Mailing list address harvested for spamming

Lots of posts around about this, all self serving :) There may of course be an RFC floating around, but I admit to never having bothered to look, because good netizens reply to list, lists are public, they

Switching list to subscriber-post only?
Given the recent spam epidemic, I would like to hear people's opinion on switching this list to subscribed-post only (all non-subscribers would have their posts held for moderation.) -hpa

Polling again: switch the list over to subscriber-only?
Traffic on the klibc list has recently been very low, and unfortunately in the meantime, spam has picked up. I'd like to poll the subscribership again if we should switch to subscriber-post-only to curb the spam. -hpa

CentOS mailing list probe message (fwd)
With the latest message I send to the CentOS list I got this strange 'probe' message. The included bounce example has nothing to do with my email-adres, but rather with someone subscribed to the list. So it seems that somehow the mailinglist manager is sending bounces to the wrong email-adres. Or I do not understand the 'probe' message (and the included bounce message) at all.

Mailing List
Dear All, I am using R to do my work and thank you very much for developing, maintaining and making such excellent software available to anyone that is interested enough to ask for it. I have registered at Nabble. I was wondering the right forum for me to send my help request. I have tried sending to R-help at r-project.org. However, I do receive a kind of warning email stating that my email

syslinux-devel mailing list?
I'm wondering if people would think it would be a good thing or bad thing to create a separate mailing list for Syslinux development. We are having a large number of active developers by now, and it would be good to discuss things more explicitly via email, as opposed to IRC, so everyone gets it. However, it's not clear to me if it would be better to just leave it on this mailing list,

Request to mailing list freebsd-security rejected
Umm. First of all, I *AM* a member of this list, unless someone else unsubcribed me. If so, please put me back on. I've gone through my archives and I am very clearly subscribed to the list. The monthly freebsd.org mailing list memberships reminder tells me I am. List Password // URL ---- --------

New Syslinux-commits mailing list
Hi all, I have set up a mailing list that will track all the commits done to the Syslinux git tree. To subscribe, go to: http://www.zytor.com/mailman/listinfo/syslinux-commits This is not a user-postable list; all the contents is automatically generated commit messages. -hpa -- H. C/R system bounce from list subscriber (was: [Fwd: Returned mail: see transcript for details])
mailing list subscription and C/R system mail does not harmonize! Warren - whoever you are - please subscribe with a mail address which accepts delivery without such nasty bounces! Syslinux 3.86 released; Syslinux 4.00 now in beta test
Syslinux 3.86 is out; it is a bug fix release. Syslinux 4.00, starting with Syslinux 4.00-pre38, is now officially in beta test. Special thanks to Intel Corporation, my current employer, for their support for my Syslinux work. Changes in 3.86: * chain.c32: fix chainloading the MBR of a hard disk (broken in 3.85). * mboot.c32: report the boot loader name in the information structure. *

Spam on this list
Hi all, Recently there has been a flurry of spam to this mailing list. I'm considering switching the list to "subscriber post only" as a result. If you send from and receive to different addresses (like I do, for example), you need to subscribe your send-from address as a "no mail" address. Would people object to this scheme? -hpa

FWD: Syslinux post from localpart@domain.tld requires approval
Hello, Usually is it easy to identify a valid non-subscriber-posting. Example given: the four postings about "bugzilla is back" in last day. Today there is a posting from the data plane development kit project, http://dpdk.org/ DPDK is a set of libraries and drivers for fast packet processing. Packets being network packets. That posting is not spam, but it should not go to this
