SYSLINUX 2.09, 2.10-pre1 released
Hi all,
I have released SYSLINUX 2.09; it is the same as 2.09-pre15 except for
the version number.
Changes in 2.09:
* SYSLINUX: Remove residual setuid crap from
syslinux-nomtools.
* Handle video pages correctly when using the API functions.
* Handle compiling on an x86-64 platform correctly.
* Menu system from Murali Krishnan Ganapathy; see the

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre14 released, release candidate
This release includes Murali's menu positioning patch; it is otherwise
identical to 2.09-pre13.
I will release this as 2.09 on Sunday unless I hear objections.
Note that I've effectively been out of the loop, moving houses, for
almost a month, so if there is something I'm forgetting please tell me...

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre11
Hi all,
I have released SYSLINUX 2.09-pre11; the only difference is Murali's
latest patches for the menu system, mostly to add the ability to add
separators to the menus.
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/
Please test it out. Some time over the weekend I'm going to do a sweep
for bug fixes I've forgotten and otherwise I'd like to release 2.09 next

Syslinux 2.10 does not load initrd anymore
Hello all,
I just installed syslinux 2.10 on my usb-stick. It still boots then, but
doesn't load initrd.gz (same config file..).
Reverting back to syslinux 2.09 works fine, eg: initrd.gz is loaded.
Something changed in initrd handling code?

NB I am willing to share you more information or hints how to solve the
problem.
I am using kernel 2.6.7-bk20

SYSLINUX 2.12-pre1 released: initial libcom32 release
Hi all,
I have released SYSLINUX 2.12-pre1. This version has an initial version
of libcom32, a small C library based on klibc for writing com32 programs
in C. It is far from perfect yet, but it should be a lot easier to use
than hand-coding everything.
As usual, find this stuff in:

SYSLINUX 2.11-pre1 released
I have just released SYSLINUX 2.11-pre1; it's pretty much completely untested :)
This adds the API call to get the configuration file name.

SYSLINUX 3.10-pre1 released; multi-file initramfs support
Hi all,
I have released syslinux-3.10-pre1. This is definitely not a release
candidate; I haven't finished putting the bugs in yet never mind taking
them out (or in manager-speak: it's not feature-complete yet, never mind
debugged.)
However, I figured it'd be interesting as a technology preview.
The main new things are that I am adding support for dynamic initramfs

SYSLINUX 2.04-pre1 released
I just released SYSLINUX 2.04-pre1. I happened to find that due to a
complete miss on my point all the SYSLINUX derivatives were allocating
104K of low memory and never actually used it. It made it a lot more
compelling to blow the memory on buffers necessary to support large
blocks in PXELINUX. I've also resurrected the non-mtools SYSLINUX
installer, although as a root-only installer.

SYSLINUX 3.02-pre1 released
I have pushed out a 3.02-pre1 release of SYSLINUX, which has the
BLKGETSIZE64 patch, plus a few other things:
Changes in 3.02 (so far):
* SYSLINUX: The "unix" installer now sets the MS-DOS
attributes (hidden, system, readonly.)
* COM32 library: build the .lnx (test modules for running
under Linux) as architecture native modules, in case

SYSLINUX 3.40-pre1 released (experimental!)
Hello everyone...
Parallel development at its finest; I have pushed out a 3.40-pre1
release. This is an experimental release which supports loading a new
config file, as well as forcing the type of file (to avoid nasty
surprises with KERNEL vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.0 and the like.)
The following caveats are currently present:
1. THIS IS NOT YET IMPLEMENTED IN THE MENU SYSTEM!
It will be, but

SYSLINUX 3.00-pre1 released - RELEASE CANDIDATE
Okay, nothing like user mail at 3 am to keep one awake...
I have implemented a filename-based syntax for downloading from an
alternate TFTP server in PXELINUX. If the filename starts with
IP address:: it will:
a) Download from the alternate TFTP server;
b) Suppress the common pathname prefix.
I was considering also adding a configuration file option to set the
default TFTP server, but I

SYSLINUX 3.55-pre1
I have pushed out a SYSLINUX 3.55-pre1. The only difference from 3.54
is that 3.55-pre1 obsoletes the use of the magic cookie option 208, in
accordance with RFC 5071 (http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5071.txt).
I don't consider this a significant enough change to make another
release over, but at least it is out there if people want to experiment
with it. I would really like to know if

SYSLINUX 3.73-pre1 (RC)
I have pushed out SYSLINUX 3.73-pre1. It only contains the build fixes
that have accumulated since 3.72, and a version bump of gPXE to the
equivalent of the 0.9.5 gPXE release.
Given the number of people who have had build problems, I'm making this
a release candidate, with the intent of pushing out 3.73 as a minor
fixes release only. If you have the ability to test 3.73-pre1,

SYSLINUX 2.01-pre1 released
This isn't strictly speaking a SYSLINUX release, it's a change to
MEMDISK and mkdiskimage to allow the creation of hard disk images with
DOSEMU headers. This should make it easier to create bootable DOS hard
disk images under DOSEMU.

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre1: development release
Hi all,
I have pushed out a prerelease of one of the development branches (I
currently have three development branches open), 3.70-pre1.
This release revamps a whole lot of internal APIs to support reading
files without knowing their length ahead of time. This is necessary in
order to support network protocols which do not advertise the transfer size.
The immediate user-visible change is

SYSLINUX 3.07-pre1: chainloading fix
I will not push half-finished features into production.
I will not push half-finished features into production.
I will not push half-finished features into production.
I have pushed out syslinux-3.07-pre1; this should have a fix for the
chainloading problem. It actually turned out to be multiple problems,
some of which makes me believe chain.c32 probably hasn't worked since
2.12 or so.

SYSLINUX 4.00-pre1
Hi everyone,
I have pushed out a development preview release of Liu's filesystems in
C code (including ext4 support for EXTLINUX). It is called 4.00-pre1,
which doesn't mean it is the final 4.00 by any means (it isn't even
current with respect to some aspects of the 3.8x branch.) However, it
is now available for people to try out.
It is checked into the fsc branch

Syslinux 5.00-pre1 preview release
Hi all,
I have released a technology preview version of the elflink branch as
sylinux-5.00-pre1. It is basically functional but definitely has a fair
share of rough edges. Nevertheless it would be great if people would be
willing to test it out and let us know what works and doesn't work...
