Does not auto boot after time out
I am having difficulty trying to figure out how to get a computer to
boot from it's local disk automatically after the pxe menu times out.
I installed syslinux-3.11-4 with yum onto CentOS 5.5
It boots to the local disk if I select Local from the menu and press
enter but it never times out and boots localy.
The AUTOBOOT message doesn't appear either.
Which instructions in the PXELINUX

PXELinux
Greetings:
I'm hoping PXE linux can help me with my problem...
I'm trying to setup a PXE based install server under Linux that can
host Linux (SLES9, Slackware) and Windows (NT4, 2000, XP, 2K3) Install
images. I would ideally like to be able to have a PXE compliant host
boot, and prompt me to pick an image to boot. Has anyone ever done this
before?.. I have ISO images stored on the

probs running stuff from initrd
Hello all
Now I may be way of whack here, so please forgive me.
I''m trying to merge xen with redhat''s config-netboot. The idea being a
kinda stateless domU. For those that haven''t seen you share a rootfs and
then bind mount all the individual files over then top, and the redhat
gui builds all the pxeboot config and stuff for you if you want a
diskless client. I

Upstream vendor's diskless vs LTSP
Hello all,
I have a customer that insists of using upstream vendor's diskless
(system-config-netboot) rather than LTSP. The reason is that he wants to use
a 100% packages from the vendor, not from LTSP or any other party.
I try the vendor's diskless system, and although it's very simple to setup, it
lacks the support and/or documentation whereas LTSP is very good in it.

I want to use a ram disk as / after network booting.
Hi
I am an engineer who is making communication systems.
I have a board(made by Kontron ltd, Intel CPU, currently with diskless )
that is used in compactPCI.
I boot that board with network PXELINUX method and currently using NFS.
But I don't want to use NFS and I want to make and use ram disk image.
That means I want to use a ram disk as /.
Currently I made a initrd by ltsp_initrd_kit.

ltsp kernel crash
Hi,
I've been using pxe-enabled nic's with an lzpxe-etherboot image generated
by rom-o-matic.net to boot a ltsp.org kernel, with dhcp 3 to use if statements to determine which filename
option he gives to the pxe/etherboot dhcp client.Explained at
http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/pxe.howto.html
This works perfectly, except for the fact that you can't use 1 etherboot pxe image for

pxelinux fron Floppy disk?
Hi there,
we are using a couple of Diskless Linux Workstations in conjunction with PXE
capabable Network cards to boot the system. This works fine using pxelinux.
However, there are a few workstations left, which are not able to boot via
PXE and thus this workstations need a Kernel on a floppy disk and an
additional initrd image.
The Problem with is, that both of them don't fit on a floppy

PXEboot: can't find configfile on tftpd server
Hello,
I've got several machines which I'm trying to netboot, the setup is a
bootserver using dhcpd3 and tftpd-hpa.
When a machine boots up, it gets an ip address and downloads pxelinux.0 from
the server, then it starts searching for pxelinux.cfg/[MACADDRESS]
pxelinux.cfg/0A0000F0 and so on. On the server side I see in the syslog the
client's DHCP-request and the client downloading

Thin client system for X applications?
We're looking for what, years ago, I'd describe a s a X terminal --
something small, simple (and ideally cheap) that a user could display
X applications on. I guess they're now called thin clients, but they
now seem geared as seats on the web, and for this application we would
need to be able display the results of running a homebrewed X
application from a CentOS system, either

Kernel panic: I have no root and I want to scream
Hello,
I'm trying to fix netbooting and I got quit far.
Before this, it reported that it had no root disk, I fixed this by
specifying my initrd. Nou it crys's:
Kernel panic: I have no root and I want to scream
I think I made the mistake whit the creation of the initrd file. What
should I put in it except the /linuxrc.
I put a echo "TEST" in de /linuxrc to see if it runs, in

booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo,
I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work
completely.
Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works
too.
But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with
the file "extract.com", and that step fails.
Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem?

KEEPPXE/DOS
First off I love syslinux and it has worked flawless for us on the unix side of the realm.
We're trying to use our ghost images within a dos netboot using syslinux. Unfortunatly we can only pass DHCP ip's to hosts that exhibit a vendor code 'like windows/pxe/and other os's do". Unfortunatly DOS does not, so we cannot request a second IP after the pxe process to map samba

bug(?) in 2.11
Hi!
I write this config line:
kernel /boot/i386/vmlinuz ro ramdisk=32768 root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc
but when I try to boot I got this mesasge:
Could not find kernel image: /boot/i.386/
Same symptomes are with slash and backslash too. I think, the parses
don't understand the directory separator characters and count as the
part of filename.

Sorry for my english

Bootable Kernel
Hello,
Sorry to sound like a bad record, but I'm trying to figure out why I'm
getting "Bad gzip magic numbers" errors when ISOlinux is trying to
inflate the kernel. Right now I'm clueless as to what's wrong. I've tried
various kernels compiled on a few different platforms. Has anyone ever
seen this before? ANyone know where a better forum to ask this question
