booting on a dos software
Hi!
I've got a USB key with several tools (small linux, memtest86+)
booting via syslinux.
But now I have to add powermax.exe (a MSDOS tool to test Maxtor
disks) on this key.
As I've always been on Unix/Linux system, I don't know what
to do to run powermax.exe from syslinux.
I've made a boot floppy disk and tried to copy everything
on my usb key and put the command.com in kernel

I got thinking booting off a logical partition might not be allowed, so I
changed the LEAF/Bering logical partition to a primary, hda4. Then I ran
"syslinux d:" from a Win98SE DOS-box to (try to) initialize the
partition's boot record. And added this from a

Syslinux 1.75, LEAF Bering 1.2, Compaq 2266
I have been using the LEAF Bering firewall for a year or so. It boots
with Syslinux 1.75. But Bering is too large for a 1440KB floppy, so it
formats the diskette as 1680KB. Recently I found a small Compaq 2266 box
to replace a larger Compaq 7170 to run the firewall. But when I try to
boot the Bering diskette on the 2266 I get the following message:

Memdisk & seagate diagnostic tool
Hi all!
I'm using syslinux & memdisk (3.11 version) to boot
a floppy disk image of the seagate disk diagnostic
tools via an usb key.
When booting directly from the floppy disk, every thing
is all right and my seagate disk is detected.
But when booting the disk image via memdisk & syslinux
on my USB key, every thing seems all right *except* that
no disk is detected by the tools

Unable to boot my USB flash drive, even with USB-ZIP trick...
I've been using a USB flash drive for quite a while now, and in my
previous system it worked great, but, I find with my new motherboard
now that I have upgraded I can't boot it. So I decided to try the
trick mentioned in the README.usbkey file where you make a ZIP drive
like image on the flash drive and set the BIOS to boot a USB ZIP drive
instead. Unfortunately, it still doesn't

I?m afraid I am not a fluent Samba user and but desperately need
to upgrade the version we have. Do you know where I can find
Upgrading instructions for Samba or do I need to reinstall the
whole program with the latest one? I haven?t been able to find
upgrading instructions anywhere, which is why I'm bothering you
for assistance. If you have any recommendations or know

maxtor "powermax.exe" and wine?
Has anyone ever tried to run maxtor's "powermax.exe" program, that
attempts to determine if a drive is having problems prior to RMA, under
wine?
Thanks!

Samba 3.0.4 on PowerMax 5.1
I am trying to load Samba 3.0.4 on Motorola PowerMAX
5.1.
Samba is not recognizing the platform when I compile
it. It is bombing out on the config.sub script.
Can you tell me how to get this loaded and what
changes I need to make?
Thanks,
Tom

The in-kernel nfsroot code is obsoleted by kinit. Remove it; it

Species accumulation curves with differential sampling effort
Hello! I'm a PhD student working with coral reef fish diversity in Mexico.
I want to do species accumulation curves but I have differential sampling
effort for each "sample".
Do you know or have developed an R script that consider the differential
effort of each sample?
PRIMER and other programs use each pack of species as a replica without the
possibility of telling the program that

Supporting a DIY UPS with minimal effort butmaximum gain
Ha! I got several on and off list requests for details, so I'll give a
bunch of details here and then maybe I can move this to a wiki page others
can help edit.
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
Be careful! My implementation required opening up high power components,
and dealing with 120VAC mains power and high currents on 12VDC. If you
decide to tackle any of this yourself, you need to understand

gráficos de cotizaciones
Comparto totalmente la sugerencia de Carlos Ortega. Si aún así quieres
gráficos de velas o gráficos OHLC el mejor paquete que puedes usar es uno
de temas financieros:
http://www.quantmod.com/
Ten en cuenta que en los mercados bursátiles tiene algún sentido usar ese
tipo de gráfico ya que en la apertura y mayormente en el cierre diario se
concentran operaciones.
Me imagino que esto no es así con

Supporting a DIY UPS with minimal effort butmaximum gain
Looks very great, thanks for writing this! I gather you'd port this to the
Wiki page you've started, too?
A couple of comments:

Since NUT v2.8.1 [PR #1369], the `usbhid-ups` driver allows the user to
