chain.c32 question
I'd like to use chain.c32 to allow the computer boot from HARDDISK if needed. If I use isolinux and boot from CD, the following works OK: chain.c32 hd0 But if I boot from USB Flash Key, it sometimes work and sometimes it doesn't and I have to use chain.c32 hd1 (it seems BIOS assigns hd0 to the flash key sometimes, so the real harddisk is hd1 in that case). Is there any way to tell

Syslinux 3.85 chain.c32 problem solved
Thanks to debugging information from Thomas Mieslinger, I have root-caused the failure of chain.c32 in Syslinux 3.85. I have put out Syslinux 3.86-pre1 and Syslinux 4.00-pre33 which fix the problem. I expect to release a Syslinux 3.86 relatively shortly (ideally in the next two weeks), with bug fixes only. I would like to figure out if there are other bug fixes we can get in in reasonable time,

Can this work?
I would like to develop a system where by I can boot any of the machines on my system - and select from a menu what I would like that particular client to do. For example, maybe load a bootdisk image from a network share, and boot that. Or boot the first partition on the local disk.

pxelinux 5.01 chain.c32 hd0 not working on SmartArray P220i
Hello, I've been having a problem trying to boot from first hard drive via pxelinux 5.01 on a HP Proliant server having a SmartArray P220i RAID controller. On other hardware and VMs that i've tried it works. My config file looks like this: label localboot kernel chain.c32 append hd0 Is this a known issue or has anyone experienced this? Thanks, Andrei

PXELINUX booting delays with dual Ethernet ports
We're using PXELINUX for bootstrapping the network install our Linux cluster nodes. We just got some new IBM 326m dual-Opteron servers with Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5780 dual-Gigabit Ethernet ports. These dual-Ethernet servers work in an annoying way with PXELINUX when we configure for booting from the local hard disk as the PXE-client downloads this file from the DHCP/TFTP server: label

anyone using pxelinux.0 > 3.36 successfully with HP DLXXX G3, G5?
Hello * this morning I tried to upgrade from pxelinux 3.11 to 3.84 and discovered that the localboot stuff does not work on HP DL360 G3 and G5. The latest syslinux Version I found with a working localboot is 3.36. pxelinux.cfg/default: default harddisk prompt 1 label harddisk localboot 0 implicit 0 timeout 250 This so simple, it should just work, shouldn't it? syslinux hard drive boot problem
I've recently moved from pxegrub to pxelinux (well, syslinux...) for many benefits. (memory fingerprint, etc) Its running perfectly, and exactly how I like it, except. LOCALBOOT 0 DOES NOT actually mount and boot the hard drive. All it seems to be doing is actually return error to the BIOS, which then boots the next device in it's list. This isnt a problem on most systems, but on

chain.c32 "Chainboot failed!"
Hi, I am using syslinux-4.00-pre24, -pre27 and -pre31. chain.c32 fails for pre27 and pre31 for particular configs ... shown below. 1) works on pre24, fails with error message "Chainboot failed!" for pre27 and pre31 LABEL local MENU DEFAULT MENU LABEL Local Boot ... (skip PXE boot) KERNEL chain.c32 APPEND hd0 0 2) works on all three. LABEL local

Re: SYSLINUX Digest, Vol 33, menu.c32 chaining
Hello, many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

memdisk load failure on HP DL360g9
Hi all, I have observed a problem where, under legacy BIOS booting mode on the DL360g9, memdisk fails to execute. The same mechanism works fine on the DL360g8. The system displays the below on the console and ceases to respond and must be power cycled. Updating the firmware didn't help. There didn't appear to be any similar issues on the mailing list unless I missed them. Wondering if

Two Windows 2k8 Server an booting via pxelinux
Hello list, I have a question concerning the possibility of booting one of two Windows systems installed on two partitions. In case with one Windows system and one Linux system, I can chainload grub or windows loader, and this is OK. But in case with two Windows systems, when I installed second system, the installer added multi boot loader(I think it's called bootmgr), and then I can't

Chain loading hard disk with gPXELinux
Hello syslinux mailing list, I've been working on a kind of system administration tool ( http://twyna.sourceforge.net/) with a colleague of mine for our Computer Science Bachelor degree internship. I hope I'm saying that right :) We use gPXELinux to boot over a web service and it's all working marvellously, except for the localboot bug. Until now we've used chain.c32 to solve

Still blocked with chain.c32
Hi again, I'm still blocked with chain.c32. Does it allow drive swapping like Grub or not? If not, how to boot a Windows system that is located on hd1 1 (instead of regular hd0 1)? Can't find any clue/doc on chain.c32. Thanks

ISOLINUX 3.85 chain.c32 issue
Hi all, I have a similar issue with Thomas Mieslinger mentioned in the previous mail. The difference is here isolinux is used instead of gpxelinux.0. I use isolinux 3.85, and "chain.c32 hd0" to boot the local Debian Lenny Linux on VMWare workstation 6.5, it fails. If I replace it with isolinux 3.84, it works. Hope this report helps. Questions re PXELINUX
I have been using PXELINUX for a while and appreciate all you guys are doing! I have a couple of questions re PXELINUX: 1. I am experiencing problems with the LOCALBOOT statement on an IBM x3650. IBM mentions the following: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5084755 I am using PXELINUX 4.04. Is this problem still attributed to some bug in PXELINUX? Right now I
