unloading memdisk
Hi Peter, I'm using isolinux and memdisk to create a multiboot rescue cd for personal use as described on Bart's page (www.nu2.nu). One boot item is to boot DOS 7.1 from Win98SE with a lot of other staff for emergencies. This DOS bootimage puts all necessary stuff into it's own ramdisk (XMSDSK). Some progs on the ramdisk needs access to floppy drive A: and unfortunately I've no

Unique rows in data frame (with condition)
I have to deal with data frames that contain multiple entries of the same (based on an identifying collumn 'id'). The second collumn is mostly corresponding to the the id collumn which means that double entries can be eliminated with ?unique. a <- unique(data.frame(timestamp=c(3,3,3,5,8), mylabel=c("a","a","a","b","c"))) However

Filenames with blanks
Command like this: rsync -rxlupogtSvve ssh $src_host:"/home/wss_disk/calendar.data/'Conference Calls'" $targ_dir works fine with blanks embeded in the file name. When I try to script it like this: COM='`find '$src_dir' -mtime -'$days' -type f `' rsync -rxlupogtSvve ssh $src_host:"$COM" $targ_dir works fine on regular filenames,

special chars in windows filenames
Hi folks! I upgraded a red hat linux fileserver (kernel version 2.4.18-14) from samba 2.x to samba 3.02. After the upgrade, the special chars in windows filenames (German Umlaute) were no more visible to clients but either substituted with a little black rectangle or completely suppressed - depending on the client operating system (W2000/W98). Within the archived list I found a hint that the

[LLVMdev] warnings in inline assembly with used labels and -Wunused-label
Hi, llvm-gcc 4.2 generates warnings when I compile inline assembly code that contains used labels with -Wunused-label. The generated code seems to work yet. gcc 4.2 doesn't generate those warnings. I haven't found any bugs regarding this issue in the llvm bug database. Does anyone know if this is a known llvm issue? Is it a warning that I can ignore and does not affect the generated

global append changes since version 5
In Syslinux 5-6.02, the "global append" directive is being (unintentionally) ignored in some cases. Updating Syslinux from prior versions, when using a "global append" directive, will cause unexpected results. For example, take the following simple configuration file: *** DEFAULT mykernel APPEND root=/dev/sda2 *** Note that the 'append' line is a global

splitting a string into words preserving blanks (using regex)
I would like to split a string into words at its blanks but also to preserve all blanks. Example: c(" some words to split ") should become c(" ", "some", " ", " words", " ", "to" , " ", "split", " ") I was not able to achieve this via strsplit() . But I am not familiar with regular

hackish error handling
I''ve got a block of code that''s turning out.. well - just plain ugly. So i know I must not be doing it the Ruby way. The main problem I''m having is in dealing with handling errors - and just not finding much Rails documentation that gives a deeper understanding of how to handle errors in Rails (outside of several docs on the catch-all''s) the main method

Arrange values on a timeline
I have a set of labels arranged along a timeframe in a. Each label has a timestamp and marks a state until the next label. The dataframe a contains 5 such timestamps and 5 associated labels. This means, on a continious scale between 1-100, there are 5 markers. E.g. 'abc' marks the timestampls between 10 and 19, 'def' marks the timestamps between 20 and 32, and so on. a <-

Problems with blanks and umlauts in filenames with Rserve
Dear R developers, I'm trying to load files by means of Rserve. If the files have blanks in it names or german umlauts the loading failes(for example when using the rgdal lib with readGDAL() ). In the R application without Rserve this works. Is there a general encoding recipe or switch that this works in Rserve, too ? Any help is appreciated -- View this message in context:

Option LABEL
Hallo, linux-btrfs, please delete the option "-L" (for labelling) in "mkfs.btrfs", in some configurations it doesn''t work as expected. My usual way: mkfs.btrfs -d raid0 -m raid1 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd ... One call for some devices. Wenn I add the option "-L mylabel" then each device gets the same label, and therefore some other programs

Blanks in filenames generated by ssh-keygen (Was RE: GSSAPI)

I'll look at ssh-keygen.c and see if I can rectify that. Is there a particular reason to allow leading/trailing blanks in the key file name? If there is no such reason, then buf should be trimmed in ask_filename(), around line 250

dovecot can't see mail that is there
I used to install dovecot on any Fedora fresh installation and I could fetch my internal mail few minutes later. Now I've been struggling for two days and I haven't got my mail working yet. I have Fedora 14 with sendmail. Some application on the same machine send mail to an account on the same machine (hence all is confined to one machine) and I want to retrieve it from a laptop
