--delete-before doesn't seem to actually be deleting before transfer
I have a script transferring some backup files onto a USB stick, which has limited space. I use rsync 3.0.5 with the following command: rsync -av --delete-before /local/backups/dir/backup1_todaysdate /local/backups/dir/backup2_todaysdate /local/backups/dir/backup3_todaysdate /USBstick/backups/dir The USB stick runs out of space if more than 1 backup set is put on it, so I'd assumed that by

speex encoding
I am encoding audio with quality=0 (2150 bps) and get the expected 43 bits per packet (every 20 ms). However, in my limited testing I notice that the last 3 bits never change, seeming to indicate that the audio is fully encoded in 40 bits. It is important in my application that the audio is compressed as much as possable for transmission over a communication system. My question is, is it

I have been searching for some sort of document or hint as how to set this up, I could not find anything. Does any one know where a good document on this is located

Tell Samba, it should not allocate disk memory before copying file
Hello everybody, i am running samba 3.0.23c and i have a little problem when writing a file to a share. When i connect to my samba server, all the shares are shown correctly. Then i choose the one (my usbstick) where i would like to copy some files to. My client is a windows XP client and what happens is, that samba first creates the file and all the needed memory on the usbstick, before it

error: Could not intern from pson: source did not contain any PSON!
I am getting this error on the clients. (I am running with --test). rerunning the command works as expected. This does not happen every time. I have no idea what the message means or more precisely what a PSON is... Russell -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Windows Dos testing
Well I'll need to do more experiments first. I need to go out and find fdisk for windows. Ok like I said linux worked great and I think I'll just create a bootable cd to create a usb bootable sticks.(to give to windows users). Here is what I did for testing in windows. I started with zeroing out the flash drive in linux so that I knew I started from ground zero ie: "dd if=/dev/zero

Puppet client hangs if LDAP server is not accessible
Hi. I''ve noticed that on servers that are both puppet and LDAP clients, the puppet client will hang if the LDAP server is not reachable. Does anyone know what the reason for this is? Wine and DirectX
I have a couple of questions about Wine, just in an attempt to enhance my understanding of it: Is Wine writing its own implementation of DirectX, which sort of 'forwards' instructions to an equivilant in OpenGL? Is it possible to install the official MS DirectX under Wine? If not, why not? Thanks for any info :-)

3x AVM Fritz!Card PCI for a EuroISDN PBX.
Hi there! I'm currently considering various PBX solutions for our office telephone network, and would very much like to use Asterisk. Currently, my research is incomplete. I have been recommended to use the above cards, but it is unclear from my Googling whether my configuration will work: - 3x Fritz!Card PCI's in one host. - 3x 6 b-channels. - ~20 Budgetone (and some others)

bootable floppy image question
Hello, I'd be very grateful if someone can help me with the process of creating bootable floppy images to be used with isolinux/memdisk. I usually do the following: label image kernel memdisk append initrd=/bootdisk/image.img floppy (lines in isolinux.cfg file) Sometimes I pass memdisk the c/h/s parameters, depending on the image size. I have learned from this mailing list how to

R equivilant to RAND_MAX in C
Hello, I have some C code that I'm interfacing to R using the .C calling interface. Currently the C code uses the rand() function from the GNU C library to generate random numbers. Since I need the random numbers in a range from 0 to a (where a is an integer) I use the RAND_MAX macro as (int)(rand() * (float)(*nobs-1) / (RAND_MAX+1.0)) (taken from the rand() manpage) However, since I have

All mail users are virtual and mail works like: username at real-domain.com -> anotherusername at fake-domain.local. I whould like to check "delivery is possable" in the exim's ACL. In the exim+cirus scheme I use Callout verification from

feature request: gzip support in syslinux itself
HPA, is it possible to add GZ support in syslinux itself? Some standalone software compresses very well, but is not compressed. Example is the Memtest86+ binary (90KB uncompressed --> 35KB gzip'd) and maybe Smart Boot Manager (gzip'd COM32 binary instead of normal COM32 binary?). I'm using both on a simple bootdisk, and all space savings are welcome. a workaround could ofcourse
