booting on a dos software
Hi!
I've got a USB key with several tools (small linux, memtest86+)
booting via syslinux.
But now I have to add powermax.exe (a MSDOS tool to test Maxtor
disks) on this key.
As I've always been on Unix/Linux system, I don't know what
to do to run powermax.exe from syslinux.
I've made a boot floppy disk and tried to copy everything
on my usb key and put the command.com in kernel

memdisk and usb flash devices as primary hard drives.
Has anybody tried to boot a dos disk via memdisk with a usb flash device
as a primary hard drive?
I have a 512MB flash key that when connected becomes my primary hard
drive (new bios) - 0x80. If I boot a MS-DOS 7.10 floppy, one gets the
command prompt and I can see the contents of my flash key as drive C:.
But, if I make a image of the floppy and boot the image via memdisk,
then memdisk

Boot problem on a P4P800-based computer
Hello all,
I tried sending this message to freebsd-config and freebsd-install,
after subscribing to them, but no one answered back... so I am posting
my question here.
I just downloaded ISO images for 4.8-RELEASE, and prepared them for
installation on an brand new ASUS P4P800-based computer.
More information about this motherboard and integrated peripherals list,

motherboard to use with CentOS 3
I'm about to build a server.
I want to use a P4, and have lotsa RAM, I don't need audio, I do want
to do RAID, but I'll do software RAID if hw isn't available for IDE.
the RH hardware list seems rather woefully out of date, does anyone have
any recommendations for a good motherboard guaranteed to work?
I'm looking at ASUS P4P800-E-deluxe which has a driver on the ASUS

:: BIOS Motherboard Settings ::
I am using an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe which is a motherboard that has been tested
with Asterisk. I am unsure about the PCI slot and IRQ settings in the BIOS
and am having problems with a WCFXO card sharing with other devices. Any
suggestions on the settings required for Asterisk to avoid IRQ conflicts?
Thanks :)

memdisk - reboot loaded image
Is there a method to reboot a memdisk (floppy) image?
I'm working on a DOS-based installation floppy that needs to repartition the hard disk
prior to proceeding. DOS will only recognize the updated partition table after a reboot, but
I'd like to be able to save information to the currently loaded memdisk floppy disk and
simply reboot the image. Possible?
I haven't had any luck with

The semaphore timeout period has expired
Hello Hamish.
I found your message just googling for Suse and sk98lin.
Did you solve your problem?
I had the same case and only way to restore was to change NIS driver speed
settings from AUTO to 10Mb. And it was not related to OS as the same problem
is in WXP ( I have dual boot, ASUS P4P800, integrated GB NIS ).

Laptop+SDMMC+Extlinux+Memdisk+Floppy images=headaches
Hello syslinuxers
I'm stuck with a scientific problem which gives me headaches:
I have a laptop (Gateway MX3410) which has a SD memory card reader.
Recently an interesting thought crossed my mind: why don't I setup
a 2GB SD card as a harddrive and put some rescue tools on it.
So I dug on the net and I came across the idea of using memdisk
to boot floppy images without the need of a

Weird function call problem
Hi,
I'm encountering a very odd problem with calls to anova.mlm() from within a
function.
Consider the following code (data.n is a matrix of numeric values):
mlmfit <- lm(data.n ~ 1)
mlmfit0 <- lm(data.n ~ 0)
print(mlmfit)
anova(mlmfit,mlmfit0,test="Spherical")
If I run it just like this from the console, it works just fine. If,
however, I call it from within a function,

Large files timeout
I am trying to download a 200MB ISO file and each time I attempt to do
so it will timeout after around 30 MB. I've used both a Microsoft and a
FreeBSD tftp client with the same results. When PXE booting a pc and
letting it download the ISO it either hangs halfway through or the ISO
appears to be corrupted when trying to boot to it from ramdisk. I am

managing config changes
Hi,
I am looking for a way, i.e. best practice for managing config changes
safely and efficiently.
Something like clever module organization could certainly help, but I
am looking for something else as well:
Is it possible to set up puppetd in a way, that it just listens and
reports, but does not apply config changes automatically, and in the
same time has the ability to trigger it somehow?

Problems booting msdos with memdisk + syslinux on hp laptops
I have many hp laptops that boot msdos with memdisk + pxelinux
perfectly. However, I recently have the need to usb boot msdos with
syslinux. And memdisk. When the dos Image loads I get
"loading bootsector..." and then it halts. Sometimes I can get
"starting ms-dos" but freezes as well. I'm trying to boot clean msdos
floppy image created with winimage. I'm using

Huynh-Feldt R vs SAS Bug
Hi,
I'm using anova.mlm sphericity tests/corrections, and I'm getting
different values than SAS. In order to be able to use these values for
publications, I'd need to know more about the SAS bug that is mentioned
in the Reference Manual.
- What exactly causes the different values?
- Is it just a slight difference, or can I expect significant
differences in H-F/G-G epsilons and

Memdisk + Loadlin.exe
Can I boot to memdisk using loadlin.exe? I saw that there were references to loadlin in the memdisk init.S (at least in the 2.04 version) so I thought it would be possible. If there's some resource that I can refer to I'd love to know that.

PXE booting
Hi!
I have been using pxelinux with memdisk to boot our workstations with
our custom floppy, which is a MSDOS boot disk (actually it is win98)
On one of the PC's I'm testing, a Fujitsu-Siemens which has an AMDtek
based on-board network card and when PXE is activated,
it gets an IP from the DHCP, then it finds the TFTP server, downloads
pxelinux.0, executes it which causes the floppy to
