hi:
we can create big floopy image under linux. just use mtools.
i edit /etc/mtools.conf, then use dd to create a emtpy image, then use
mformat to format the image and make it bootable.
i now use a 20MB floppy image with memdisk.

Can I do this ?
Dear Sir,
I am trying to create a multiboot cd that will supposr the following:
1. Linux RedHat 7.2
2. Windows 2000 Professional
3. Windows 2000 Server
4. Windows 2000 Advanced Server
I get it right, but to have the Linux image on the same cd and to boot from it is
a problem.
Here's what I did:
First I created a bootable cd with the windows images and used the El-Torito standard

memtest86 problem
Hi!
At first thanks for your great work!
I started to make multiboot CDs 1,5 years ago, with Bart Lagerweij 's utils. I have a problem with the memtest86 floppy image, made by the authors in the .zip file, downloadable from it's homepage, when I use diskemu. Some days ago I found on Bart's page a new method to select boot images on CD with syslinux/isolinux/memdisk. I thought this is

isolinux - memdisk - thanks!
Hi Peter,
You did a great job on the isolinux and memdisk tools..
I can know, I've also written a CD-Rom disk emulator, only it's slow (read
from the CD) uses 22KB conventional memory (mainly cache) and the emulated
floppy image cannot be written to. http://www.nu2.nu/diskemu/
You're memdisk is fast, small conventional memory footprint and the emulated
drive is writeable, very,

isolinux 1.74, 1.75pre2 - cannot load NT cdrom bootsectors...
Hi,
I've coded loading NT cdrom bootsector into isolinux 1.68 myself
(http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk) and I now see you have included it
in isolinux 1.73 and higher. Great!!!
I tried it using isolinux 1.74 and 1.75pre2, but I cannot get it to work.
It says:

Loading
Invalid or corrupt kernel image.

I use the file extension ".bin" as I see in the isolinux.asm source,

ghost 8.x and newer
Hi all,
I love syslinux!! It works great.
Problem. GHost 8.x and higher... With ghost 7.5 and earlier I was able to
boot floppy images from my tftp server.
But as you all know Ghost 8.x and higher had a bloated ghost.exe that does
not fit on a single 1.44mb floopy image file.
Has any one had any luck in getting ghost 8.x and higher to work with
syslinux and memdisk? I have tried to create over

"disk" option in hvm config file
Hi,
Does Xen HVM support the the "disk" option that can attach a FAT partion or
a floppy image like the qemu? In qemu, we can do it with the option "-hda
fat:/root/tmp/" and "-fda /root/floopy.img". Any reply is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bei Guan

isolinux.asm - improving spec_query_failed routine...
Hi Peter,
I noticed in your isolinux.asm code,
when loading spec packet fails you are trying to wing it, in other word,
loop the drive numbers from 0xff through 0x80 until the booted drive number
is found...
I write software that also "wings it".
Recently I had to create some "wird" workarounds because of bad bios in some
Dell and Compaq PC's.

about pxe booting, no boot filename found
hello,
I have a problem about pxe booting.
I have two isolated machines, one(server) has got dhcp and tftp servers
working correctly ( I am pretty confident with this). The other machine
(client) using floopy to boot with pxe-request. The problem is, the client
cannot get the bootfile("/tftpboot/pxelinux.0"), it always report no boot
filename found. I also found the IP address, which

some tool/utility only has dos version. if you want to input/output
something to dos, then samba is the best partner. you won't want
usb-disk or floopy under dos. BTW, dos has universal storage

alternatives to memdisk for use with pxelinux?
First off, Thank you for pxelinux. It works as expected and for my needs it
is a most useful project.
I apologize in advance for posting this question as it is in part off topic,
but I have searched extensively with little results.
Are there any alternatives to memdisk for use with pxelinux for booting
troublesome floppy images with such applications that fail to use INT 15h,

"Vixen" HVM shim package available in virt-xen-testing
To install the package:
yum --enablerepo=virt-xen-VV-testing xen-vixen
Where VV is '44', '46', or '48', depending on which version you're
using. (It's the same package for all versions.)
This will install the xen-vixen "shim" binary, as well as the
pvshim-converter script.
See XSA-254 [1] for detailed information about who should use it, why,

Creating floppy image without root permissions?
Hello All:
I've recently had to provision some RHEL and CentOS VMWare
instances. There was no network connectivity so I had to use a
kickstart floppy and DVD iso rather than installing from our
repository. To create the floppy I used the following:
As root:
dd if=/dev/zero of=floppy.flp bs=1k count=360
mkfs.vfat floppy.flp
mount -o loop floppy.flp /mnt/floppy
cp base_kickstart.ks

isolinux 1.67
Hi,
I've made some (small) changes to your isolinux 1.67 to support loading of
.bin files. For example to load NT cdrom bootsectors, or other raw
loaders... Size is fixed to 1 sector (2KB). Extension must be ".bin".
Loading address is fixed to (default) 0x0:0x7c00. All my changes are marked
