Is there something wrong with R version 3.0.2 (2013-09-25) -- "Frisbee Sailing"?
Hi, pnorm(-1.53,0,1) under version 3.0.2 gives 0.05155075. I am pretty sure it should be 0.063. Is there something wrong with this version of R? I am using: R version 3.0.2 (2013-09-25) -- "Frisbee Sailing" Copyright (C) 2013 The R Foundation for Statistical Computing Platform: i686-pc-linux-gnu (32-bit) -- Tom [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

problem with ldpaths
I've just installed r-base (several times!) using the instructions at http://cran.us.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/ and for some reason it is not creating a /etc/R/ldpaths file. I've tried a few times, tried purging, and removing everything in /etc/R and /usr/lib/R as suggested by Dirk, and reinstalling but still get $ R /usr/bin/R: line 236: /usr/lib/R/etc/ldpaths: No such file

R string comparisons may vary with platform (plain text)
A colleague?s R program behaved differently when I ran it, and we thought we traced it probably to different results from string comparisons as below, with different R versions. However the platforms also differed. A friend ran it on a few machines and found that the comparison behavior didn?t correlate with R version, but rather with platform. I wonder if you?ve seen this. If it?s not some

Context: launching FreeBSD "pxeboot" from PXELINUX is the Very L ast Bug.
Hello... Last week I demonstrated a problem with PXELINUX's ability to launch the FreeBSD "pxeboot" program. Mr. Anvin suggests that this can be fixed. I'm glad, because this PXELINUX/pxeboot problem is the very last technical issue for a project on which I've been working since September. My company has a proprietary disk-imaging system that they would like to replace.

syslinux and btrfs-formatted dos/MBR partition
Hello syslinux list, I have installed Arch over a btrfs-formatted dos/MBR primary partition* (no btrfs subvolumes, just installing everything including /boot in the root of the btrfs). I have been unsuccessful for several days trying to get it to boot with syslinux (6.02-8 package from Arch, also tried 4.07-1 Arch package). All I am getting is the copyright header line and a blinking cursor

syslinux and btrfs-formatted dos/MBR partition
Hello Gene, thanks for your reply. Yes BIOS mode. The config wants a menu, which loads fine under ext4 and not under btrfs. Under btrfs I have also tried to remove the syslinux.cfg file altogether (which should trigger the boot: prompt if I am not mistaken) and the result is the same: only the copyright line appears and no prompt. The three letter sequence is EDD. The disk is 160GB, here is the

Samba, DOS partition Or Size Problem? - - "Can't write" problem from Newbie
Dear Samba Team, I just set up the Samba server and successfully let the Windows Clients access/read/write on their 'homes' directories. (security in 'User' mode) I also mount in the linux some DOS partitions, & set the default user/group, etc. My Windows clients/user can successfully Access/Read/Write there through the samba server. However, in one occassion, I find i

syslinux and btrfs-formatted dos/MBR partition
For the MBR: I usually don't touch the Microsoft MBR and chainload Linux from the Microsoft bootloader. However while trying to get my btrfs setup to work, I backed up the Microsoft MBR (dd if=/dev/sda bs=440 count=1 of=MBRbackup.bin) and I installed the syslinux MBR. I tried several ways: - with the script provided by Arch: syslinux-install_update -i -a -m - manual method with mbr.bin (first

help - I think partition magic just clobbered me.
I have(had) redhat 7.2 installed along with win 98. my latest kernel appeared to be working fine. the /boot and / partition were set up as ext3. I had it running for over a week, before booting back to win 98. while running under win 98 I started partition magic 7.0, which claims to know about ext2 partitions. It gave me the same error twice, I unfortunate did not note the error at the time. it

S4 method for '[' with extra arguments: distinguishing between x[i] and x[i, ]
Hi, I want to implement a '[' for an S4 class, that behaves differently when called with a single index argument or multiple indexes (possibly missing), like what happens when subsetting matrices x[i] vs. x[i, ]. I manage to do it using nargs() and checking if drop is missing (see code below), but when I want to add an extra argument to the method (before drop), then the parent call
