Problems with multiboot DVD and isolinux > 3.07
Hi, some time ago I tried to boot an isolinux boot loader from another one to be able to boot e.g. a Knoppix CD with its original boot loader and menus from a "main" isolinux on a multiboot DVD. This works for isolinux <= 3.07 now! However, newer isolinux boot loaders have some problems and the isolinux (e.g. of the Knoppix CD) loaded from the multiboot DVD's main isolinux

Starting isolinux from another isolinux
Hi, some time ago I asked if it is possible to boot one isolinux from another one. The reason: I tried to integrate a SuSE Live DVD on a multiboot DVD, but SuSE uses a modified version of isolinux. I tried the following: 1. I copied the isolinux stuff from the SuSE DVD to /boot/suselive. 2. I edited isolinux.bin and substituted "/boot/isolinux" by "/boot/ suselinux" 3. I

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre2
This version contains a fix to mbr.asm, plus a version of Murali's menu system, but ported to gcc. Although gcc produces much bigger 16-bit code (since it's really 32-bit code with prefixes) I figured it would be much easier for people to deal with since it requires the configuration to be compiled in. That being said, it's a *very* powerful menu system, partially *because*

SYSLINUX 3.08 released
Hello everyone, I have pushed out SYSLINUX 3.08. It's identical in all but version number to 3.08-pre11. Sorry for everything that probably should have been done that didn't make it, but I simply haven't had time :( :( :( However, given several bugs fixed in 3.08, this seemed important... Changes in 3.08: * SYSLINUX: Fix performance regression (-s mode always

crazy isolinux bug?- cmdline truncated only on vaio vgn-n250e
Ok, this is crazy, but I have a livedvd I created with fedora-8's syslinux-3.36-7.fc8 and when I boot under qemu ( -boot d -cdrom /dev/dvd) it boots just fine, but when I boot it on the actual hardware (vaio vgn-n250e), the kernel cmdline gets truncated at about the 99th character, causing problems. The same exact physical livedvd booted on a different box does not get truncated. The

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA, I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and 3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work fine with the same config. The error message I get is: ================================================================ IOSLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. ISOLinux + PXELinux
Is it possible to have a isolinux based boot CD, where one of the options is to boot off the network. This would mean, 1. The kernel that one boots into is on the network and not on the CD. So easy to make changes. 2. One does not need a 'PXE enabled' network card. - Murali

Multiboot with isolinux
I used to use multiple syslinux floppy images to implement what I call CD-ROM-multiboot (EL Torito supports up to 64 bootable images, Award BIOS 8 images, if not wrey old). Now that floppies are getting too small, I find that I must find a workaround for hard coded isolinux directory name in isolinux. Not a big deal, but there might be also others who would like to have multiboot feature. --

Hi, I'm Florent BERANGER, from Flonix ( http://www.flonix.com ). After several tests, we have found that Syslinux 3.00 pre9 is no longer compatible with USB stick booting. Syslinux 2.13 works fine with this feature. Error infos : Syslinux 3.00 pre9 only displays its version and a new line with a "a" character and then hangs. ISOLINUX/COM32 Command line
I have a small problem with my COM32 image. It is more related to how the COM32 images get their arguments. Here are the relavent parts of my isolinux.cfg ----- # default image = defimg default defimg # Boot automatically after 5 seconds timeout 50 # By default auto select image. If no autoselect list # found, then boot into prep label defimg kernel readker.c32 append prep
