FW: How to delay before mounting root filesystem
yup runned it. probably something wrong with my initrd filesystem. can
you send me a directory listing of your initrd? and probably a sample
linuxrc.
if worse comes to worse, i'll probably load my usb and scsi modules in the
initrd.
i'm probably doing it all wrong. i'm trying to imitate the slackware10usb
way of booting up. every driver built in the kernel, patch on the mounting

How to delay before mounting root filesystem
Got to minimize (barely) my filesystem and kernel and fit it into
my usb key (256mb)
My kernel was compiles with scsi and usb support built-in. My problem
now is i can't mount my root filesystem when i tried to boot. kernel
somehow takes time before being able to recognize my usb as a
valid scsi device thus displaying
VFS: Cannot open root device 08:01
this is my lilo.conf

Strange bug using runt with rails
Hi all,
I''m trying to include the ''runt'' gem (http://runt.rubyforge.org/) in
my Rails project. I''ve tried a few ways of doing this. I''ve tried
installing runt using ''gem install runt'' and then trying to do
"require ''runt''" in my environment.rb, and I''ve also tried using the

Runt Recurring events
I am planning on using Runt to calculate recurring events. I
calculate a Runt object in the view and use it to see if it includes a
certain date, which is populates from the database, and display the
info for that date if it is included. I have recurring events for
every week, which was pretty easy to set up. I can just say:
r = Runt::DIWeek.new(4)
For a recurring event every Thursday, and

[PATCH v3] virtio_blk: unlock vblk->lock during kick
Holding the vblk->lock across kick causes poor scalability in SMP
guests. If one CPU is doing virtqueue kick and another CPU touches the
vblk->lock it will have to spin until virtqueue kick completes.
This patch reduces system% CPU utilization in SMP guests that are
running multithreaded I/O-bound workloads. The improvements are small
but show as iops and SMP are increased.

Using a lib in YAML fixtures
I''m using the runt library [1] to do some temporal expression
matching. I want to keep the expression in a binary field in my db.
I figured that then in order to do the fixtures, I''d need to do some
erb in the yaml file. So I came up with this:
onetime:
id: 1
name: One Time
description: This event occurs only one time.
timex: <%= REYear.new(7) & REMonth.new(24)

Icecast locks with WARN connection/_accept_connection accept() failed with error 24: Too many open files
My icecast server has been running happily for months now, but just
yesterday it locked up, chewing up all the cpu time it could find, and
not allowing connections. The last snippet of the error log shows this:
[2005-06-01 09:36:13] WARN connection/_accept_connection accept()
failed with error 24: Too many open files
[2005-06-01 09:36:15] WARN connection/_accept_connection accept()

Samba 3.0.3 on FC2: windows machine cannot join domain
I'm using Samba 3.0.3 on Fedora Core 2 with OpenLDAP 2.1.29 for a
backend. I'm getting to typical "The user name could not be found."
error upon trying to join a Windows box. I've gone through every digest
on lists.samba.org and other sites and nothing has worked yet. Any
suggestions:
Here's what I've done so far:
1. Installed everything via RPMS:

Thanks. I'll have to try that. I wonder why ezstream would ever stop
sending data for that long though. What version of ezstream are you
running?

Re: Samba 3.0.3 on FC2: windows machine cannot join domain
After, oh, six months of attempts here and there to read everyone's
experiences with Samba/LDAP and inability for a windows 2000/XP machine
to join the domain, I finally discovered what was not working properly.
In my smb.conf I put:
add machine script = /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w "%u"
As instructed by many How-to's and Idealx. However, I thought to myself,

elflink: STORAGE_DEVICE_NUMBER proposal
(I realize this may get delayed)
Per a2fd4f6, the mingw environment should provide a typedef for
STORAGE_DEVICE_NUMBER. However, several are known to not provide
this. If it exists, that .definition is preferable to one we may
create. As a result, a solution should be found for the broken
compilers.
I have a proposal for a solution that while not elegant does achieve this task:

Dummy question on Syslinux and MBR
Hi,
I've seen that syslinux does include also a MBR record.
But how can I install it on a HD under Windows? And how can I backup the
previous MBR?
Does syslinux help us on this task also?
bye!

Using Runt with Rails Tutorial or Helpers?
I''m working on a project that has event scheduling and I need to get
date recurrence going on it. I found the Runt library which looks like
it has pretty much everything handled, but I was wondering if there are
any tutorials out there for using Runt with Rails, or better yet some
helpers or a plugin for it. I tried searching through the mailing list
archives, but searching is down

yam at ftp.linux.ncsu.edu
I had yam working with ncsu.edu until the things changed when centos
seperated the two projects.
Now I can't get it to work. This is what I am trying to use but it says
"nothing to do".
updates = rsync://ftp.linux.ncsu.edu/centos/$release/$repo/$arch/RPMS/
This with gatech on the other hand works but they have a 20 connection
limit so I would like to
get ncsu.esu working again.

listener authentication for multiple mountpoints; client connections seems high
Two quick questions:
1. Is it ok to use the same password file for multiple mountpoints, or
will that cause problems?
2. Why would my clients number 113 larger than my number of listeners?
It was right earlier today, but when I restarted the sources it
increased by 113, and it has stayed that high since then. I find it
especially odd since I have clients set to 100 in icecast.xml, and
