modifying initrd before high mem load
Hi, I have an interesting question for you. Given the output of scramble(initrd) = S, I am interested in having [iso|sys|pxe]linux perform unscramble(S) = initrd before they load it into high memory. As a simple example, suppose scramble() were simply a XOR with a constant value of the gzip magic number at the front of the initrd image. I would like to insert the following, but I can't seem

[PATCH 1/3] Fix loading of *.lkrn images from gPXE
Attempts to load *.lkrn images were failing with "Not enough memory to load specified image". These images have the su_ramdisk_max header field set to zero, and the code in core/runkernel.inc was limiting MyHighMemSize too early (before the load_high call used to load the main part of the kernel). pxelinux bug's
Hello Peter, The attached patch contains three small (although 2 of them are fundamental :) fixes for pxelinux 1. Alignment error when more than one initramfs are loaded using initrd - the alignment of the last disk is discarded in calculations but is ALWAYS present when the loading procedure is called. As a result - the second image (cpio) is not recognized. 2. On some platforms

x86 vs. x86_64 detection proof of concept patch (try two)
Greetings all, Sorry, resending this with the attachment inline. First of all, a disclaimer: Please forgive my horrible assembly code. This is just a quick munging of code to achieve x86 versus x86_64 detection within pxelinux. So please look at it as a proof of concept and not a real piece of code. :) For example it only works on pxelinux and has no thought for extending it beyond simple x86

[RFC][PATCH] Gfxboot COMBOOT module
So here it is. Ugly and far from acceptable shape but nonetheless it seems to work. Parts are borrowed from syslinux core and of course the gfxboot patch for syslinux 3.63. [PATCH] Gfxboot COMBOOT module
This is the latest version of the gfxboot module. It's supposed to work on all Syslinux derivatives. Samba 3.05 pdc
I'm trying to connect a Windows 2000 workstation to my samba pdc domain. I have followed all the steps in the documentation to setup samba as a pdc, but I have not been able to connect any workstations to the domain. Does anyone have a example smb.conf file I can compare with mine. I checked the "log.smbd" and I'm getting the following messages when I tried to add a computer

"so old bootloader ..." with syslinux-3.05 on x86_64
Hi, I'm trying to install Fedora Core 3 on an AMD 64-based machine using PXE (via DHCP and TFTP). I've managed to get the machine to load the kernel over the network and start booting, but instead of loading the root fs from initrd.img (that I appended as a config via pxelinux.cfg), it loads the pre-existing rootfs on my harddisk. At the top of dmesg is the message: "so old

SYSLINUX 3.05 released
I decided the FAT directory-parsing bug was about as serious as it gets, so I decided to push out a new release. However, I decided I feel comfortable enough with the new features (or at least, that they wouldn't break anything else, knock on wood) that I did the patch off the 3.10 development tree and called it 3.05. Changes in 3.05: * New API function "shuffle and

MS-DOS, WinXP SP2 with 3.05 and 3.0.6rc2
Hello! I use Windows XP SP2 on my clients. I use the http://unattended.sf.net to automatically install my WinXP machines from a MS-DOS client. This works fine in samba-3.0.5 but since SP2 causes a problem with printers I upgraded to samba-3.0.6rc2. RC2 in turn doesn't work with MS-DOS clients. The symptom is that I can boot from the fileserver but when I try to invoke a program I get
