OpenBSD TFTPD remap rules
Hi! I am using OpenBSD 4.4 with the build-in TFTP-Daemon for PXE. Distributing OpenBSD works fine. Now I want to distribute OpenBSD and WinPE. I've installed PXELinux 3.72 and configured it. Works also fine for PXELinux and distributing OpenBSD. To distribute WinPE I need a remap rule (\ -> /) for the TFTP-Daemon. I've created a file /etc/tftpd.remap with the following rule: rgG \\ /

USB Boot WinPE 2.0 via syslinux
Hello all, I'm booting for 1 year WinPE 2.0 and floppy disk images via PXE (pxelinux) and this works very well. I also want my floppy disk images and WinPE 2.0 on a bootable USB Stick. So i format my usb stick with fat16 and use Syslinux to make it bootable. I can now boot from stick and execute the floppy disk images. This works very well. But how can i add WinPE 2.0 booting support ? I

SYSLINUX-3.52-pre5: XP BOOTSEC.BIN Bug
I just encountered my only bug w/ the ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combination from 3.52-pre5. Updated a *working* CD project w/ the new ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combo just last week. Booting my preferred Linux distro (Slax-6) from my custom CDs work perfectly, however when I updated a CD project that includes BartPE/WinPE, BartPE fails to boot w/ 'CDBoot can not boot CD: error 4" msg. tftpd-hpa: remap '/tftpboot/ncd4/foo' into 'ncd4/foo'
Hello, This about remapping in the HPA tftp server. A client does request for '/tftpboot/ncd4/foo' which should be 'ncd4/foo' I have created a remap file that looks now like this: r tftpboot/ncd4/modshmx/login.hmx ncd4/modshmx/login.hmx r tftpboot/ncd4/modshmx/setup.hmx ncd4/modshmx/setup.hmx r tftpboot/ncd4/modshmx/term.hmx ncd4/modshmx/term.hmx Because r

FW: pxelinux and bar
Have a look at the 911cd forums. I wrote the initial thread on RAM booting WinPE. To answer to question... memdisk won't work with Windows. Windows uses 32bit access (direct HW access) and memdisk relies on the BIOS. Any programs that don't use the BIOS disk interfaces will not work. The other problem is the allocation of memory. Windows doesn't respect the memdisk allocation.

tftpd-hpa filename remapping
I cannot seem to get the remap-file function of tftpd working right. I can sucessfully place files on the server but the remap feature is not working. I look in the logfile and it has an entry in there for tftpd. remap: input: startup-config Jan 13 21:47:50 proxy in.tftpd[25438]: remap: done Jan 13 21:47:50 proxy in.tftpd[25438]: RRQ from 192.168.0.12 filename startup-config I think that I

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA, I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and 3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work fine with the same config. The error message I get is: ================================================================ IOSLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. tftpd-hpa issue: I think, anyway
I have spent the last two hours on this issue. I think there's a problem with tftp-hpa. Setup: attempting to use Debian FAI, but there is definitely a problem with PXELINUX. pxelinux.0 is obviously being loaded by clients, but *nothing* in the pxelinux.cfg directory can be loaded. Clients sit and spin on their MAC files and when they get to default nothing happens. This is

tftpd-hpa: the tftpdir is ignored if --secure isn't used
If I omit --secure from the tftpd-hpa command line, I then need to e.g. `tftp -c get /var/lib/tftpboot/vmlinuz` instead of plain /vmlinuz, even though I pass /var/lib/tftpboot as the tftp dir in the tftpd-hpa command line. That essentially means that I'm exporting my whole /, which is clearly something I don't want to do. I basically want tftpd-hpa to serve files from /var/lib/tftpboot

pxelinux and bar
Has anyone been able to boot a bartpe image successfully using pxelinux or does anyone know if this is impossible? For those who don't know, bartpe is a legitimate way to make a trimmed down installation of Windows XP or Server 2003 using your installation media. For more information on bartpe see: http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder Basically the pebuilder gathers the minimum files needed to

Can't get hpa-tftpd working on Slackware 9.1
Hi, I have a question on tftpd on Slackware - I know this is an embedded Linux forum, but I think it still must be the appropriate place to ask. I have hpa-tftpd V0.40 on Slackware 9.1. No matter what I do, I can't get files transferred to the tftp server. I just get timeouts - no messages in /var/log/messages or in /var/log/syslog - just dealthly silence. This is the configuration line

tftpd-hpa
Hello, I need help in setting up tftpd-hpa to send a kernel to a client, on a debian woody installation. I did manage the feat when using tftpd to send a kernel to a client which had a separate network interface card, but I would like to do it with integrated LAN. Trials with tftpd failed with error messages starting with 'PXE', and later I learned that tftpd-hpa is needed for the PXE

syslinux -> Windows 2008R2
Hello, I'm trying to use a current Syslinux setup, that is working well for service linux based distros, to serve up recent Windows server installs. As I'm new here I'm reluctant to make any changes to the environment unless I've exhausted the current options. We are running Syslinux 3.71 on a Gentoo server and all the DHCP and tftpd are "working as they should". What

Need help chainloading from isolinux.
i am trying to use chain.c32 with isolinux to load WinPE/BartPE/etc and I can not get it to work. I have tried with the simple.c32, and just from the isolinux prompt. I have tried 3.32-pre6, 3.20, and jumped back and tried 3.08. All configurations fail with 'Cannot read Master Boot Record'. The boot sectors are known to be good, and are known to work with chain.c32 with pxelinux.

Spybot Search and Destroy
Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my post. I am using ubuntu 8.04 DRBL in an IT setting that has wine 1.1.16 installed with Spybot S&D. We use it to PXE boot virus-infected computers to scan them without threatening a real installation, and without the hassle of live-cds. Spybot has a switch (/allhives) that detects multiple windows installations for scanning, and the switch

Making tftpd (hpa) firewall frienldy
Hello all, Tested on linux 2.6.18 (Centos5) and FreeBSD 7.0. You would execute it like below (which basically makes tftp reply back with same port is listening on ) tftpd --port-range 69:69 -4 -s /tftpboot/ --- tftp-hpa-0.49/tftpd/tftpd.c 2008-10-21 01:08:31.000000000 +0300 +++ tftp-hpa-0.49-tftpd-reuseport.c 2010-03-03 15:19:26.000000000 +0200 @@ -524,6 +524,11 @@ #ifndef __CYGWIN__

Different tftp directories
We use pxelinux and tfp-ha for windows installation together with winpe 2005 under linux. It works and we are happy. But we have one problem because we want to add one more image for xp pro x64 too. Since there is already a ntdetect.com, NTLDR and winnt.sif in the /tftpboot root directory we can't add the 64 bit ones. It's no problem to use different startrom.0 files since I can specify

PXELINUX directory problem
I'm trying to boot multiple ISO files with pxelinux. Booting a single ISO file works, but if I put them in different sub directories it no longer works. I'm using the windows2003 sp1 trick to load my iso's (bartpe, winpe, erd commander, etc) pxelinux.0 gives me a menu: PROMPT 1 DEFAULT hdd TIMEOUT 100 DISPLAY PXE.MSG LABEL hdd LOCALBOOT 0 LABEL bartpe KERNEL
