SYSLINUX 2.06-pre3
I have released a SYSLINUX 2.06-pre3. This includes modifications to ppmtolss16 so that it should now be completely compliant with all modes of the PNM specification, raw/plain, PBM/PGM/PPM, with comment lines or without. ftp://ftp.zytor.com/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ Please test it out ASAP if at all possible. Since the fixes for -pre1 and -pre2 were pretty essential, I'd like

I have released SYSLINUX 2.06; it's basically identical to 2.06-pre4. I'm doing this now because the bug fixes are so major and because I am not sure I'll be around next week. -hpa 2.06 is a bug fix release. Changes in 2.06: * ALL: Fix problem that would occationally cause a boot failure, depending on the length of the kernel. * ISOLINUX: Fix problem

pxelinux localboot 0 fails?
I have a pxelinux I'm working with and I want the default option to be to boot off the local mbr. According to the docs, if I specify localboot 0, it should return to the BIOS and continue to the next device. When I do this, though, the pxe agent exists (PXE-M0F), but the BIOS never continues on. Is this a BIOS issue? If so, has anyone else figured out a way to work around it? * Philip

reading journal statistics
Is there a way to get usage statistics on the journal device? We are testing battery-backed NVRAM cards with extremely busy 1.7TB filesystems (mode data=journal) and we need to figure out what size NVRAM card we need. I assume the journal size depends on how much writing you are doing and we can do simple theoretical calculations (writing 2.5MB/s, 60 seconds of journal would be max 150MB), but

How does ext3 handle drive failures?
We want to run multi-drive systems we have in a JBOD mode, where each drive is basically a filesystem to itself. With the drives we currently have, we expect to have multiple failures, primarily unrecoverable ECC read errors or sometimes the drive just dying altogether. How does ext[23] handle these two primary conditions? Using them in a software RAID mode, I have sometimes seen problems with

SUMMARY: Ppmtolss16 trouble...
Success! Had to build a linux box, gcc, gtk, gimp, etc, but I can now make .pnm files that convert correctly into lss16 format using ppmtolss16. Now I guess I have to go back to getting some *real* work done :) Thanks for the kick in the right direction. Adrian. -----Original Message----- From: H. can't run DirectX applications properly - window garbled
Hello, I have searched, read and tried everything I can think of, but without success. So I really need some help here. The application I am currently trying to use is PixPlant, but I have the same problems with other apps using directx or opengl (I am totally confused now) to display some content. PixPlant is a program for generating textures. It has an area in its main window where it displays

AMENDED: Ppmtolss16 trouble...
Upon finding a different image conversion program, I have eliminated the Premature EOF problem that I had(apologies if I post this before the moderator approves my first post...you can ignore it if/when it shows up). Now, I am seeing the script complete with no error. I tested my syslinux.dpy file with the syslogo.lss file from the samples, and it's fine. The lss file I created, however,
