pxelinux 2.11 unable to mount root fs
Hi, I've been using PxeLinux to boot our Debian kernel successfully for some time now. I recently increased the size of the ramdisk from about 484 MBs to 517 MBs and encountered the following error during bootup: --- RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0 Freeing initrd memory: 105519k EXT3-fs: Magic mismatch, very weird! cramfs: wrong magic sh-2021: reiserfs_read_super: can not find

tftpd-hpa file download status
Quick question: is it possible to get the status of files being downloaded from the tftp server? Perhaps from a log file? Perhaps from an RPC call? I'm using tftpd-hpa along with PXELinux and it would be really nice if I could query the download progress of the kernel and ramdisk images. Thanks, Salman

DOS/Freedos: Can't use mkfloppyimg.sh or mkdiskimage for +8M images ( Murali (????? ?????) )
Sorry for the delay, I should not send email on an holiday week-end. I'll try to answer all the questions by explaining what does work for me right now, and what I'd like to do. I have a script to create the a USB stick or an ISO image. The boot media contains many DOS images, and I use versamenu to select one of them. If my DOS image is smaller than 8megs, everything is working fine as

DOS/Freedos: Can't use mkfloppyimg.sh or mkdiskimage for +8M images ( Solved)
Hi, I did found the problem, a combination of 2 factor. 1- I taught that I did install the latest syslinux, but in fact it was the 3.36 version. 2- Thank to kevin Connelly, he point me to a problem he got with mkdosfs command. The default FAT16 do not work, but the FAT12 do. By adding -F12 to the mkdosfs command fix the problem. The default F16 do seem to work for <8M floppy image. Thank you

[memdisk] remote booting diskless Mini-ITX system
Hi, As the subject suggests, I am trying to remote boot a Mini-ITX system. I am using PXELinux as the bootloader, and Memdisk (2.11) as the 'kernel'. My ramdisk image is a hard drive image based on PC-DOS. Two things go wrong during the boot process. 1. "INT 13 08: Failure, assuming this is the only drive" message 2. "Loading boot sector... booting..." message,

SAMBA digest 1524
I'm getting the following in my logs when people try to connect to our Samba server. Any idea why this happens? The smb passwd file is there, and the user *does* exist. When I try to connect to the server, Win95 gets a message saying "You must supply a passowrd to make this conection. \\salamanda\IPC$". Security = server, the WinNT boxes have SP3 loaded, and this is Samba

Problems with repeated calls to setTimeout?
Prototype.js and Thomas''s effects scripts use repeated setTimeout calls for timed looping, for instance in time-based observers. On Konqueror 3.4.1 (possibly other khtml-based browsers, too), these observers reproducibly crash the browser. Just keeping open a browser with such an observer is enough. After some time it invariably segfaults. When I substitute setInterval for setTimeout

core show translation - difference in Asterisk Versions
Hello All, I was wondering if somebody could elaborate the change in translation of codecs specifically the amount of time increased in Asterisk 11. Coverity and libvorbis
Hi all, I'm not sure if you are aware, but libvorbis has been scanned by the Coverity static analysis team : http://scan.coverity.com/ For libvorbis, it found 8 possible bugs. To fix these bugs Coverity need a repesentative from the project to contact them for access to the coverity reporting facilities. The reason I am keen to see Xiph take up this challenge is that when all

Com32/PXELINUX issues when booting on certain hardware
Hi, It is possible for some BIOSes to return non-page-aligned values for the start and length of regions in the BIOS memory map (through int 15h, e820h). As a result, the initrd is loaded by linux.c32 (a provided com32 module) in a manner such that the last page contains both a portion of initrd and some BIOS data. The linux kernel treats this page as part of the ramdisk file system and ends up

Subscripting a matrix-like object
I have an S3 class called "tis" (Time Indexed Series) which may or may not have multiple columns. I have a function "[<-.tis" that I've reproduced below. My question is this: inside of "[<-.tis", how can I distinguish between calls of the form x[i] <- someValue and x[i,] <- someValue ? In either case, nargs() is 3, and looking at the values

Samba running slow
Hello everyone: Over the past few years I have been a happy samba user, running samba on Redhat / FC platforms. Recently I upgraded hardware, and Samba hasn't been performing well at all.. which makes me sad :-( The new hardware is Asus P5B board with a dual-core intel processor. This board has an onboard Realtek RTL8111/8168B gigabit ethernet controller, which was a hassle to setup.
