serial vs console and serialonly
hi hpa, etal
I found a patch against 2.06 that turned off console when serial was in use.
http://centerclick.org/net4801/pxelinux/syslinux.patch
This patch works, but appears to turn off the console unconditionally.
I went to see how it would fit in 2.11, and it seems youve already started
adding this feature. If so great, but how do I control it from a
config-file ?
I didnt see any new

Is this a problem with pxelinux or a Soekris bios?
Hello,
Recently I have discovered a problem with serial console output when
net-booting a Soekris net5501 board via pxe. When using pxelinux.0 from
syslinux 4.04 package I get only 15 characters from the output, then the
carriage returns back to the same line over and over again, making it
impossible to read the output. What is more the booting process (trying

changing i386 COMMAND_LINE_SIZE to 1024

It seems to work. Is this all there is to it ?
One of the reasons I did this was to figure out what extra options are
appearing, and why.

bwplot and panel.bwplot
Hello,
I am trying to use "bwplot" to display whisker boxes according to some conditioning factors ("age" has two values 1/2). I get the following messages:

patch README.menu
hpa,
since Ive asked a few dumb questions, and gotten good & gentle answers,
I did some pennance.
in README.menu, you say 'copy to appropriate location'.
I was left a bit unsure what appropriate was, but in absense of any
specifics
I went with the obvious 1st guess, and it worked.
attached makes it specific - ie same directory as your syslinux.conf.
obviously, you might have better

Grandstream GXP2160 + SRTP
Hello,
I am trying to setup a Grandstream GXP2160 IP-phone with secure calling
(SRTP).
Secure signaling SSIP for registration is working great !
I follow this guide :
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Secure+Calling+Tutorial
But when I try to make a call with SRTP, I get stuck. There is an
initial INVITE which is anwered with a 401. There should follow a new
INVITE with a nonce,

Direct Media and message "SIP/SipAgent-00000bf9 requested media update control 26, passing it to SIP/ead14-00000bfb"
Hello,
I have the following construction :
Provider --> SipAgent (asterisk) --> Asterisk Server_A --> IP-phone
(Snom 370)
If a call comes in from the "Provider" to my SipAgent, then my SipAgent
send the call to the correct Asterisk Server_A (dialplan logic based on
number). The Asterisk Server_A takes the call and sends it to the IP-phone.
My SipAgent has DirectMedia=yes

Appropriate test for overdispersion in binomial data
Dear R users,
Overdispersion is often a problem in binomial data. I attempt to model a
binary response (sex-ratio) with three categorical explanatory variables,
using GLM, which could assume the form:
y<-cbind(sexf, sample-sexf)
model<-glm(y ~ age+month+year, binomial)
summary(model)
Output:
(Dispersion parameter for binomial family taken to be 1)
Null deviance: 8956.7 on 582

HDT 0.5.0 is out
Just a quick note to tell that I did release HDT 0.5.0.
Main feature of this release is the dumping of the detected components
over TFTP (meaning PXE is _mandatory_ to work).
I did fix also the auto mode where more combinations didn't worked as
expected.
I invite people reading this page that speaks about the dump feature :

extlinux 3.20-pre8 notes
hi Peter, everyone,
I recently installed extlinux on my CF drive.
after a few botches, it works, with menu.c32 too.
Heres a few notes/observations:
- menuing seems pretty sensitive to presence of tabs in extlinux.conf,
unlike with pxelinux.cfg/default, Is this an oversight,
or something Im misremembering ?
- extlinux doesnt have the timeout after menu-choice.
if I dont choose, it times out and

SIP Connection Question
Hi All,
I have a question about how a particular situation would work between two
PBX systems:
If I were to connect my Mitel box to my Asterisk box via a SIP trunk (same
rack, same network), and then pass a call from the Mitel to Asterisk to
perform some functions (lookups, maybe routing), and then pass the call back
to the Mitel to be routed to it's endpoint, would Asterisk stay in that

Samba, the GPL and SCO
For those of you following the IBM vs SCO legal case, you have probably
noticed that SCO has said that the GPL is invalid. IBM appears to make
the reasonable case that you can't say something is void, and then rely
on it. INAL, but why is SCO allowed to distribute Samba without agreeing
to the GPL? That's like buying a car, then claiming the sale agreement
is bogus but you still want

Auto-Removal of Straggling File locks due to Ungraceful Client Disconnects
Hi all,
This question has come up many times before in a number of guises.
But I do not believe that it has ever been answered satisfactorily.
This may well reflect fundamental difficulties in the CIFS protocol
However, recent incarnations of Windows Server seem to handle the problem
better
possibly due to tweaks in the underlying TCP/IP stack vis-a-vis Linux.
At the end of the day, a
