simple menu limitations
I am using the following simple menu and have noticed that items at the

limit to how many items can be on the simple menu?

Any errors in the process for creating bootable DOS image
Hi all,
I want to create a bootable DOS 6.22 image for
pxelinux + memdisk. The following is my steps, anyone
who knows what wrong with them?
1. Create image from a bootable floppy
dd if=/dev/fd0 of=dosboot.img
dd if=/dev/fd0 of=dos.bss bs=512 count=1
mount -o loop -t msdos dosboot.img /mnt/image
cp dos.bss /mnt/image
umount /mnt/image
2. config file in pxelinux.cfg folder

missing syslinux details/docs
I'm running into some issues with regard to isolinux and memdisk, and am
not sure where to ask/look in the best way possible. These are
DOS-related issues.
So here goes:
* Can MEMDISK map a imagefile (compressed? harddisk?) to more than
(and/or beyond) 4GB of memory? Say you'd have 8/16GBGB and want 4GB
available to the user so might as well use the other 4/12GB for MEMDISK.

working directory in 5.00pre8 and 4.06
Hello,
The following is a comparison of 4.06 and 5.00pre8 behaving
differently.
I made a floppy image with Syslinux 4.06. I installed ldlinux.sys
with:
syslinux --directory /boot/syslinux/ --install /dev/fd0
and I added pwd.c32 to the same directory, but I intentionally did
not build a syslinux.cfg file.
While testing the floppy image in a VM, it correctly boots to the

Ok Feri, of course there is no reason for insults, but still, some
groups take offense at any criticism. If I sound bitchy it is only as

Boot image from hard drive from syslinux initiated by a floppy disk boot
I have been trying to find the information by searching through the
archives and google, so I am sorry if this question has been asked
before I just have not been able to find an answer.
I have a syslinux boot floppy which loads to the boot prompt, I wish to
load a .gz image which is on my hd0 0 by using memdisk as the kernel. I
have tried to kernel memdisk append root=/dev/hd0 0 (also just

menu.c32 - Just loads the menu.c32 over and over.
Hi,
I am trying to use the Simple Menu system for SYSLINUX/ISOLINUX, but it fails to work.
The menu apper, I can select menu entries, but pressing "ENTER" just takes me back to start. It seem like menu.c32 just reloads.
Pressing Space does almost the same, exept the selected item is the one on the bottom instead of the top.
By pressing ESC and getting back to command line, I am able

Build a bootable floppy image which contains HDT
It is now possible to build a bootable floppy image which contains HDT,
with my patch applied to Erwans HDT branch:
http://git.zytor.com/?p=users/erwan/hdt.git;a=commit;h=16b37fe2266c920087f88cdec94243b71218d871
Unpack the Syslinux archive and build whole Syslinux first,
then cd to ./com32/hdt/ and make hdt.img
$ make
$ cd ./com32/hdt/
$ make hdt.img
Now you have a 2.88 MB floppy image which

pxelinux menu questions
Hello all,
I have a few questions about the menuing system that I haven't been able
to find in the archives (it would be nice if they were available in a
searchable form other than having to click on a month-by month basis and
read through them - if they are searchable I would love to find a way to
do this but it hasn't jumped out at me).
My first question is : What is menu.c32? I

Booting from boot image with no problem, I try reading root-1 and root-2

root-1 and 2 images are smaller than 1440 kB and are made the same way with

PxeLinux menu.c32 chaining
Hello,
many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

Mounting Floppies
Hi - daft one for Friday morning coffee break:
I have been trying to mount floppies on a couple of CentOS5 servers - the
usual "mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy" (yes, /mnt/floppy exists!).
On both servers, the mount command just doesn't come back and I have to hit
CTRL-C. I have tried different media and also changed the floppy drive on
one server, /dev/fd0 is seen as present on both

Thanks for your response, and how would you suggest that one would fix that?

Memdisk ramdisk hangs using menu.c32, but ok from cmdline.

I'm trying to use syslinux 3.08-pre11 on a Gateway E4000 with the

selected as a menu option, but do boot if I press ESC and type the
command line manually.
The two options are for the same floppy image, but the first is

DBAN and vesamenu.c32
I'm integrating DBAN (http://dban.sourceforge.net/) into our PXE boot
menu system (using vesamenu.c32) but it just hangs when I'm using
vesamenu.c32 and confusingly when I revert our menu system to using
vesa.c32 it works ok. I've stripped out any extraneous configuration but
it still seems to have the same problem.
When I use this in pxelinux.cfg it boots into DBAN ok:

ethersel.c32 issues
Hello!
ethersel.c32 does not seem to work with all PCs. I have prepared a
floppy that uses ethersel.c32 to load a NIC-specific file (etherboot
.zlilo image). See http://etherboot.anadex.de for details.
It works with every NIC and every PC I own, but not with VMWare. I know
VMWare has some problems, so that did not bother me at all and I
published it anyway but I have received several e-mails

SYSLINUX 2.08-pre5 released
Goodness, how many prereleases has there been in the last week... have
lost count...
Anyway, I have implemented the already-promised chainbooting API, and
have included a sample program to chainboot floppies (it works for
harddisks too, but only for the MBR.)
As a bonus, in the process I actually discovered that booting .bs/.bss
images under SYSLINUX was actually broken... that has been
