high kworker CPU usage in 3.10.0-957 w/ Xorg nouveau driver?
Hi all,
I have a number of Gnome/X desktop workstations with NVidia GeForce GT
1030 adapters, dual monitors, Core I7 3770 quad-core hyper-threaded
CPUs, with 32GB of RAM. Most (haven't checked them all yet) are
exhibiting problems that include significant sluggish-ness with mouse
movement and typing as well as screen rendering problems happening

high cpu usage of rsync process - sometimes (extremely wired)
Hello,
i have two clients (c1 and c2) with 100% same hard- and software and
also two servers (s1 and s2) with 100% same hard- and software. The
servers run "rsync --daemon", the clients start rsync periodically to
syncronize a directory with them, where c1 syncs with s1 and c2 with
s2. The directories are the same on s1 and s2!

unkillable imap process(es) with high CPU-usage
Hello,
I am having a problem with my dovecot-daemon. It is forking one or more
(I saw up to perhaps 8 of them) imap processes under my user name. These
processes are consuming a lot of CPU time and are not killable:

tinc memory usage very high for some instances
------- TL;DR -------
Many of the tinc daemons in a large (~50 node) tinc network tend to hog
a lot of memory (>100MB). None of our smaller tinc networks do this.
As to which nodes use a lot of memory, I could not find a
distinguishing factor: tinc version, OS version, kernel version,
being included in ConnectTo and tinc traffic seem all not to determine
memory consumption.

allocation error and high CPU usage from kworker and migration: memory fragmentation?
Hi,
I'm new to this list (and R), but my impression is that this question is
more appropriate here than R-help. I hope that is right.
I'm having several issues with the performance of an R script.
Occasionally it crashes with the well-known 'Error: cannot allocate
vector of size X' (this past time it was 4.8 Gb). When it doesn't crash,
CPU usage frequently drops quite low

High CPU usage smbd processes and PANIC
Hello
I recently deployed a Samba 4.0.21 running as classic pdc on freebsd 10 version RELEASE-p9, most of shares are in a ZFS volume with vfs_zfsacl module, some smbd processes stays constantly with around 70% cpu usage sometimes 90% and dies with signal 11 according the log message , i also tried enable debug level 10 but didn't show anything helpful or maybe i wasn't able to

High CPU usage
The below seems to give me several minutes of 15-60% cpu usage. As far as
I can tell there doesn''t seem to be anything really wrong with my
configuration.
Anyone have any idea why this might be the case? I also get about 6%
memory usage.
This is a 3.0 ghz Xeon with 2 gigs of memory.

HVM guest high CPU usage
I have couple of HVM guests on xen 3.2. When guests boot, qemu-dm uses alot
of cpu for approx 20 minutes post boot then load drops to average 0.50. I
did some debugging and see this is going on, I suspect display output is
using the CPU. Disabling VNC and SDL didn''t help with the CPU usage. any
ideas how to reduce the cpu or stop it all together?
My setup is as following:

find thread that is causing high cpu usage
Hello,
Using one of Brendan''s dtrace script prusage and prstat, I was able to find the process that is consuming high cpu. I also have a test case that can trigger this high cpu usage.
Questions are
a) how do I proceed from here?
b) how do I figure out which thread is using this high cpu?
c) how do I figure out which piece of code is causing this problem?
Thanks

high CPU usage with TAR files
I am trying to use rsync to backup our Linux server and when the rsync is running it uses 1-2% CPU for most operations until it reaches a tar file (or another file archive), then the CPU usage increases to 90%. I am assuming that rsync is looking at the individual files in the tar archive and seeing if any have changed instead of looking at the mod time and file size. I'm sure this is a

BUG (?) High CPU usage in samba-2.2-cvs
The setup:
Downloaded from samba-2.2 branch of
cvs as of 9 okt. (also tried 2.okt)
installed on a redhat 7.1 2.4.7 i386 system
The problem:
the smbd process serving a NT 4.0sp6
workstation uses 80+ % cpu
smbstatus reveals that the pid is attached as
"smbguest" to the IPC$ share.
The workstation has opened up another IPC
connection at this point.

High residual CPU usage after hangup
I have an extension.conf which calls a sip phone and the console in
parallel.
exten => _1${EXT_BARRY},1,Dial,sip/${EXT_BARRY}&Console/dsp
This is done to use the console speaker as a load ringer for extension
${EXT_BARRY}
The process works, but while the call to Barry is active, and after its
completion, one process starts using about 99% of the CPU. I watch CPU

asterisk 1.6 - 511 Command not permitted causing high CPU usage
http://pastebin.com/vxGM2n5j
We are getting those errors 100x per second in console when AGI set debug is
on....
It is causing extremely high CPU usage, we've tried asterisk version
1.6.1.22 and 1.6.2.18
It seems the problem is worse in 1.6.2.18
Can someone advise how to fix this? Thank you.

Asterisk consuming high cpu usage
Hi,
I have been using asterisk 10.0.1 for 8 months and now I have updated it to
12.6.0. I have not made much changes in conf files.
I am seeing continues warnings saying
"Can't send 10 type frames with SIP/Gtalk write" on console. Which I had
never seen in the previous version.
I have seen compared chan_sip.c from both versions and It seems 12.6.0 is
also made to support all the

Temple of elemental evil - high CPU usage by X/ToEE
I installed ToEE under wine 0.9.42 and used ToEE noCD "patch" to make
it working but the problem is it's very slow. top says X is using 95%
of CPU and ToEE.exe 4,7% - 2 biggest processes.

glmark2: high CPU usage - DRI3 & modeset
did the test result changed in any way? Maybe the DRI2 run was vsynced and the
DRI3 not?
Nouveau has a pretty high cpu usage in general, because it usually busy waits on
fences (I think? not sure where it was exactly that nouveau is busy waiting)
