3Com PXE server
I posted this to the group last year, but the problem was not fixed so I will give it another try. I use 3Com's PXE server to deploy the Fedora Core boot disk to my clients for an ftp install. I also have ghost boot disks, bios update disks, and a video bios repair disk all using the 3Com PXE server. The problem is when I try to boot a Linux kernel. With all versions of syslinux since 1.72

Memdisk and USB Floppy
I just wanted to chime in and mention that I'm running into the problem with getting a "Non-system disk..." error on a system using a USB floppy when the floppy is not attached when I try to boot the system over the network using memdisk to boot a floppy image. Its actually fairly important to be able to do this, as the architecture of the hardware that I'm working with utilizes

syslinux booting problem with 3Com PXE server
I use 3Com's PXE server to deploy the RedHat Linux network boot disk for an ftp install. I have done this for RedHat 7.2 and 7.3. I followed the same procedure I used for the other RedHat boot disks using the RedHat 8.0 boot disk and syslinux didn't work. Syslinux boots the system, gets the boot: prompt and dies. The error message is can not find ramdisk image and then cannot find

PXELINUX v. bpbatch
What is the difference between PXELINUX and bpbatch ? AFAICT, bpbatch doe not require a TFTP server which supports the 'tsize' option. So in the absence of such a server, I may need to explore bpbatch... It seems that bpbatch can be used to remotely boot DOS. Can PXELINUX also do this? -- John

booting memtest86 with syslinux
I'm building a custom bootdisk that I would like to boot linux or boot memtest86 (www.memtest86.com). And I'm running into some difficulties with recent versions of syslinux. All I'm doing is making a new label in syslinux.cfg called memtest and giving it kernel memtest.bin. This has worked on and off for several recent versions of memtest. It worked in 1.67, broke in 1.70(loads

Bootloader chaining
I've been trying to make up for a mismatch in functionality between bpbatch and pxelinux by trying to use both depending what I'm trying to do by chain booting the two. I'm able to chain boot in either direction, either pxelinux then bpbatch or bpbatch then pxelinux, but once I've done this, and boot either Linux or DOS, I find the adapter I used to network boot is not detected by

Disk preparation
I'm trying to move off of bpbatch and on to pxelinux (bpbatch doesn't boot the installation kernels for SuSE 8.1 and SLES 8--they appear to be too big). This has been a pretty easy transition, except for the fact that I'm using bpbatch to install Windows 2000 over the network as well as Linux. For Windows 2000 I use a DOS boot diskette with network drivers and run the 16-bit WINNT.EXE

Menu files Re: pxegrub + memdisk + dos + undi
....."We are looking at Argon, they seem to have the best menu system. The sad thing is, they dont support alot of our image types, we will use their menu system to select pxelinux which will do all the real work. So, they get the money just because they have a menu system, and pxelinux does most of the work. Another negative is the configuration is all done through a bad windows GUI."

bug (I think) in gpxelinux.0 ?
Hi, Currently I am building a new PXE boot environment and during that I noticed something odd while attempting to boot using one of those universal netbootdisks based on the '3Com Universal NDIS driver v1.00' (aka undis3c) driver. Using pxelinux.0 this works like a charm, but when I switch to gpxelinux.0 the 3Com driver bails out on me... all other configuration is the same. Have

Slow perl on CentOS - ActivePerl as a solution
Hi all, I found out that one of my perl scripts is heavily affected by the current bug. I was lazy to compile anything and I didn't want to mess up my system doing some experiments, so I tried to install ActivePerl as a temporary solution instead (RPMs are available). ActivePerl 5.8 is approximately 73x faster that CentOS version and ActivePerl 5.10 even slightly faster. Both versions and

having problems with Argon
Hello everyone. I'm close to completing my first build of a mail server - Postfix, Dovecot, Postgres (I know, sounds like overkill), Rspamd with Redis and Unbound (please infer a mega lack of experience disclaimer). The model is standalone internet with remoted sasl-authenticated clients. Throughout the process I've been having consistent problems with user password authentication.

Pb: browsing list
Hello, I wanted to view a AIX box as a WinNT box, so I downloaded the file samba-1.9.17p3.aix-3.2.5.tar.gz to install samba on the unix machine (IBM RS6000). It runs AIX Version 3. My client machine runs WinNT 4.00.1381 (x86 Family 6 Model 1 Stepping6). Samba is now installed on /usr2/local/samba. There are some symbolic links on /usr/local/samba that point to the corresponding files in

keeppxe+memdisk+FreeDOS example?
Hi, I'm trying to get the above working, without success so far: UNDIS.DOS refuses to load with an invalid NDIS stack message (from memory). keeppxe has some effect: it reduces the available conventional memory by 140 kbytes or so... still, the packet driver doesn't seem to find the interface. Does anybody have a working setup I could look at? -- Thanks, Feri.

Selecting hard disk boot when running syslinux from floppy
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to have the option to boot from hard disk when syslinux loads from floppy. Basicly I'm trying to create a boot disk which gives me the option to boot from hard disk, possibly after 5 seconds incase I leave the floppy in by mistake. The systems I would be using this floppy on would be running Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and possibly RedHat Linux 7.2.

Cisco 7960G w/ SIP not working properly
I have Asterisk version 1.0-RC1 running on Debian Woody. I have 1 analog phone working, 2 inbound lines working, X-Lite is working. The problem that I am having is with Cisco 7960 with SIP version 7.2 software. I can make outbound calls and they work fine, I even get a notice that I have voice mail on the phone and it seems to register properly but I can seem to dial to the phone.
