encrypt my HDD's with GELI (not the root-fs, though). I want to do the encryption without password, just with a key. The key should be stored in a floppy disk, and the read should be read automatically on boot, from the floppy. There is a problem here, because GELI initializes _before_ mounting the disks from /etc/fstab (for obvious reasons, of course). So GELI is not able

SYSLINUX 3.10-pre15
I just picked up 3.10-pre15 and the "PXELINUX corrupts graphic filename referenced from DISPLAY file" bug is zapped. Yipee! Thanks hpa. And Arwin too, if that 'xor esi, esi' was the crux. However, LOCALBOOT -1 and LOCALBOOT 0 don't work the same as they did for me in 3.07. :-( 3.07: LOCALBOOT -1 apears to work as I have a hard disk listed in bios boot order after the

I have some domUs, one of them is a fli4l router, the others are eisfair domUs (fileserver, webserver and mailserver). All of the domUs are connected via vif network interface with a bridge in dom0. There is a problem invoking following command in every domU: openssl s_client -connect

Kickstart from floppy falling into regular install
I took my anaconda-ks.cfg file, cp to ks.cfg and copied to a floppy The isos have been copied to an ftp server. So I had the following lines in my ks.cfg intall url ftp://10.1.1.1// (yes the ftp server's directory is the Centos directory) This is along with all the appropriate network command to get the ethernet setup. I issue the linux ks=floppy (also tried linux

Growing out of floppy images, what's the best alternative?
Hi. We've been using PXELINUX for years, to kick off OS installations (floppy images) and booting assorted tools. The addition of ISO support in memdisk opened up some new alternatives that we also use, e.g. booting WinPE ISO images over PXE. Today I downloaded a BIOS for a HP EliteBook 8440p and discovered that the BIOS file is 3 MB. I could probably squeeze it onto a 2.88 MB floppy image

FW: How do I emulate a harddrive instead of a floppy?
OK, I'm really showing my inexperience now, but... The syslinux FAQ states that a DOS-compatible HDD MBR is distributed (I assume that is MBR.BIN) with the package. So how do I then make an image file for use with pxelinux that emulates HDD? Up until now I have only been successful in modifying images made by someone else (I have been using a modified version of Unattended from SourceForge

SYSLINUX 3.20 released
Hi all, I have officially released SYSLINUX 3.20: Changes in 3.20: * EXTLINUX: New options --install (-i) and --update (-U), to make it clear if a boot loader should be installed or updated. For now, defaults to --install for compatibility; a future version will require one of these options. * New library functions to load and place files in

Floppy disk in Windows DomU
Does anyone know of a way to give DomU a floppy disk of some sort? I need to try and load some drivers at the text mode install step of installing Windows...
