Splash screen problem
I've been creating bootable Linux CDs for some time, and something I've
consistently found is: on certain systems the splash screen won't display
when I use isolinux. All I get is white, empty space where the splash would
ordinarily go. Text included under the splash screen appears as it should,
but the image itself doesn't.
I've experimented with different resolutions of

VB Code to convert BMP to LSS for splash screens
The following code can be used to convert a 256 color BMP to LSS format for use as a SYSLINUX/ISOLINUX/PXELINUX Splash screen. The bitmap must be LESS than 640 pixels wide (bug) and only uses the first 16 colors. CorelDraw and PhotoShop are good for re-palletizing and dithering.

bootsplash: splash=silent always boots as splash=verbose
Hi there,
I am trying to migrate from using syslinux with the gfxboot patch to using vesamenu.c32 which is a much simpler solution for my needs. The only problem I am having is that when I attempt to use the "splash=silent" kernel parameter it always boots as though I had entered "splash=verbose". By which I mean that the vga mode is correct, and the verbose graphics are

Changing isolinux/splash.jpg on custom ISO
Hi all,
I know I've done this in the past, but I can't seem to get it working
today...
I want to roll my own ISO and use custom splash.jpg. If I roll the
ISO with the stock splash.jpg, it works. When I save my own 800x600 .jpg
as splash.jpg though, I get a black screen. I made sure the permissions
and ownership was the same.
Is there a special way that the JPG has to be

CentOS7 KDE - post-boot splash screen
Hello List Members,
I decided to install C7 KDE on a workstation for a friend of mine. Works
great, but the post-boot KDE splash screen (light blue and has 3 or more up
^ arrows that move from the lower center upwards) is a bit of a frustration
for that person. I've determined that one can press the Escape key and move
from that bluish splash to the login screen. (And at one point rolling the

excel 97 'splash screen' error is back
All,
The system is FC2 with wine 20050211 installed. The win environment is a
native win98 partition. A boot of the native partition runs excel 97 w/o
issue. Attempts to run excel under wine result in the excel splash
screen being locked in the forground window and no access to exel. The
only way out is to kill all wine pids. As per the notes dcom98.exe is
successfully installed. (as a note

splash screen + gfx
Hi
I'm still looking for a good intro splash/credit image for ogg vorbis to
go into ATD's games. The little blue fish is neat but not really up to
scratch or big enough.
I need something that is 640 x 480 and eye catching. :] Is there an
official image apart from the fish?
Think 'bink' and you'll be on the right lines.
I have yet to notice any publicity come from vorbis use

splash screen
Is the splash screen RLE is standard 640x480x4 or a modified one
because I can neither open the file in Photoshop CS2 (Windows under
ext2fsd) or Gimp 2.2 (Linux 2.6.12.16ubuntu) and I am unable to
decipher Perl scripts. Will syslinux support standard RLE?

Splash Screen
Is there a way to show only a splash screen during the boot up, like not
even the BIOS text? I would like to make a kiosk with no indication of
what is running.
Thanks,

splash screen resolution
I installed CentOS 5.3 on a desktop box, and I'm having a problem with
the splash screen resolution (during bootup).
I suppose that it somehow got configged when I set the GUI's screen (I
run in level 5). I think that, in finding the highest res for the GUI, I
went past the monitor's capability. But it's good now.
During boot, I get a funny 'double' display (2 pointers, 2

Omnipage 17 hangs at splash screen
I'm trying to use OmniPage 17 Pro. Wine is 1.3.15 from the Ubuntu PPA, running on Ubuntu Maverick.
It seems to have installed okay, but running it gets as far as the splash screen and hangs. Terminal output is:
