isolinux pathnames
Quick Question About Bootable CDs: Am I correct in assuming that ISOLINUX locates its files by accessing a Directory Tree in ASCII addressed by the Primary Volume Descriptor in the final session of the CD? I'm working on an On-The-Fly CDR Archiving Program and doing some advance research into Boot Mechanisms. Faictz Ce Que Vouldras: Frank Mitchell

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA, I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and 3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work fine with the same config. The error message I get is: ================================================================ IOSLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. memdisk - reboot loaded image
Is there a method to reboot a memdisk (floppy) image? I'm working on a DOS-based installation floppy that needs to repartition the hard disk prior to proceeding. DOS will only recognize the updated partition table after a reboot, but I'd like to be able to save information to the currently loaded memdisk floppy disk and simply reboot the image. Possible? I haven't had any luck with

very low speed local network browsing from win xp clients
Hi Everyone there! We have a very annoying problem since several months when browsing the local network (workgroup) from win xp clients (from win98 clients it's almost OK). The machines in the workgroup appearing very slooow (about 15-20 sec), and this value doesn't change even in the 2nd or 3rd browse. We have 1 linux (debian 2.4.21 pre 3) pc, running the samba (2.2312) server, about 15

I just saw your post and I would definitely be interested in an 8 MB DOS images to work with pxelinux. Whither app_nv_faxdetect
Anyone know where the sources for app_nv_faxdetect officially live? I couldn't turn them up on a web search, just patched versions for 1.4, etc. Thanks.

Whither LM87 sensor driver?
From my reading of the Linux Kernel mailing list, it seems that the LM87 sensor driver made it into kernel 2.6.8. Anyone know why it is not present in the RHEL4/Centos4.2 current kernel? Thanks.

Whither virt-inspector packaging?
Looking at epel-testing, while libguestfs-* 1.0.57-2 is available, virt-inspector does not appear to be. http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/rpms/libguestfs/EL-5/libguestfs.spec?view=markup shows the virt-inspector bits commented out, and http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/rpms/libguestfs/EL-5/libguestfs.spec?view=log doesn't appear to have an explanation. Wuzzup? :)

Whither asterisk-addons?
I noticed that asterisk.org got a redesign, quite recently it seems, which is very nice, but the addons package isn't listed for download any longer, nor are releases posted to http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/ . That said, looks like it's still available in svn, http://svnview.digium.com/svn/asterisk-addons/tags/1.6.1.1/ . So just wondering if addons will be around for

Whither Goest Wine?
It seems that fewer and fewer favorite programs run with wine. Stuff that ran 100% on older builds crashes out on the newer ones with elan. There needs to be (more) regression testing. However, damage has already been done and propagated and needs correction simply to get back to the previous level of operability.
