Hint to Windoze users
Hi!
If you are trying to syslinux floppies or CompactFlash cards
from within Windows in a command prompt, here is a hint:
run
'syslinux.EXE drive_letter:'
instead of
'syslinux drive_letter:'
I banged my head yesterday with it... ;)
p.s. yes this also works with an USB adaptor

COM32 and network access
Hi!
i'm kinda investigating the possibility of using COM32 to manage an
in-house installation method.
For this to work, we need to have network access (HTTP preferred)
from within COM32 itself. That or any kind of query/response type
of network access.
This is an example of what we could use:
GET /somewhere/blah.asp?MACHINE=THIS
and parse the response from the server.
We're completely

As for this matter, it got solved in 2.11, as I tested it yesterday.
Sorry about the delay, but vacation got in the way ;)
Cheers!

PXE booting
Hi!
I have been using pxelinux with memdisk to boot our workstations with
our custom floppy, which is a MSDOS boot disk (actually it is win98)
On one of the PC's I'm testing, a Fujitsu-Siemens which has an AMDtek
based on-board network card and when PXE is activated,
it gets an IP from the DHCP, then it finds the TFTP server, downloads
pxelinux.0, executes it which causes the floppy to

SYSLINUX 3.10-pre6
This version cleans up the Ethersel (PCI config probing) changes I have
been iterating with Alex Heinz. It's not the same code (so please test,
especially Alex), but it should work the same.
As before, if you have a machine for which 2.13 worked and 3.0x hasn't
worked, please test this version too.

Can I use pxelinux to boot a cdrom image or isolinux from pxe?
Greetings,
I've been a user and fan of SYSLINUX for a couple of years now. I use PXELINUX
for a PXE server. I've only been able to boot linux kernel/initrd images and
dos bootdisks, however now I'm wanting to create a boot image for the 'Rescue
Is Possible' (RIP) linux recovery disk -

Invalid or corrupt kernel image
Hi,
I am trying to setup my own PXE boot server. I tried several PXE bootable Linux-Distributions.
For example if I use the ubuntu netboot image from [1] it works quit well but there are a few other images they do not work in my case e.g.: RIPLinuX [2]. A friend tested this image on his PXE boot server with success. I also checked the download with md5sum.
In my case I can see the boot menu [3].

Failure to boot isohybrid image from USB stick
Hi,
i did not succeed to get my test computer (Asus A7V8X-X
of 2004) to boot from an isohybrid image.
I tried
http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/RIPLinux-7.0-non-X.iso
which is obviously isohybrid enabled.
The system has a "Promise Ultra 133 TX2" IDE controller
which supercedes the mainboard BIOS.
To make the system react on the USB stick i set boot

Adding Things to Rescue Mode
I'd like to add a few things to rescue mode. I'm tired of having to use
a floppy with hardware drivers when ever I need to go into rescue mode and
there are a few other utilities that I'd like to add as well. How would I go
about doing this? Any pointers to FAQ's or "How to's"? I've done some
searching, but haven't found anything recent enough to be

Booting using single image file
Howdy,
I know that syslinux doesn't currently support this, but does anyone
here know how I might go about getting some sort of boot process
together that would have a single firmware image as opposed to seperate
files for initrd, kernel, and root fs?
Thanks.

booting on a dos software
Hi!
I've got a USB key with several tools (small linux, memtest86+)
booting via syslinux.
But now I have to add powermax.exe (a MSDOS tool to test Maxtor
disks) on this key.
As I've always been on Unix/Linux system, I don't know what
to do to run powermax.exe from syslinux.
I've made a boot floppy disk and tried to copy everything
on my usb key and put the command.com in kernel

syslinux on Windows to USB compactflash disk
Hi folks,
I'm trying to make a CompactFlash bootable with SYSLINUX. The hard part is
that I'm trying to run SYSLINUX on Windows 2000 and am attempting to write
to the compactflash that's plugged in via a USB reader/writer. Its not
working -- Windows complains about the 16-bit subsystem wanting direct
access to the drive.
So then is the problem SYSLINUX fighting with Windows or
