Memdisk + Freedos problem
I and some other people have problems with running the freedos image included in Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD), when using memdisk for floppy emulation. Memdisk starts booting the image and freedos shows the following menu: 0 Boot Clean 1 Boot UMBPCI (silent) 2 Boot UMBPCI (optimal) 3 Boot UMBPCI (semi-defensive) 4 Boot EMM386 (optimal) 5 Boot EMM386 (semi-defensive) 6 Boot no UMB (defensive) 7 Boot

Bug-report: Memdisk regression for XMGR DOS memory manager
For the boot floppy at http://superkeen.com/peacecorpsfiles/FUZOMA14.IMG using memdisk from syslinux version 3.72 boots correctly, but for memdisk versions newer than 3.72 (I tested 3.73, 3.75, 3.85, and 3.86) all hang at boot with the following message: Loading boot sector... booting FreeDOS kernel - SVN (build 2039 OEM:0xfd [compiled Oct 2 2009]) Kernel compatibility 6.22 - BORLANDC ... Problem with FreeDOS + himem64 + PXELINUX + memdisk
(FreeDOS developers, I apologize for the redundant parts of this message. But I want to bring the SYSLINUX folks into the discussion, and the SourceForge mailing list archives are broken.) Background: I have a little Sourceforge project (http://unattended.sourceforge.net/) for which I use SYSLINUX to provide CD-ROM and PXE boot support for my boot disk. And it works great with MS-DOS. However,

Re: syslinux] syslinux vs grub
Hello HPA, I think on harddisks, Syslinux is going to lose somehow from other bootloaders like LILO, Grub and others. However, SYSLINUX is still VERY usefull for removable media like diskettes, Zipdisks, USB Flash keys, etc.. I don't know if the fact that Syslinux is now installed using blockmapping is really breaking the usefullness for harddisks. You already mentioned system attribute

Accessing ISDN with avm bluetooth hardware
Hi *, This is my first message to this list, so I hope I am not breaking any rule with my post. My question is the following: can I establish a voice connection over an ISDN interface by using a bluetooth dongle to connect to the ISDN access point? Here follow the details: I have compiled and configured asterisk. Everything seems fine except that when I configure asterisk to use the ISDN

weights in lmer
I originally sent this to Doug Bates but have received no reply yet so I thought I would expand to a wider source. I've been trying to estimate linear mixed effect models in lmer() from the lme4 package using the weights option. The help and code for lmer() suggest to me that this is implemented but I can't seem to get it to do anything with weights = , no error message reported it

Urgent FreeBSD Boot question!
Dear friends: I decided to go out and buy the latest issue of Linux Format with the FreeBSD 6 CD. I am very glad I did. FreeBSD is tough to install, but after spending several hours I finally succeeded in doing a perfect installation. ONE BIG PROBLEM: When I removed the CD and rebooted, I got into my Windows XP (I have two separate disks, one for Windows, one of FreeBSD). There was no way to get

Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

User engine apparently breaks wsdl in some cases
(X-posting to the engine group as well) Wsdl calls fail under certain circumstances when the user engine is in use. After much experimentation, this is what I found. * I have an application that uses the login and user engines for permissions and security. The configuration works correctly. * I created a web service for the application. If I use direct dispatch (the default), I can both

Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Good day again Daniel, So the first thing I did was to remove the >NUL for your XMSDSK line and put a PAUSE after it in AUTOEXEC.BAT. That way, I could see the error message: *** XMS RAMdisk v1.9I (FU - 08/98): XMS get free mem error. Then I noticed that if you run AUTOEXEC.BAT manually from the DOS CLI, XMSDSK actually succeeds! So that led to a new test: Duplicate the XMSDSK line. ...

Bug-report: Booting DOS images from USB
Hi, I'm doing a small hobby project writing some tools to put DOS boot images and Linux rescue images on a USB stick. For this I have partitioned my USB stick in 2 partitions, one 192MB partition with a VFAT filesystem (for the normal use) and a second partition with an ext3 filesystem. My aim was to provide a graphical menu (grub) to access the different images using memdisk. Since
