INITRD > MEMSIZE / 2
I?ve got a 512M machine and a 330M ( uncompressed ) initrd image. How can I mount the ramdisk? Normal booting seems to want to copy the entire initrd image into a Ramdisk, thus requiring 2X the memory. So what happens is the kernel boots correctly and I get, RAMDISK: ext2 filesystem found at block 0 RAMDISK: Loading 330000 blocks [ 1 disk ] into ram disk And then I never see the light of day after

pxelinux 2.04+ hangs after loading kernel
Hi, I just tried to boot my token ring devices with 2.05 - to no avail, it hangs after loading the kernel. I then tried older versions, and found 2.03 booting like a charm, and every 2.04-pre including 2.04 hanging. Here's the config of the devices: - Networkstation 2800 with IBM PCI Token Ring card 2 - IBM Thinkpad T21 with IBM PCI Token Ring card 2 Maybe this has to do with the changes

Size limit for initrd in PXELINUX?
Hi Peter, (at least I hope it is you, who gets this mail) I have a problem while booting over the netwoork using PXELINUX. When I use a initrd smaller or equal 16 MB, everything works fine, but when I increase the size, the system doesn't boot. In case of a 32 MB initrd (same content, just bigger), I get the error-message, that the system couldn't mount root. From 64 MB on, the system

Boot messages on VT
Hello, I am using with success SYSLINUX-1.48 to boot a CD-Rom in order to realize an automatic installation of Linux. Actually all messages during the boot step are displayed on VGA screen. In the operational version, we have only a VT on COM1. I have tested to modified my syslinux.cfg like the following listing but boot messages are always displayed on VGA screen ! Can you help me, please ? (I

memsize for HVM save/restore
As you know, HVM save/restore broke recently because restored config miss guest memsize that used by xc_hvm_restore to locate some pfn. After discussion, we decided to remove the pfn deduction logic from restore side by adding a general memory layout. I have a patch for it. But then qemu broke, because it also require the memsize to locate the share page. We can''t use the previous

[PATCH] rescue: fix sscanf placeholders for --smp and --memsize
Use %d to parse them as int (since the variables for them as int) instead of %u, even if they both need to be at least > 0. --smp was already checked to be >= 1 while --memsize not, so check that the specified memory size is not < 128 (which is semi-arbitrary, but enough as a minimum threshold). --- rescue/rescue.c | 12 ++++++++++-- 1 file changed, 10 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-)

[PATCH] lib: Increase default memsize to 1280 (RHBZ#1837765).
Argon2 is the default LUKS Password-Based Key Derivation Function (PBKDF) for some new guests such as RHEL 8.2 and Fedora. It is designed to be "memory hard", meaning that by design it requires large amounts of memory, making it expensive to brute-force. Unfortunately the default for guests which had more than a few GB of RAM at install time is to require about 1 GB of RAM to decrypt

regression with categorical nuisance variable
Hi, I am new to R, so I am unsure of the formula to set up this analysis. I would like to run a linear model with a continuous dependent variable (brain volume) and a continuous independent variable (age) while controlling for a categorical nuisance variable (gender). Age and brain volume are correlated. There are no gender differences in age but there are significant gender differences in brain

error using lapply with oneway_test (coin package)
Dear expeRts, I would like to use a oneway_test (from package coin) to test whether two groups differ on various variables. The variables are encoded within a data frame. Unfortunately, I obtained an error, that I don't understand. Could you please help me ? Example: library(coin) y <- as.data.frame(matrix(rnorm(200), ncol=2)) group <- as.factor(unif(100)) lapply(y,

finding ncp for t distribution
Dear R-users, I am wondering whether R implements a function returning the non central parameter of a t distribution (equivalent of the TnoncT function from SAS), given /x/ a value from a t distribution, /df /the degrees of freedom and /p/ the probability of x under this distribution. Variability Plot For Toray Microarray Data
Is there any package that allow you to perform "MA plot" like graph for Toray microarray data? Unlike Affymetrix CEL file which contain 2 values (R and G), Torray raw data only contain 1 value. MA-plot is Affymetrix specific which usually available for in (limma) package. P. Dubois [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

function optimization: reducing the computing time
Dear useRs, I have written a function that implements a Bayesian method to compare a patient's score on two tasks with that of a small control group, as described in Crawford, J. and Garthwaite, P. (2007). Comparison of a single case to a control or normative sample in neuropsychology: Development of a bayesian approach. Cognitive Neuropsychology, 24(4):343?372. The function (see

error in which(): recursive default argument reference
Dear useRs, I have written a very simple function to compute some probabilities on words (function is below). The function includes a which() statement applied to a vector of characters (word.split): sapply (word.split, function(x) which(letters==x)). This statement worked as expected when used outside the global function : > word <- "hello" > (word.split <-

RE: [Asterisk-Dev] Open source time card application for Asterisk
A little bird whispers to me: Don't expect this particular trick to be un-addressed by various legislatures forever. That window is closing, and the bottom of the window looks very much like a guillotine blade - don't have your head in the wrong place. In any case, as has been discussed on -users before (which is where this thread should go, and thus where I'm relegating it)

MS Flight Simulator?
Anybody had any luck getting MS flight simulator running? I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 on Intel and got to missing the Winders flight simulators after someone just gave me FS-X. It starts to install fine until it asks for the second DVD, which it never sees. When I click the Retry button, it keeps coming back with "Insert Disk #2." Any ideas? Thanks, Gerry -------------- next part

The function returns attended results, but I also obtained the following warning : Warning message: the condition has length > 1 and only the first element will be used in: if (substr(fp, 1, 1) == "<") fp else paste("=", fp) Maybe
