tftp-hpa loads but stalls
Hello, I am attempting pxelinux via dhcpd/tftpd. If I use the system default tftpd daemon, then pxelinux loads but then complains about the tsize option. I've downloaded tftp-hpa-0.34, compiled and installed. I also edited inetd.conf according to README.security and then reloaded inetd. /tftpboot directory and all files and directories have nobody:nobody for permissions with at least read

leaving ports open for tftp
hey guys, I have a really silly question for you! I just built a cobbler server that I am using to bare metal some boxes. But I am a bit n00b and need to figure out which ports to open in iptables. Here's a start: xinetd 2031 root 8u IPv4 94306 UDP *:tftp in.tftpd 9203 root cwd DIR 253,0 4096 588097 /tftpboot

tftp server error
I have got a Solaris 9 package build from the latest tftp software at ftp.kernel.org. When I do the following: ./in.tftpd -l -s /tftpboot -m /tftprules -v The tftp server does not start. The error in /var/adm/messages is "too many -s directories". If i do ./in.tftpd -l -s /tftpboot -v then it works fine. But i need remap feature for my project. The message I get when i do

tftp problems
I've used TFTP server on CentOS/RHEL 7 and 8 but not 9, so take my notes with the appropriate grain of salt... JIC, confirm on the TFTP server you have a process socket for it, e.g. $ netstat -a | grep tftp udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:tftp 0.0.0.0:* Your 'systemctl status' output implies things are OK, but worth a check. I don't see a "tftpboot" symlink

TFTP problems on FC4
Greetings to all. I am hoping someone can help me out with a problem I am having getting my Cisco phones, 7960s and 7940s, to download the appropriate files from our TFTP server. The TFTP server is running on Fedora Core 4. The TFTP server appears to be setup properly: service tftp { socket_type = dgram protocol = udp wait =

building hpa tftp under cygwin?
First- I'm admittedly a newbie both to the cygwin environment and to the hpa tftp. My apologies if this is the wrong list to ask this question. If so, slap me around a little.... I tried to build tftp-hpa under cygwin. The 0.37 version throws errors during the ./configure process, warning about winsock2.h and winsock.h being present but not buildable. The 0.36 version appears to

TFTP forking thousands of processes
Hi, I'm trying to debug crashing server, and I'm starting to suspect tftp server as one of possible culprits. The box is quad core Xeon with 4GB of memory serving as Asterisk PBX + some additional services (reporting, IS integration etc). Among others, it's also serving as provisioning box for over hundred of SPA504 phones. Phones are checking configuration files every 60s meaning

tftp trouble
I am trying to tftp from a cisco router on my lan, but it is not working. All I see are these errors in the log. I can "tftp localhost" without a problem as well. Any suggestions on what I can check next? I don't see too much troubleshooting available search via google. Thanks. tftp-hpa 0.28, 0.29 interoperability problem
Hi, I have a tftp client which loads quite happily from a tftpd built from netkit-tftp-0.16 but which fails to load from from a tftpd built from tftp-hpa 0.29. In both cases, tftpd was built from pristine sources and run from xinetd under Redhat 7.3. [netkit-tftp-0.16 is the ancestor of tftp-hpa, predating HPA's maintenance of same] [the tftp client also.. .. fails with the prebuilt tftpd

3.86-pre1 gpxelinux.0 SIS900 long boot time / fails to boot / no entries in tftp server log
Okay guys, This is separate from my last few messages. Along with those attempts, I decided to migrate from pxelinux.0 to gpxelinux.0 in my existing setup. Admittedly I haven't tried previous gpxelinux.0's but I am willing to if someone thinks it would be useful. Everything works as expected with pxelinux.0 of the same version. With gpxelinux.0: TFTP Prefix: Trying to load:

hpa-tftp with xinetd
Good day, Just a quick question- could someone please confirm that this is the correct xinetd configuration (or not) for hpa-tftp? We've noticed that, when under moderate load hpa-tftpd resides in memory, even after there are no connections or even if xinetd is shut down. Under light load the server goes away after each connection, as desired. Thanks in advance! service tftp {

Using PXELINUX with Windows 2000 DHCP and TFTP
I noticed some links and suggestions on the SYSLINUX web site that reference how to run TFTP on Windows 2000 Server. Two of them suggest installing RIS, and one of them points to a third-party utility. I don't need to install RIS, because I don't want to run Windows setup over PXE. (In fact, I want to use PXELINUX to boot a DOS floppy and run Symantec Ghost to deploy an image.) Also, I

tftp-hpa bug on aliased interface and recent kernels.
So as of recent kernels, this change helps: http://git.kernel.org/?p=network/tftp/tftp-hpa.git;a=commitdiff;h=c6d2c36b1a2b1986cab7aebb72d120fa118bdfeb But there is still a flaw. Notably, if tftpd is running with AF_UNSPEC (as it will if ipv6 support is desired), myrecvfrom will fail to setsockopt to get the data back on the first pass. I'd guess the least disruptive change to get to be

tftp-hpa server with multiple network interfaces
Hello, A host of mine which acts as a gateway for a cluster also acts as a dhcp and tftp server for the cluster nodes. Recently, for reasons that are not really important we changed the interfaces so that eth0 is conencted to our production network and the eth1 network is connected to the cluster's internal network. It was the opposite before. Normally, we want most of the services running on

[CentOS 5] tftp-server, unable to create new files (even with "-c" option)
Hi all, I'm trying to setup a TFTP server to serve as repository for the config of all my Cisco network devices. As per the the tftpd man, I've added the "-c" option into the /etc/ xinetd.d/tftp (as follows) but I still cannot get write access (unless the file is already present). [root at chl1 ~]# cd /etc/xinetd.d [root at chl1 xinetd.d]# cat tftp # default: off #
