Multi-NIC network boot floppy+cd+hd+com with PXE and NBI support: does interest?
Hi!
I'm preparing what should be a general "network boot" solution for the
ones that needs to do network boot on PC without BIOS support / ROM chips.
It supports both PXE (like pxelinux.0) and NBI images.
I've prepared a precompiled multi-driver image that can autodetect and
handle nearly 30 PCI and ISA NICs.
My "remote boot kit" contains the same image in 4

PXE floppy, PXELINUX and LOCALBOOT
Hi!
A friend of mine has tried a PXE floppy (build from the new etherboot
5.3.12) to load PXELINUX.0; a menu voice of the pxelinux.cfg use the
LOCALBOOT statement.
Selecting this statement, the PC retry to boot from the floppy... is
this normal?
The user expected that LOCALBOOT would have tried the NEXT boot device
(ie CDROM or HD), not the FIRST boot device (the floppy)...

Dummy question on Syslinux and MBR
Hi,
I've seen that syslinux does include also a MBR record.
But how can I install it on a HD under Windows? And how can I backup the
previous MBR?
Does syslinux help us on this task also?
bye!

Changing USB-key geometry from syslinux.exe?
I'm playing with syslinux 3.0x to get PC to boot from USB key...
In particular, I'm giving a look at the "ZIP geometry hack" to get some more
BIOS boot working with USB...
Some question:
- if we have a usbkey with a single partition, can we change the geometry
without requiring to reformat the partition? Or is a reformat unavoidable?
- at the moment we can use the "ZIP

Trouble with Syslinux 3.07 and USB-key
Hi,
I've a usb-key that boot regularly on a PC using syslinux 2.09; well,
this PC (a thin-client) at the moment is the only PC that can boot from
USB in my office... and it usually booted oretty well, without any hacks...
After changed to syslinux 3.07, it stopped booting, showing a simple
"BOOT ERROR" message, nothing more...
Reverting to syslinux 2.09, it restarted to work...

Pxelinux/memdisk with Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy
Just for the record, I want to let the list know that I succeeded in
booting a modified Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy from
http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/
I started with a Win98 Bootfloppy from http://www.tobs.uku.co.uk.
Then I made a disk image from this, using dd.exe from cygwin.
Then I converted this disk image from 1.44MB to 2.88MB with winimage.
Then I copied

Default R-3.4.0 RC CXXFLAGS without -O2 on x86_64-linux-gnu with g++-5.4.0 causes WARNING from stl_list.h
This is fixed in R-rc_2017-04-19_r72555.tar.gz
If you are affected by this issue then please test the RC tarball. This
is the last chance to detect problems (including those created by the
last-minute patch) before the release of R 3.4.0.

HD Voice -- connecting Asterisk into HD Voice compatible mobile phone
I've just noticed that mobile phones are starting to support HD Voice.
http://thenextweb.com/apple/2012/09/21/iphone-5s-hd-voice-impressive-theres-still-work-done/Is
there any hardware capable of connecting HD voice quality calls into
Asterisk now? I see that Asterisk compatible GSM hardware is available, but
does anything support HD voice presently or should in the future?

pxelinux/memdisk booting MSDOS floppy image requires local floppy disk
I found that if I do not have a local floppy installed and enabled on my client,
I will get the error 'Non-system disk' when I try to boot DOS floppy images.
NT or Syslinux floppy images boot fine.
If I enable the floppy in the BIOS, then it boots the DOS floppies just fine.
Is this normal? Is there a workaround?
There are MS-DOS images, so perhaps this is an MS-DOS limitation.

floppy's led doesn't turn off. Can I safely pull off the floppy media?
syslinux 3.11 (from debian's 3.11-3 package) does it job. The machine boots as expected
with an 1.44 floppy. Yet the floppy driver's led doesn't turn off.
1) Is this a syslinux issue?
2) Can I safely remove the boot floppy (media) without dameging it?
From memory:
$ cat syslinux.cfg
say linux 2.6.14 (probably with debian modifications)
default linux
append root=/dev/nfs

ntlm_auth, universal principal name, multi-domain active directory - can samba authenticate?
I posted a similar message on the freeradius list a few months ago and it
was suggested I come here. Now that this effort is once again underway I am
looking for some assistance.
We are trying to replace our existing AAA solution with FreeRadius. The
user base is contained in an Active Directory single forest-multi domain
model.
The only feature of samba that we need to leverage is the
