booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo,
I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work
completely.
Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works
too.
But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with
the file "extract.com", and that step fails.
Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem?

Questions about setup
I have worked in IT for several years and programming or anything related to
this is not exactly one of my strengths. I need help creating a vesamenu..
Im trying to setup up so I can access my Acronis backup and disaster
recovery 10 server, knoppix live cd, hardware diagnostics - pcdoctor and
maybe a hiren type boot cd. I checked the Linux irc channel which I guess is
now abandoned. If anyone

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of
your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition
live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out.
The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am
quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate

Well I did it...
I dont know if this will be of any interest to you guys.
I have a lexar 1GB flash drive.
I used the mkdiskimage script and then did
syslinux as described in the readme.usbkey.
(the script took a REALLY long time too)
I booted into 3.7 knoppix. Copied all the directories
onto the key. Then copied the contents of the /boot dir into
the root dir. I renamed isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg

Problem with 90MB Initrd
Hi,
I am currently trying to replace our companies elilo UEFI PXE boot with
syslinux.
I compiled all the needed files and the DHCP distributes them fine to
the requesting client.
However when I try to boot our companies miniroot the DHCP serves the
file, but it seems like it never finishes.
The image is generated with the following command:
find . | grep -v 'name'.bz2 | cpio -o -H newc

Using pxelinux mboot.c32 to multiboot Solaris
Hi All,
Now that we have multiboot capable pxelinux, thanks to mboot.c32,
I decided to try and remove pxegrub from my x86 jumpstart infrastructure
since, in theory, pxelinux can now do it all.
The problem I'm having is I'm not very sure I'm following Tim's documentation
correctly... I'm not 100% what comes after the --- and whether the Sun kernel
needs it's arguments

Assertion raised during zfs share?
Working to get ZFS to run on a minimal Solaris 10 U2 configuration. In
this scenario, ZFS is included the miniroot which is booted into RAM.
When trying to share one of the filesystems, an assertion is raised -
see below. If the version of source on OpenSolaris.org matches
Solaris 10 U2, then it looks like it''s associated with a popen of
/usr/sbin/share. Can anyone shed any

Solaris / OpenSolaris
I'm having some difficulties pxe booting Solaris. So far I have tried
the mboot.c32, and the pxegrub shipped with Solaris. At first I had some
problems with blksize, but this disapeared when I changed from atftpd to
tftpd-hpa. The point at which I'm stuck now is, the kernel and
x86.microroot/x86.miniroot is loaded but then VMWare crashes. I might
try with real hardware, but I thought

Problems mounting ZFS after install
Let me thank everyone in advance. I''ve read a number of posts here and it helped tremendously in getting the install done. I have a couple of remaining issues which I can''t seem to overcome. Here are the basics:

Xen 3.2.1 compiles from source
domU - os200805.iso

Using pxelinux mboot.c32 to jumpstart a Solaris host
Hi all,
I'm trying to use mboot.c32 to build our Solaris machines but the problem we are getting is the network interface doesn't get configured. It would boot in to the miniroot and then drops in to a shell. At the shell, if I configure the interface via dhcp it would continue on with the jumpstart.
This is the first time we are using syslinux (version 4.04) and looking at the

The used TFTPD works fine with BIOS machines.
